Well that’s not coming from highsec after this update that’s for damn sure. Mex is being removed from R4 moon’s means its going to be a huge sink for it

- Increase the base HP of, and adding mid slot to, Covetor and Retriever
Why no mention of the removal of TWO mid slots for the Procurer (and 1 for the Skiff) while you were on the subject ?
Waste is in addition to yield. So something that mines 1 wastes 1 depletes the rock by 2 while still receiving 1. Doubling amount in the rocks just makes the baseline waste of 100% the same ore available.
Both ships (plus the porpoise) lose all hull bonuses related to mining yield / cycle time, and the indy core yield bonus drops from 500% / 400% on the T2 / T1 modules respectively to 200% / 100%. The Orca gains an indy core that gives it 100% / 50% yield bonus respectively. That might be major enough to push them out of the mining scene.
Are there any systems with ice that do not have a refinery?
How did you mine ice before the update? And at what rate? If you really moved the ice away from the system you mined it uncompressed while mining, you wouldn’t have been able to mine it at any decent income rate.
Don’t know the current prices, but a month ago one hour of ice crabbing would have been about 500M isk with my Orca + 6x Hulk + DST setup. Assuming there was no Athenor with Reproc mod in local, I’d just make an Athenor appear in local (or stop mining ice and go crab r4 instead). Given the invulnerability timer mechanics, it won’t disappear within less than a week , and even if it gets clapped after the first week, it would have return of invested multiple times.
I’ve been playing fairly regularly since 2009.
I’ve never come to the forums to give feedback on a change, but this is so extremely poor in quality that I’m here to say that the entirety of the direction the team that worked on this is headed is wrong, fails to achieve the stated goals, and actively worsens multiple aspects of gameplay.
Don’t do it, call it an early April fool’s joke and go back to the drawing board.
two extra points that I haven’t seen in this thread yet:
I have decided I like all of this.

How exactly ore waste will affect industry system index?
Going back through and trying to read this dumpster fire of a thread I am noticing this devblog has too much ■■■■ in it to properly discuss on a single thread, there should be a thread for the Industry patch update separate from the mining changes. @CCP_Dopamine
Also the waste mechanics are very poorly explained - oh wait I found an explanation and it is useless
“This also introduces new gameplay options, such as high waste mining of opponents’ resources via updated mining crystals that increase harvesting at the cost of increased waste. Mining waste can be tracked in the mining ledger.”
Nobody is going to use this for this purpose, the Type C/Low yields should be dropped. as the concept behind them is a fundamentally flawed understanding of the game and the players within.
I fundamentally disagree with ICE being used as an example for waste mechanic explanation. Example for an excavator I assumed the 1x volume modifier of 100% would be 1 volume loss out of the 80 volume base. But I think it may be much more sinister than that and absolutely abhorrent and unacceptable, but your example is so poor that we cannot clearly tell.
CCP I think you’re committing to riding a dead horse with this. Scarcity’s implementation was absurd, this is also absurd, the PCU continues to go down and yet you still keep doubling down on failed experiments and concepts. I think you’re going to push us past the breaking point and cause an irrecoverable exodus from the game.
I guess its going to be pochoven online soon because the rest of the game is going to be an uninhabited wasteland as the PCU continues to plummet.
its sad that even in this “prosperity” state there is no gas site in nullsec.
even if its half the ammount of gas is rotating in a region like arkonor or crokite mining - sites
its better than only have gas in wh space.
so my suggestion : for each empire space one sort of gas in nullsec sites like the ice. so you need to get gas from different regions to build a variant of caps.
so
fountain i.e you get a sort of gas specific for moros, thanatos and others
deklein i.e sort of gas for chimera, phoenix and others
and so on.
it would help mining, building and setting up capital industry for getting more caps on big battlefields
or make hunting caps great again, because more caps get fielded.
It means, Mine 1, waste of same volume is produced.
So out of the 80 volume base, each time 1 is mined, 2 are lost from the base. Mine 40 and the ice is depleted.
This is offset by the volumes of ice doubling (so if there is currently 80 base, then that will double to 160). So if you just use excavator drones, then there is no change compared to now from a mining perspective, but if you need to compress rather than use it in the system it’s mined, then there is loss from the compression.
That fails to address the reason it was chosen over barges and exhumers in the first place. It wasn’t chosen for its speed. Covetors and hulks would’ve always been top tier if speed was the only factor. Time on field(ore hold) and gank survivability (tank) were the deciding factors. Thats literally it. It maintains a healthy lead in those categories while still being able to do the job thus it will continue being used. They’ve done nothing except aggravate people. Not to mention they’re shuffling around mid slots on barges and exhumers making then essentially all the same. I dont even want to talk about faction subs and t1 bs.
That’s a really well thought out plan theyve come up with. /s
Tl:dr they’re clapping themselves on the back but haven’t done ■■■■. This is not news. @CCP_Rattati
I’m disappointed that there will be no change to Ice Belt spawn mechanics. Because Ice spawns in the same systems all the time, it allows certain “groups” (which in some cases is one dude with 20+ mining alts with other alts available for defense) to monopolize these belts. If Ice belts are going to spawn as anomalies, then they need to have a chance to spawn in every system, even if the chance in some systems is much higher than in others.
If you got in early, you would have had plenty of time to recoup your investment and make fat stacks of cash. Thus, the fact that you’re complaining indicates that you must be a late adopter. So, lemme break it down for you, and everyone who upvoted your post.
Eve is an MMO that is in active development, and the devs will (periodically) try to fix mistakes and balance things. Thus, late adopting something with a reputation for being OP, and that players were actively calling for to be nerfed, carries an inherent risk that the ship/activity will be rebalanced before you have time to recoup your investment. Thus, when late adopting, you should either go in knowing what the risks are, and doing what you can to mitigate them, or you should avoid late adopting.
Now, you can either learn from this, and start planning your next move, or you can sit around complaining about CCP having the audacity to try to fix balance issues and make the game better. Whatever works for you.
Personally, I’m not all that enthusiastic about all the changes myself, but you won’t hear me throwing a fit about it because change is opportunity, and I think I smell some fun and profit with this one. So, Imma gonna see if I’m right.
Hi, looks like someone forgot to put the module/drone stats in the supporting document.
Also, is there going to be mining waste for gas?
(disregard - these answers can now be found in the updated supporting doc)
Waste, as far as I understand it, doesn’t change what you get out of something. It changes how much it pulls out of the asteroid. (which is doubled)
So with drones, you’re still pulling the same amount per cycle. It’s just removing double that from the asteroid.
It’s one of the tabs at the bottom called Modules & Drones.
it’s empty
and now it’s not!
