As rorq mining ( I mined solo or in corp groups) was my last tolerable income source where I could use a capital in pve without being forced to hurry up and do nothing while waiting for npc to spawn I’m leaving the game due to having not enough income to afford to lose what I like to fly as of this patch dropping.
In the interests of suggesting alternatives ccp could have split the rorq like was done for carrier and faxes allowing a mining capital and the support capital but instead we will make 90% of rorqs and those who only have one mining character useless because solo ming isn’t a right. The new mining capital could lose panic and indy core and be balanced as being proportional to the subcaps in terms of yield so that is is an upgrade proportional to the risk of being fielded.
Edit: forgot to say the support capital would do the boosting and compression that the mining capital doesn’t do but is supported by
and what about my PI reimbursement? you got me to buy into the PI added to industry crap and now you realize how painful that was, so you scale it back, in the meantime, we added planets, trained more PI characters spent isk on skills and command centers and setup costs. …
i know, we should never invest in stupid updates, we should wait until the dust settles and many months later see what nerfs happen .
I’m not sure and I’m new to the game and I enjoy mining. It seems though that the Solo miner and the New Guy is getting shafted more then before. I worked hard to Skill in my Orca now you say I can’t really use it as a miner. Not fair to those who took this path. Further, Lucrative mining and gas harvesting for the Solo Guy of mostly off limits. Every time I step in Low or Null I get Ganked. Its crazy I can’t turn a real profit unless I chose to join some Big Corp or Collective who owns parts of space that’s great for mining. Am I off base.
I like how everybody cries about the rorqual and the orca, forgetting the nerfhammer was expected since they turned into active mining ships. Even the dozen of past nerfs wasn’t enough to show you what was going on.
There is something you all to forgot about eve, and that’s probably the same IRL. The one who wins is not the one who becomes rich, it’s the one who have fun.
nope , you are right on target. CCP has said for years they want to cultivate small group play but continuously make changes that really only work for large alliances with plenty of space and resources .
the idea is NOT for you to be able to make isk to plex your account. the idea is to make you buy plex and sell it to gain isk.
i dont know how long you have been playing, but there was a time when a high sec miner oculd mine everything needed to build a battleship. a true sense of joy and accomplishment.
now you have to buy all the components off the market or have many friends that do the full gamut of processes neede . somehow the joy is lost in the tangled web of isk sink transactions and logistics.
not that having friends is a bad thing, its just not the gameplay many of us enjoyed during our leisure hours
Not sure if anyone caught this but I think I caught a problem with the Endurance mining frigate. As of Sisi yesterday, It lost it’s mining bonus- yet still only has one turret hard point. So, now- it mines less than a Venture.
I’d like to understand how these mechanics will impact PVE Mining Missions. I’d be concerned that pilots could accidentally destroy some of the ore due to wastage and be unable to complete missions.
Judging by the fact that they clearly have not used their brains to think how this will impact anyone other than botters and 20+ account players, I very much doubt that they have thought about this aspect…
lets see, does this complexit increase interest for new players? nope
does it help with player reteintion? nope
does it do anything to simplify the horrendosly complex industry process? nope
does it make some industrial ships easier to kill or put more of them on field? yep
see, that wasnt so hard.
ignore bitter vets that paid for the game for years and clearly have no understanding of how the game mechanics work.
just for the record. some of us long term players do our very best to cultivate new players and help them get over the steep learning curve of EVE. some of us help them with ships and equipment they cant afford
some of us actually still enjoy the camaraderie that EVE offers.
we dont have to like changes that make little or no sense and make things unnecessarily more complicated when explaining to a newbro how things work
So in order not to be “nerfed”, I need to run roughly 1 billion isk worth of faction strip miners? There will be no difference in using mining drones while using a mining ship vs. a combat drone ship (other than the fact that drones will only return half of the ore they return now)?
Unless you are using faction mining modules, there will always be some waste, which means that the mining yield per cycle will go down. Since time is also calculated in resource value, this will cause resources to go up in price, causing everything that is player produced to rise by the same amount.
If you’re going to keep this notion of having waste involved in the mining process and want market prices to either remain the same or come down, you will need to double the amount of resources that are refined from the harvestable resource.
I think this is a positive change. As a wormholer I think it was crazy to see a fleet of 10 ventures worth 5m max sucking up an 800m isk gas cloud in a few hours. Now you can still perform the same activity but putting more isk/risk in space will have a reward. T1 barges represent almost 10x more investment and are more vulnerable to tackle.
