From Extraction to Production

I ran “Geodite and Gemology” on SiSi. It looks like there is wastage from mining lasers and crystals on a Retriever and also T2 Mining drones from a Porpoise.

I haven’t completed the mission yet, but I don’t think there’s going to be enough ore at the end due to waste.

Oh, agreed entirely - and we’re both probably in that 5%. But for everyone one of us, there are hundreds of scammers, gankers, and fleets that go for efficiency and nothing else or are simply one person with eight accounts. With the exception of scammers, these changes make all the other issues slightly to significantly worse (varying degrees for each change).

You dont have to join a huge group but being a part of a Corp is advantageous. Maybe try out a wormhole Corp or an Indy group that belongs to a decent alliance.

The game is more fun as part of a group. Look around a bit and just try it out. Joining a Corp doesn’t mean you have to risk all your stuff if you don’t end up with the right group on your fist try. Find a group that is ok with you bringing a mining barge and figure out if you feel comfortable shipping up with them.

Problem is not nullsec, in high sec proc used as the only viable ship. Anything else gets ganked. With its nerf it might be open season again…will see.

Lol The Jita chat server user counter is stuck on 4000 people. This garbage system can’t count any higher these days.

@CCP_Fleebix Remember that phrase about “presentation matters”?

After a year and a half in war I was seriously thinking about quitting Eve once the war ended. You guys had pretty much wrecked ratting for me so I did not see much to do in peacetime. But I work from home and decided I would give mining a try. Now you have decided to make these mining changes that essentially force people into creating alt accounts to profit from mining. I have two accounts and that is my limit. So starting Monday I am unsubbing my alt and will see about unsubbing my main. Your constant pursuit of milking every last cent out of your playerbase has gone too far for me.

It doesn’t force you to make moree alts to profit, in fact, at higher skills, without going super blingy, those two accounts will end up with higher short term yield, and more material turnaround, unless you mine with t1 lasers, in which case ther will be a small increas in short term yield but same, give or take, material turnaround due to how th waste mechanic actually works

It is total bovine waste that I have to mine gas in an Exhumer under this change. Whoever thought this up is absolutely bonkers. Cooperation is all nice and dandy, but cooperation being the only way to do things to get an acceptable yield is ridiculous and the opposite of fun.

I like this change. I have a couple rorqual pilots, and I was able to extract and alpha spare accounts. Now i have a nice stash of isk so ill be set financially for a while with my remaining accounts.

It sucks for the economy, and for miners. I hope that the cost of ships and modules dont go up to much from increased scarcity.

Just like the Titanic eh?

I’d argue cooperating and having fun with friends is more fun than turbo-minmax with alts. That said, I DO use alts, for the record, and have actually made the decision to re-subscribe my secondary main, which I had unsubscribed, because of the NFT fuckery from AT.

considering I have friends planning out their resubscriptions after reading the details of the upcoming change, I’d say its not a sinking ship and rats.

we can all make references to people that do or do not exist and actions they may or may not take, it is not productive to do so.

They could make a range of modules both T1 and T2 where the wastage is based on relative speed of extraction. In such a case, the balance would always be between getting a lot of ore fast and wasting a lot of ore fast, or getting the ore slowly but getting more of it at the end.

Moon miners who don’t want other filthy hands on their ores could use scorched earth tactics. Raiders could do the same in enemy territory. People who can control their turf could enjoy a larger quantity of ore if they have the extra time or hands on deck to mine it all in the time available.

This would de-couple the wastage mechanic from the hard skill limitations of module choice and move it more to being a tactical option people decide on. T2 versions could be faster or less wasteful overall. I would lean towards speed so that T2 high waste modules burn through enemy ore faster, too, if that’s a desired effect.

then let’s look at my own specific actions then. over the past couple years I downscaled from two mains and three alts, to one main, and one trade alt. I have, due to this change, re-upped my sub on my secondary main, due to this change, and will re-up one or more alts, to run to support my friends coming back, if the changes go through largely as is. I am far from the usual whaling target for CCP, and I’m a minority of a few categories in terms of play, solo/small-gang pvp, roleplay, and so on to name just a few.

Anyway, this is a change that I feel is important and needed, and I’m voting with my wallet, for it

I just wanna know why i get the Red Dot bugs again.

It is fun if you can do it with friends, if I want to do it with friends, if I decide that I want to spend time with them.

If I have to schedule my mining with my corp all the time and have to mine when I want to do other things just so that I can get any reasonable amount of resources, it is not fun. It is also not fun because it attracts attention from other people roaming around, which in turn maybe fun for you or them when they hunt us, but I won’t be able to mine in the time that I have already sacrificed from other activities.

No, forced cooperation with “friends” is not fun. Organic cooperation with friends is fun. When we and I can mine whenever we want and do it together if things work out with our schedules and other plans, it is fun. Rattatata does not care about fun. He only wants to force people to only do things in groups. This is not fun.
