I know that the Rorqual and ore waste side of this topic is super important. However, I would like to address the situation with removing gas harvesting roles from the venture and the prospect.
Maybe you are right to remove them from the venture, as it is being easily abused, it < 1 mil ISK ship making a lot of isk/h in WH.
However, you should keep in mind that there are frigate size wormholes in EvE, and there is no way you would squeeze gas huffing barge in there It is super important to leave gas huffing roles on ships like the prospect.
procurers got boost it got +1 low slot. Just go and slot damage controll and you are on exact same EHP as before. But now you can mine much more whit it if you make your self less tanky.
Its now matter of fitings so this change is actuali a good one.
Havenāt tested the rorqual yet, but a high slot module for compression that needs to be loaded from your main cargo hold is not the way to go. This doesnāt help support the fleet if they can not just deposit to fleet hanger and right click compress. I donāt see a reason why the orca compression canāt be a skill and work exactly the same as the current rorqual compression.
As far as waste I am getting zero waste with tech II type A crystals. Havenāt been watching every cycle though if it is some kind % chance to happen.
Everything looks neat but get rid of the module for compression and let the Indy core plus compression skill be required to compress from the fleet and ore hanger.
Oh and the 5 minute cycle time is out of control for a 5% bonus to boosts. 1-2 minutes would definitely be a welcomed change
Nobody cares because the waste makes it a stupid idea to compress.
Make sure to adjust the fuel cost as well. Better yet just put the orca back like it was and pretend this was a fever dream.
Waste is the single most ignorant concept you guys have cooked up since the beginning of all this idiocy. Have you seen Jita lately? I havenāt seen anything this wildly unpopular since that monocle debacle, and i think this is worse. If only because it actually affects gameplay.
Again, just put them back how they were. No harm no foul. This more critical than you might think. There are frig holes to think about, and beyond that the venture is the only bonused ship in the game newbros can use to get a taste of mining. Do NOT F with the frigates.
Compression should be lossless regardless of where itās preformed. Ffs we are flying around in ftl space ships and we havenāt figured out how to crush rocks without losing bits? Give me a break.
If you do this you might as well delete type-c crystals entirely. It wonāt matter anyway people will just use civilian or pure t1 miners to avoid the timer and still destroy literally half of the rocks. Ccplease.
These two go together.
Because anytime you add or adjust slots and 100% required modules you need to think about fitting resources. When the orca is fit properly it is already cpu tight. Same as the barges.
@CCP_Rattati I find it mildly humorous that ā@ccp_ratā brings your name up. Oddly appropriate.
what a total joke. the time it would take to compress a normal fleet op of ore would take days. do you seriously think we are going to put expensive targets on the field for hours and hours to do nothing but compress? please explain what the role of a rorqual is now? why would anyone in their right mind put a 10 billion isk shp out to do nothing but move moon goo back and forth for hours and take a loss on it too?
Have you considered doing math? None of this complexity adds value to gameplay for industrialists.
i heard what you said about revisiting some of this to make it somewhat different. why bother. new numbers for bad ideas doesnt make the ideas better
Yep ā micromanaging the module on/off was a part of my comprehensive feedback (link), and I would love it if a CSM such as yourself were able to also voice that feedback.
You see they do not want to lose the subs of all those Rorqual farms, so instead they expect you to sub 12 accounts so you can compress all that ore!!!
CCP logic, f$%k your experience give us your Mastercard
You are so missing the point. Specific asteroids are provided for the missions. Therefore, wastage means that only half the asteroid can now be mined successfully by the new pilot in their corvette or Venture. Since the mission requires the pilot to bring back a certain amount, then that means they may not be able to complete the missionā¦
When you revisit moon ore compression, please alternately consider lower tier moon ore compression via Orca (in Compact Industrial Core Mode) rather than letting it be compressed in structures.
The initial changes proposed create a risk/reward ncentive: to compress on site, reprocess on site (at likely a lower efficiency via unrigged Athanor for example, or move large volumes for best return (to a theoretical dedicated Tatara.
Letting Moon Ore compression happen in structures removes all of this, regardless of how inefficient it is. All industrial calculations suddenly use this (currently proposed 90% efficiency) as gospel as there is no amount of reward potential to counteract the dramatic safety of structure compression.
Playing Space Engineers, Mech Warrior V and Skyrim while my two Alpha accounts (Which were formerly Omega) sit there in a station doing nothing when at least one of them would be doing somethingā¦ and theyāre going to stay that way now. I donāt even log in to EvE anymoreā¦ just watch the forums in the vain hope that SOMETHING good might happen rather than the cow pat āall stickā changes weāve had for over 2 years that have caused most of my corpmates to quit leaving no friends to mine with.
I wish those miners remaining Godspeed, calm seas and fair winds. Iām out.
that sure will (and it shows in CCP answers here) make them think about somethingā¦ but again: if they are reading and considering some things here mentioned, why they made the dev blog live? why they present something they have some doubts?.. Now they arenĀ“t sure about this and that? oi?
Maybe its related to some deal they have right nowā¦ ?
Iāve also had a chance to dive into the mining barges and waste and I am concerned like a lot of the community on its effect on the community especially if newbros get locked out of āgoodā mining.
I suggest the following to ease the issue:
Completely readjust the the Mining skill in relation to required level for the mining modules.
Unlock the Miner I at Mining II
Unlock the Strip Miner I at Mining III
Unlock Miner II at Mining III
Unlock the Modulated Strip Miner II at Mining IV
Unlock all Deep Core at Mining V (left as is).
Treat T1 crystals like T1 ammo and require Mining I for all T1 crystals.
Leave T2 Crystals heavily gated behind the reprocessing skills.
This recommended change will allow people to rapidly get newer players into mining fleets where resources are scarce such as moon pulls on valuable moons. The threat of exclusion is very real for lower skilled players and MUST be addressed before launch. I suggest the best way to do this is to remove the heavy SP gate for T1 crystals AND reduce the barrier to T2 Strip Miners to level IV like many many other T2 modules.
Edit to add a note about alpha vs omega. It would be my intent to allow omega newbros to train the skills to get into a T1 barge and T2 Strip easily so they can join moon mining fleets without undue hate to the newbros for waste.
It is also my intent to have alpha characters also be able to participate with ventures and T2 miners at a much reduced mining rate but no serious drag on waste.
