From Extraction to Production

Opinion here but I don’t believe the actual reason for all this will be officially shared. Looking at everything as a whole its hard to believe that the Owners in South Korea aren’t pulling the strings to move the game away from players earning isk while playing to players purchasing Isk with cash from the game owners.

Lol, lossy compression will not be used on moon ore. That’s insane when you have to have a structure on grid that can repro without ever compressing. Why would you ever compress raw moon goo at a loss when you have the option to just repro skipping a loss step??

things that werent broken that now will need fixing\

  1. waste. was only during reprocessing. now during minind and compression . serves no identified purpose but disproportionately impacts lesser skilled players and anyone that mines with them.

SKIP the waste portion of this plan

  1. compression. just a cruel joke. most mining fleets will out mine the ability of the booster to keep up with. boosting ships most expensive on the field but generate almost no income. risk = high, reward = 0

If you want to add compression in the field, fine, but do it the way the rorqual used to do it. simple

  1. crystal variations, thanks for consolidation, the variations idea linked to waste is terrible

Drop the waste effect from crystal variations let the yield be penalty enough for low skilled players

  1. turning all the most expensive ships on the field into easier targets while reducing their effectieness as miners.

This is a disincentive to being a boost pilot. decide whether you want groups to work together or not… dont penalize the guy that makes group mining effective

it is clear that the intent is to put more stips on the field to help gankers, at the same time making mining more of a tediouos chore that in was before. i ask again, ow does this help get and keep players?

Still looking at the complaints here, still seeing a net positive. Hurry up and apply these changes so that certain varieties of player leave the game. I’d actually enjoy the … absences. People are just too McGrumpy, and would do the absolute best for the community by way of making their absence more, ah, profound.

Hello, my name is martha, and im going to go way out on left field, a while ago there was a twich stream about reworking the model of the ragnarok titan hull, and i was just wondering if there was an update. I know titans have fallen out of favor but i was just hoping it was still being worked on. Ty.

Definitely a lot changed since the last time I played. Old player, new character, fresh eyes, etc.

It’s certainly a lot, and seems to be a return to older boost-role ICSes/Rorquals with the exception that these are still the new on-grid boost model.

Waste is certainly a new thing to consider, and it’s an interesting concept based in a bit of reality (some methods are more efficient than others, etc). I’ve been working with my corporation since the changes to crunch efficiency numbers in practice, so as to give them - and newer players, since it’s mainly a corp to help newer folks - a way to move past the worst of it.

Most of the changes themselves aren’t terrible, from my eyes, though as the saying goes, Your Mileage May Vary. Plenty of others don’t think it’s a net good, and that’s fair.

I’m just looking forward to seeing the data evolve, so that I can keep those I play with more informed.

you still get the goo with type-c modules, and no I dont believe for a second you have ever ‘trashed’ an opponents moon with standard modules. they dont mine fast enough.

but regardless, if you dont like the mechanic, then don’t use it. you will possibly have adversaries who use it against you. Or is that really what your problem with it is? you could just tell them they are only allowed to use the type A modules when they come in to hit your moons, maybe they will listen.

I’m a boost pilot and its not a disincentive for me, not sure what is wrong with you.

I think the thing people are mostly missing is the fact yes they are doubling the amount of resources in the belts, however that is what’s there currently which is 20% of what used to be there pre scarcity so in actuality it is only 40% of what was there then you add in the waste factors, by the time you get to finished materials you are getting what we get now or if your lucky a tad few more % points big whoop its way complicated now just to get that

Can somebody show me a gameplay overhaul patch that hasn’t brought with it a tearfest?

why would anyone fly a rorqual? the same reason anyone flies a command ship. Simple.

Suggestion:

New meta ‘efficient’ mining modules that produce less waste.

Purpose: an easily accessible way for newbies who do not yet have the skills for T2, to waste less ore while mining. Same yield as T1 or maybe slightly longer cycle time than T1.

Big difference tho is that pvp command ships still can participate effectively, now mining command ships can’t, so how about they nerf pop command shops as well and we’ll see how the other side likes it when they get kicked in the balls to

Intriguing idea for counterbalance to the existing Scoped and Compact modules, as well as the base T1.

a command ship in fleet fights is typically on the field for relatively short periods of time. not many hours and forced to stay locked in place for 5 minutes at a time as a loot pinata for blob fleets. the ability to mine and generate some income while flying a capital ship was reasonable, (like carrier ratting) have any of you done the math on how long it would take to compress 20 mil m3 of ore from a typical moon pull? comparing the rorqual to a pvp command ship is hardly a fair comparison.
the risk / reward equation is totally borked

Unless the structure they’re inside is destroyed. Depending on the mood of the attackers, your Rorqual might be just stolen instead, which saves you the killmail and associated being-shittalked for losing a Rorqual, though.

No, not correct at all. the 1-2 light missile launchers or whatever other token weapon (if one is fitted at all) is fitted on a links boat are not ‘participating’ in the fight, they are whoring on kill mails.

But that is also irrelevant, because mining command ships still go out all the time to mine nothing

Then don’t use the core, problem solved. It isn’t hard.

Command Ships fly with the fleet while the fleet is ongoing, and Command Destroyers are mostly used for suicide missions by most FCs.

I aggree, though, that the poor performance of the compression module more or less makes it “useless”, because there’s just no point in having the rorqual crab somewhere where there’s no ore to mine just to compress because it does the comrpession job better then a CITADEL. It, and the Orca, should be able to real-time compress everything that a usual-sized fleet of mining ships drop into it, rather then the farm of it’s own drones.

I personally like the idea of the module to compress, i just think they should make it more than the 10km3. make it compress what ever is in the ore hold with a 1 minute timer on it.

Then make the module compress a specific type, like moon ore, astroid ore, and ice. That would be decent.
