Regardless of the ship size, a MWD and Warp Drive engine will always take some form of liquid or gas to create the controlled the propulsive force necessary.
A warp drive engine is not 100% mechanical in design, like an all electrical car is.

Modern nuclear submarine takes one fuel source and uses that to power the drives, the sonar, the desalinization plant, the stoves in the kitchen, the lights in the Captainâs quarters. Oh, and it does it all without ever needing refueled. 
So tell us again how far fetched it is that one fuel source powers a bunch of different systems again?
