Gankers and freighters, a request for discussion. Not a BJ RANT

Because I would burn highsec down with it

You can already burn HS down with ganking.

This isnt all that different.

Then how is it a solution to anything? You’re literally just trading mechanics around for no change.

Who said it was a “solution” to anytthing?

Its just another option/feature.

So what you’re saying is, we’re not fixing anything by introducing collision damage, just giving the devs a whole lot of extra work to do for a ‘feature’ that would invariably become the next big thing to complain about after bumping is gone.

Would you agree that ramming would be preferable to bumping, if it could be implemented rationally?

No. People are going to make the same complains about CONCORD protection if a fleet of ships rams into them and explodes them. At least with bumping you can actually do something and your ship isn’t directly in danger of being exploded.

Ramming and suspect flags are unworkable. They would put a large hole in the CrimeWatch safety settings and CrimeWatch itself. If bumping is really a problem, the solution proposed by CCP but never implement is probably the best. There is no need to make the aggression mechanics of highsec even more arcane with exceptions or allow players to explode each other by just ramming them.

I am completely indifferent. I use ramming with frequent success in PVP combat in Elite: Dangerous. It makes the “honourbros” froth at the mouth and rage and accuse you of lacking skill. Which I find incredibly amusing. Whenever someone in that game calls me a bad after they just died to me, I take great pleasure in reminding them that they just lost to a bad. Honestly, my favourite thing to do is load up an AspX with mine launchers that disable drives and FSDs and use that to ram them to death. It’s armour tanked to the nines and can take the damage pretty well, even against the really big ships, cuz the mines do a lot of damage themselves once you get through the shields.

It all comes down to whether or not it’s worth doing, and whether or not something else is more important.

Fair enough.
I can see this as true, however not as you said it.

I will drop the ram suggestion.

I’m sure the next carebear who will pick it up again is just around the corner.

I dont see why a carebear would want to pick it up, as its against their interests.

But BPs post convinced me its just not feasible at this point in EVE development, anymore.

Would do more harm than good,

Because they consistently post ideas that are against their interests, features that they think are going to save them from the ebil space pixel pirates, but that the ebil space pixel pirates will figure out how to use for their own advantage.

I dont see how proposing ramming would save carebears.

You are misunderstanding my intent.

Neither do the carebears. Does anyone remember when I was a carebear and proposing this crap myself? Because it’s not even as if anything in this thread is, or anyone in it is having, an original idea. I have experience as a carebear. They’re going to keep having this ‘original idea’ whether they realise it’s against their best interests or not, until each individual carebear learns better.

EDIT: Jesus, that post gave me awful flashbacks to a time when Anslo and I were on the same side… think I puked in my mouth a little. @Jenn_aSide you’ll get a kick out of this one, I’m sure.

Trying to paint me as a carebear, isnt going to work.
Im one of the most pro pvp posters here, despite not engaging in it myself.
My post history here and on the old boards has never faltered from that.

I’m not trying to paint you as a carebear at all.

You said, and I quote: “I dont see why a carebear would want to pick it up, as its against their interests.”

The response was, they don’t understand that it’s against their best interests, and someone’ll pick it up sooner or later. Or just outright reject that it’s not in their best interests. Either way, you not seeing why a carebear would want to pick it up is irrelevant to whether or not one or more will. I guarantee you, they will.

Explain why carebears would want ramming implemented.

Yes, please implement ramming damage with a suspect flag. That way, when I ram a Machariel into a mining bot’s Orca at full speed, the Orca will also incur a suspect flag as it slams into the 12 Skiffs in front of it, then we can legally nuke the bot’s Orca at our leisure without Concord intervention. See the following example. I’m sure at least a few of the Skiffs would also incur a suspect flag as they ram into and bounce off each other…
