Never have I seen another RPG where there is a class of players (the miners) who are refusing to customise their gear (spaceship) and demand that no matter what they chose as base it has to be completely invincible. Mind you that the actual difficulty of the task at hand here is to just pick the right ship, namely the Procurer or the Skiff and then you are already virtually indestructible.
The most paranoid of miner can then add some tank mods to even eradicate even the last chance of getting killed by the few gankers who have more than just three alts and gank miners instead of Freighters.
But that is all too much to ask for some. All options have to be 100% secure out of the box since the game does not feature spaceship fitting for them but solely targeting a roid and pressing F1.
Have you been playing any other games recently? Because that’s pretty much what modern games devolved into.
Majority of people today are just incapable of thinking themselves and they expect CCP to do it for them. Just like they’re used to from all the other games and their life in general.
Well that is great so they can go to those other games where they can shutdown their brain and we don’t have to deal with them anymore. win-win situation if you ask me.
Except they start crying and demand change every time you tell them that EVE might not be the right game for them. Just look at ganking threads, or the afk cloaky thread. Perfect examples.
Let CCP do it. I can tell ya what’s goin’ to happen then.
Miners are invincible
Mineral and ore prices drop
Miners cry ‘cause they earn less, which’s bogus of course
Gankers start bumpin’ em
Miners become unbumpable
Gankers start minin’ away the roids the miners wanna mine
Stalemate
Miners quit
We win
The reason for that is Delve and Delve alone. High sec mining is insignificant in comparison. No one bumps in Delve, though. No one really engages the miners in Delve, though.
Give it up. They don’t understand this kind of logic. It’s too hard for them to understand.
The risk factor is provided by the players and they are able to shoot gankers at any time. It is not our fault that ag is completely useless. They even have NPCs who help them and still they constantly fail.
So in the end it is really all ag’s fault. Every thread in this forums with tears about about ganking is a testament to ag’s shortcomings.
I’m not bothered by suicide ganking. What I do mind is how unrealistic it is. I’ve done it myself. A bit of sec status recovery and it’s like nothing happened. It’s like being Catholic. Just say sorry for your sins and it all magically goes away.
You mean like planets that never move, or the ability to cross 20au of space in a few seconds?
Games =/= reality, they are games, so they function by a different set of rules to reality. This is a good thing, because if I wanted reality, I’d log off.
Yes, Eve was never big on physics. I bet you didn’t expect me to agree with you. I logged off for 6 years because real life was better. I’m only back because I’m going through a divorce. That’s the only time Eve is better than RL.
If they get it the whines will just become louder, because one group of players will always adapt to the changes while the other seems incapable of any adaption at all.
There’s a word for things that fail to adapt to conditions, extinct.
You lot… You think that when you troll a thread long enough do you eventually win EVE. However, the game has changed and it has gotten safer over time, yet in your ignorance do you believe you’re winning and that you’re sitting in a safe position, when really it isn’t the complainers who have everything to lose but the gankers.
So you are as unreasonable in your counter arguments as those who complain about ganking. You are, as one says, not the solution, but a part of the problem. And whenever CCP makes a change then it’s to solve problems, which ultimately means it’s going to get even safer in the future.
You want to fight for something you believe is worth saving, but you don’t know how and you get thrown in the same pot in the end.
My comment wasn’t a troll, it’s my opinion after seeing it happen many times over the years, both in Eve and in other games. Some players adapt to the game, others want the game to adapt to them, regardless of playstyle the former is a group I’d much rather associate with than the latter.
The counter arguments generally suggest that what people want is already possible, sure CCP have made hisec safer over the years; but for better or worse is a matter of opinion. Personally I think the atmosphere was better in the past with more colourful and interesting people around, as a trader and industrialist many would think I would welcome a safer hisec, but I don’t; safety is boring when you’ve relied on your wits and knowledge to survive, unscathed, for so long.
Entire playstyles have disappeared in the pursuit of players that normally wouldn’t look twice at Eve, that’s not necessarily a good thing tbh.
