The mentality magnus represents is what I and a lot of PvE focused players imagine goes on inside the head of a gank addict or venture hunter. Predatory, intent on inflicting themselves on others, whether in the game or through words on the boards.

I hope I don’t have to tell you that there is a ENORMOUS difference between people shooting a pixel spaceship where you may feel slightly sad you lost at a computer game and sexual assault whose consequences have an absolutely devastating, life destroying effect for the victim.
The fact that you try to mix those two things up to score some cheap shots at someone you disagree with in a video game is completely abhorrent.

I’m glad I triggered a debate here. For the record, I’m a university-educated married man with two daughters. But, sadly, I now find myself in a world full of easily-triggered, hillary-loving millennials who have no capacity for critical reasoning or dry humour. How do I escape this dystopian reality? Oh and in Eve, I’m mostly a carebear, but I love gankers. Thanks for the content!

You should be more careful in your phrasing. “In RL women should be perfectly safe walking through the park late at night in a miniskirt, but alas in many places that would be foolish in the extreme (thanks Obama). Even when properly prepared (thanks 2nd amendment) it is still best to avoid risky situations” is a much less controversial statement. Even so it is best to avoid drawing similarities between RL and ingame, as many anti-gankers have difficulty distinguishing between the two and their half-baked contributions can make a conversation tedious.

Is it my fault for believing it’s my right to wander through the savannah without being eaten by a lion? Where do you people come from? Step away from the computer, travel to a few different countries and understand reality. The real world is a helluva lot worse than dealing with spotty-faced gankers in a computer game. I had no idea there were so many liberals who played Eve.

A predatory mentality and a desire to inflict yourself upon others are at best a negative personality aspect to be managed, and it comes out when you inflict yourself upon others in small ways, disrupting traffic, pointlessly arguing, picking on new players, etc, at worst, it becomes the mentality of magnus.
The fact that you can’t see that means you are just too scared to acknowledge those negative parts of your own personality. Or you are unwilling to admit that disrupting someone else’s recreation is negative, the beach buff mentality, because as long as you and your friends are having fun, who cares about some nerd’s sand castle, right? Are you really so caught up in insisting you’re right that you can’t see the very basic logical connections between these negative behaviors and personality traits, or have the faintest ability to try and self evaluate?
