Of course we did , I know it’s an on going joke about ag failing and sometimes we did but we could stop a 50+ gank fleet with 8 man ag fleet that hit the same freighter 3 times then us once , or stop a fleet of 10 Talos for the loss of one frig and one pilot on grid, so yes we could stop ganker , could you.
It was actually good fighting some of the most skillful gank fleets around , we indeed failed a lot but stopping these guys made new and inexperienced gankers a doddle as some ganker FC while out training new guys will tell you.

I mean they do it for the content. It’s fun to them and that’s it. I can’t see any other reason to do it as it’s not profitable or actually achieving anything. But content is content and to each their own. Similar thing can be said about gankers.

Gankers often crap on AG and vice versa, but I don’t really see that big of a difference other than gankers actually get loot and can play for profit. Although I usually don’t. I enjoy killing things to kill them and if I’m up or neutral that’s a bonus.
A lot of people in this world get their pickles hard by just “messing with someone” and that can be a big motivator. And if you’re motivated you’re usually having fun
sure it can, i still did it a few times with a smartbombing maller only for getting a few killmails years ago …

To tell you the truth we never sat around for hours on end like gate campers or larger fleets in null , we had good intel and if gankers became active we would assemble, or go out hunting roving gank fleets in planned fleets .
One roving fleet came across 3 tornadoes all flashy red and tethered , guy obviously getting ready for a gate gank. We had good DPS so we bumped one of tether , to our suprise we hit the anchoring ship, and the other neatly followed the first ship, we killed them one at a time . It turns out he was afk and turned supper salty on his return.
As for your last question, they never did , it’s not a game style I like so I wanted to see if there was a way to fight what they do , without any real game mechanics available to us. I never was a miner or hauler so never came across them that way.
I wanted both ganking and anti-ganking to be play styles supported by a workable war Dec system .

You would be surprised at the isk and ships we have been given over our time hunting ganker , remember many of there targets are very rich haulers. I was given 1 billion for a 15 min freighter save . Guy was loaded and was pleased someone helped him .
It probably helped that people started to recognise our group and me but we never wanted for ships and isk
Still, just re subbed and going to try some new stuff this time but it was fun.

I have come across many like that , yes frustrating as you are losing ship’s to try and save them but it’s worth it for the good people I have met . Can even say some gankers have become friends
Everything is totally fair in a world in which you can choose ( the operative word ) what role to play. Nobody joins Eve and gets immediately told ’ right…all you can ever do from now on is mine’. People choose to be miners. As such, they choose to be prey. If they don’t want to be prey, the game gives them fully the option to be something else. Simple !
