How about: every time you enter a system a pop-up will come up on the display of everyone in that system that ‘Arthur Aihaken has an achievement score of 295! Well done, Arthur!’
And so for every single character, of course. I don’t think Fenris has realized just how important that number is and to only display it on the character info window is clearly a huge mistake.
I agree, there should always be an option to either show or hide extra info in your character’s profile box…
As for ‘Achievements’, just more proof that Eve has been turned into a scripted theme park… The high task amounts to complete basically guarantee a higher amount of players logged into the game for longer time periods… Just thinking out loud here but that’s definitely a good way to inflate stats in order to establish a high sale price…
Anyway, like it or not, ‘Ring Master’ CCP/FC is directing all us ‘Clowns’ to perform ‘Center Ring’ in their ‘3 Ring Circus’ called Eve Online..
Well at least the game we are used to still exists beneath it and you can completely ignore those things that seem worthless to experienced players.
It seems todays player generation needs to be taken by the hand and guided to goals. Or they have gone completely intoxicated with that achievements and trophy stuff.
So if it attracts new players and keeps them busy doing something, then it is fine with me. Maybe some of them even discover what EVE really can be aside from the themepark if they are hooked by such incentives.
FC just need to bugfix or complete the coding to remove the number from the character info if wanted and all is good for me. If i can turn stuff off and am not bothered by it and others possibly like it, i can accept it.
Yeah, I checked out the ‘Achievements’ content early on and after viewing the outrageous goals to complete, I viewed it as a waste of time and just continued doing my usual game play activities…
As such I now have number 115 under my name in my character info box and yeah, I’d like to remove that… I think my character info box should still look the same as before, especially since I haven’t changed anything, I’m still in the same NPC Corp as when I first started playing this game and I definitely won’t be adding any titles.. And I’d also like to have my portrait unclipped as well…
Basically I don’t like any aspect of the ‘Achievements’ content…
Yeah, this is absolutely true. I mean, we already had quite a nice tool for it (yes, I am talking about the Activity Tracker…). It even reflected EVEs core design of “Level I - V” in the progress…, it fitted quite well into the game. A shame they didn’t use this basic construct for the Achievements…
I have ‘105’…though I’m not clear what its 105 of. Some seems to be for exploring new systems. But when I deliberately explored a dozen new systems I’d never heard of before, the number didn’t change.
So maybe 105 is how old I will be before I understand what this number is.
True, I liked the Activity Tracker. It was clear about what can be tracked and how much of each to reach the next level. The AIR career program does that, yet simplified and with rewards. Not sure why it was necessary to have another one.
