I was killed several times by ghost sites until I figured out how they work. Now I am very careful about them. However, twice now they have abruptly ended with the rats showing up halfway through my first hacking attempt. I wasted no time and did not fail the hack but it said I did. The only commonality between these two incidents is that they were the second ghost site I did within a two-hour period. Could that be it? Are these things rigged to sabotage you if you have already done one successfully?

If you’re in a Frigate or Destroyer, best warp to 0 and quickly hack the one can that’s named differently from all the others, then warp out… A Cruiser or larger ship can pretty much tank the AoE damage so you can try hacking the other cans…
After recent balance changes to ghost sites I had enough time to scan all cans and then hack 3/5 best ones before NPCs showing up in like 90% of cases. Previously I often stopped at 2/5 cans and sometimes I was even chased off from second can by incoming rats. I do those on Astero currently with T2 Analyzer but it is doable with 35 virus strength too.
