I’ve already posted the best mining battleship fit an Alpha can possibly achieve near the beginning of this thread. The fit you just posted is hilariously fail, not to mention Alphas can’t use mining drones. The problem is that Alphas don’t want to mine in ships that can’t be AFK’d…
Why would they when you can rat AFK as an alpha just fine…
Not everyone rats or does PvP. Some players just want to mine. It doesn’t matter if ratting pays more or not, it’s just the style of play they like, myself included. I can make billions mining in high sec. Does it take longer to do than ratting or mining in null? Yes, but that doesn’t bother me one bit.

you’re ignoring cargo size, it will get like 1 cycle then need to dump or else it caps out capacity
As I’ve already explained, mining with any battleship will require that you stagger the mining lasers in order to avoid filling up the cargo hold to where the lasers shut off. You will have to either mine into a jetcan or a fleet hauler. Take the Rokh, for example. You can fit 8 mining lasers on it. Just start one, then ten seconds later another one, ten seconds later another one, etc…

That would be exactly zero m3/min since the Barghest has no turret slots and Alphas can’t use mining drones…

No, I did not. Maybe I should have lead with, yes I did mine in a Rokh in 2008-2009 in Vale of the Silent when I was with the Majesta Alliance.
You start laser 1 and 2, 15 seconds later 3 and 4, 15 seconds later 5-6 and another 15 seconds later 7 and 8.
It is not rocket science and now that the cargo hold is even 820m³ in size, you have some time.
The benefits should be obvious and even without drones, you mine 14.9m³ per second in a battleship.
for less than 40mil I can have a proc with 70k tank, 180dps and mines 22m3/s??? why would I fly a battleship at 5x the cost??

allowing alphas to fly battleships is just ridiculous, the more free ■■■■ peddled to people who don’t pay for it the more free ■■■■ they’ll need to gain progression. this is a behaviour you can witness industry wide and is exactly the reason why everything moved towards skins and lootboxes in the first place.
eve is already experimenting with lootboxes via the agency and its only a matter of time before they’re cash shop items outright, predicated on the need to supply alphas with more ■■■■ to store in station and never fly

why would you want to fly a mining barghest ? the scram range bonus?
Some hobbies cost money. If you aren’t allowed to spend money on games, tough, why would the game need you anyway if you’re not going to support it? As an example, I do a lot of go-karting (it’s not cheap), yet I don’t see wanna be racers queuing up asking for free laps or gear. If they made it free, yes, I’d have more people to race with, but of a much lower quality overall. Freeloader mentality is a blight on Eve (and in general) in my opinion.
I also disagree with the latest Alpha changes. Up to cruiser and only T1 stuff was tolerable. If I had my way there would be no Alphas but a slightly longer old-alpha like trial (as Eve is not a game you can really trial in 2 weeks).
So barges for alphas? No.
Plus the others already told you if something doesn’t feel right with your activity, improve it or do something else.

Must be a hidden troll, silly. The Barghest does not have turret mounts. Mining lasers need turret slots.
