Burst

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

In YC114 each major empire faction, having been embroiled in a harrowing, extensive, long-term war, recognized the growing need for support and logistics functionality in their vessels during the kind of protracted interstellar warfare that might otherwise prove exhausting for its participants. In the Minmatar Republic, this led to the redesign and redeployment of the Burst.

The Burst had been a small and fast cargo vessel. This all changed after the redesign, when the Burst found its small-time mining capabilities curtailed in lieu of logistics systems that moved its focus to shield support for friendly vessels.

Submission Description

The Burst is the premier logistical platform for the Minmatar Republic. While sporting a janky - and quite honestly - unensuring look. The Burst makes up for it as a dependable support vessel capable of restoring shield integrity of allied vessels.

However, the vessel had different purposes sense it’s entry into New Eden. Developed by the Minmatar Mining Corporation, the Burst was first a ship made more for hard labour than frontline combat. With a larger cargo bay than any other Matari frigate and hardpoints for turrets, the Burst would be found in asteroid belts all across Matari space. Digging up invaluable ore to assist in the new Republic’s necessary space development. As well as being a useful cargo vessel for transporting low-volume goods - making it popular among aspiring merchants.

However with the Emergency Militia War Powers Act coming into play, a strong need for a low-cost and effective logistics platform that could support fleets with remote shield transfers is what pushed the humble Burst into active service by the Republic Fleet. Having earned respect as it’s time as a workhorse, the Burst’s design had it’s cargo bay cut down in favor of specialized equipment to boost the effectiveness of Remote Shield transfers to turn it into exactly what the Republic needed in a time of escalating political tensions.

Breacher

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

The Breacher’s structure is little more than a fragile scrapheap, but the ship’s missile launcher hardpoints and superior sensors have placed it among the most valued Minmatar frigates when it comes to long range combat.

Submission Description

The Breacher is a formidable, yet curiously, designed frigate that’s optimized to a weapons platform for missile systems. Perfect for any pilot looking to fight and look aggressive.

Much with any design of Matari design, the Breacher sports a crude design as a majority of the ship’s length comes from the long long LADAR sensor scaffolding that makes up the nose. A fluent and quick description of this ship comes from a Lieutenant Colonel of the Federation Navy named Amme Lynch, who said - during a live interview across both Federal and Republic space - that the Breacher was “A God-dammned LADAR scaffold with a reactor strapped to it’s ass.” A comment, that was thankfully taken to heart as good humored by the Minmatar Republic.

This ship isn’t given respect for it’s look however, the real respect and admiration for the Breacher comes from it’s performance, seeing it in action. With three hardpoints for rockets or missile launchers and a drone bay and bandwidth for two light scout drones, the Breacher is solid offensively. Defensively is where it shines, because naturally the Breacher is built up to support the effectiveness of shield booster modules, allowing for quicker burst shield regains in the middle of battle. However, some pilots would go the route of installing a small armor repair module alongside a shield booster to create a almost impenetrable tank for the vessel, that is capable of throwing off it’s opponents as it will be able to repair both it’s armor plating, and shield integrity. Management of this setup takes practice and skill, but mastery is worthy of respect.

Probe

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

The Probe is large compared to most Minmatar frigates and is considered a good scout and cargo-runner. Uncharacteristically for a Minmatar ship, its hard outer coating makes it difficult to destroy, while the limited weapon hardpoints force it to rely on drone assistance if engaged in combat.

Submission Description

The Probe is astrometric platform capable of hunting down cosmic signatures throughout New Eden. Perfect for the pilot that’s curious about what’s out there hidden in the shadows.

Developed by the Thukker tribe to service in their grand roaming caravan. The Probe was designed to be both a scouting vessel and lightweight cargo ship to transport smaller bits of cargo. In service of the Thukker Tribe, the probe would be used to scan down ominous signatures in their journey, in Hope’s of finding dta routers to hack into or relic starships to loot. Or maybe to check ahead for the carvana and go though stargates to check for any blockades on the other side. The Probe would rarely see combat, but just for self defence should the Probe find itself in combat - the Probe comes with one hardpoint pair for a turret based weapon and a small drone bay and bandwidth.

Outside of the Thukker Tribe and into wider Matari culture. The Probe would be a popular choice to freedom fighter cells to transport supplies, hostages or even troops in a discrete and compact enough ship to slip past Imperial patrols.

Rifter

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Descrption

The Rifter is a very powerful combat frigate and can easily tackle the best frigates out there. It has gone through many radical design phases since its inauguration during the Minmatar Rebellion. The Rifter has a wide variety of offensive capabilities, making it an unpredictable and deadly adversary.

Submission Description

Arguably the most iconic frigates in all of the Minmatar Republic - and New Eden. The Rifter is a legendary frontline combat frigate that has sever the Matari people long before the Minmatar Republic even came about.

Whatever it be coming in close with three autocannons to chew away at it’s target at close range or strapped with artillery howitzers to engage at a distance, the Rifter is a ship to take very seriously. Devised by Matari Engineers when the struggle against their Amarrian oppressors was still alive and heated as ever before, The Rifter would survive as the ultimate weapon in space guerilla warfare as a efficient hit-and-run skirmisher that had both speed and firepower.

It should be noted, that the current day Rifter design is a vastly more modernized ship than the 1st generation of Rifters. The Rifter has gone over two hundred revisions since it’s first inception, Rifters of the past are the actual flying scrapheaps New Eden jokes about, the Rifter of today is a sophisticated piece of technology that merely chooses to maintain the same classic look that strikes fear into the Amarrians long ago.

Slasher

Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book

Current Description

The Slasher is cheap, but versatile. It’s been manufactured en masse, making it one of the most common vessels in Minmatar space. The Slasher is extremely fast, with decent armaments, and is popular amongst budding pirates and smugglers.

Submission Description

A tiny thing, the Slasher is a ship that puts the peddle to the metal and flies under the guns of warships twice as big as itself at breakneck speed.

The Slasher was a ship that was destined for the junkyards after the introduction of the more technologically superior Republic Fleet Firetail, it’s a design that would be saved by more sophisticated technology from other Matsri frigates.

With an extremely low cost to produce and simple layout, the Slasher serves the Minmatar Republic as a disposable interdiction frigate that can put off such a small signature radius that ships utilizing higher caliber turrets might have trouble of actually tracking and shooting. So true tonight’s name, the Slasher can fly in swarm and cut away at cruisers or battleships. That said, the Slasher is capable of holding it’s own in any one-on-one dogfight with another frigate, though in numbers is where the Slasher can shine.

Vigil

Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book

Current Description

The Vigil is an unusual Minmatar ship, serving both as a long range scout as well as an electronic warfare platform. It is fast and agile, allowing it to keep the distance needed to avoid enemy fire while making use of jammers or other electronic gadgets.

Submission Description

For the pilot who’s not interested in shooting, but guiding the shots of those that are - the Vigil is a electronic warfare platform that is useful to ship that’s useful to ships starting at frigates, and all the way up to mighty dreadnaughts.

A majority of ships of Matari design have the mindset of trying to pump as many rounds fo ammunition into it’s target ad quickly as possible. In order to do that, they of course need to be able to hit whatever needs to be ventilated. Here enters the Vigil, a support vessel that excels at utilizing target painting modules. A target painter applies an electronic “Tag” to any target it’s activated on, which in turns benefits allied ships in tracking and hitting the painted target. This could be extremely valuable to fleets fielding larger, bulky ships with higher caliber weapons that might have trouble hitting targets smaller than itself.

With a sizable layout of mid-power slots it could also be fitted with other electronic warfare modules such as warp scrambles or disrupters and stasis webs. At the same, it has the speed to swoop in and web and paint a target down or break off and provide support at range.
