Condor

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

The Condor is fast and agile. It has limited cargo space so it’s not very suitable for trading or mining. It is best used as an assault vessel in a hit-and-run type of operations.

Submission Description

The Condor can be described in these two words - Pure. Speed. - With a 5MN Microwarpdrive (Or 1MN Afterburner) the Condor is a speed demon that can run with the best with them and leave unfortunate targets with limited time to escape.

Designed by the Kaalakiota Corporation under contract by the Caldari Navy. The Condor is a vessel that excels greatly as a ship for scouting or skirmishing. It would find use by the Caldari Navy as a fast and nimble ship for patrols or high speed pursuits.

The Condor was initially designed to be a light fighter, to be deployable and dependent on carriers. However, after the rampant attacks against naval assets by the Guristas pirates in the Mito constellation, the Condor would taken back to the drawing board and scaled up to become a full fledged frigate. The start as a fighter craft however can still be seen in the streamlined design New Eden has today.

Following typical tradition with other Caldari ships, the Condor is another missile platform with hard points suitable for missiles or rocket systems. Aside from weaponry, the Condor has some of the most bleeding edge electronics stuffed into it, allowing for a beautiful harmony between the ship and electronic warfare modules like warp disrupters/scrambles or stasis webs.

With a lightweight and minimalistic chassis, the Condor is a fragile ship that’s better off using a missile system and warp disrupter to stay out of range of a target’s weaponry and keep them stuck on grid. However, if you need to use a scrambler to knock out a target’s propulsion module - the Condor can be fitted with rocket systems to get in close and personal.

Merlin

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

The Merlin is the most powerful combat frigate of the Caldari. Its role has evolved through the years, and while its defenses have always remained exceptionally strong for a Caldari vessel, its offensive capabilities have evolved from versatile, jack-of-all-trades attack patterns into focused and deadly gunfire tactics. The Merlin’s primary aim is to have its turrets punch holes in opponents’ hulls.

Submission Description

The Merlin is the perfect combat frigate for the pilot looking for something clean-cut. Ain’t no goofy gimmicks here - The Merlin is the no-nonsense grunt of the Caldari frigates, sporting both excellent firepower and steadfast defences.

Designed by the Ishukone Corporation, the merlin was to be a durable lightweight platform for hybrid weapon systems, the Merlin would become the ideal frigate in any frontline engagement due to it’s sturdy defensive abilities and damage output with either three railgun or blaster turrets. It would quickly be adopted by other Corporate forces of the State, such as the Lai Dai Protection Service and Home Guard. As well as “borrowed” and “improved” on by the Guristas for their Worm design.

A drawback of this ship lies in its speed. Compared to other frigates of Caldari design, and Merlin takes the title as the slowest and generally used more for close range brawling engagements. That said, being able to fit in railguns, the Merlin is more than capable of eliminating targets at range, without having to sacrifice any of it’s defensive edge.

Bantam

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

In YC114 each major empire faction, having been embroiled in a harrowing, extensive, long-term war, recognized the growing need for support and logistics functionality in their vessels during the kind of protracted interstellar warfare that might otherwise prove exhausting for its participants. In the Caldari State, this led to the redesign and redeployment of the Bantam.

The Bantam, a strong and sturdy craft, was originally an extremely effective mining frigate. After its redesign, the Bantam’s large structure had to give way for logistics systems that ate up some of its interior room but allowed it to focus extensively on shield support for fellow vessels.

Submission Description

The Bantam is the go-to logistical support platform for the Caldari State for small scale fleet operations or border patrols. While mot much use in taking the fight to the enemy by itself, a Bantam still has a place on any battlefield with any fleet with a shield tank doctrine. Capable of providing small - yet invaluable - shield transfers with it’s state of the art shield projection emitter.

However, before the Emergency Militia War Powers Act of YC 114, the Bantam had a more humble beginning in New Eden. Developed by Minedrill, the Bantam was first designed to be used as a lightweight mining vessel with a sizable cargo bay to contain a small quantity of ore. The Bantam would become a popular choice for Capsuleers looking to get their hands dirty in some honest work, and pave the way for the industrial powerhouse Capsuleers enjoy today.

The Bantam’s role of a mining vessel would eventually become outdated as more dedicated mining barges developed by Outer Ring Excavations would become more widespread and preferred. The ship would be handed a new purpose by the Caldari Providence Directorate with the break out of CONCORD’s Emergency Militia War Powers Act of YC 114. The generous cargo space of the Bantam would be cut down to size in favor of adding additional technology to turn it into the logistical frigate it is today.

Offensively, the Bantam is extremely vulnerable, with no advantages in combat aside from being able to provide support to actual combat vessels. Pilots of this frigate should stick close to their wingmen for protection.

Keep your fleet alive, and they’ll keep you alive.

Item: Pod
Current Description:

Standard Capsule

Proposed Description:

The hydrostatric capsule (or “pod”) is believed to be the most flown and lost ship in the entire universe. Initially developed by the Jovians 130 years ago and given to the Caldari, it wasn’t until YC 104 that the capsule has seen public use to those brave enough to get in them. The capsule allows a subject to experience intense nausea, hallucinations and madness in an effort to give the subject the ability to eject from a catastrophic failure of their ship. Most high level pilots with extensive cloning retransplantation training who could stand the unpleasant effects of such were always prioritized into these emergency capsules, which gave them the nickname “capsuleers” over time.

Despite claims of “Feeling like being kicked in the chest by a horse at the speed of light” and being no more than “A bucket seat strapped to a warp engine” the Capsule boasts a tiny signature radius and high agility, allowing the capsuleer to quickly jump to another ship or flee from hostile entities with little consequences. This, unfortunately, means they seen as a trophy to capsuleers on how many pod kills (called “podding”) one can gain in a lifetime. Thankfully, the destruction of a pod simply transmits the pilot’s consciousness to the nearest cloning vat, giving them another capsule and another shot in life.

It wasn’t until recently that variants to the standard capsule has come into production. These newer versions of them boasting various amenities, such as more comfortable seating, supplies of Quafe Zero, or faster nuerotoxic injectors on hull breaches. Despite this renaissance, the core design of the capsule has remained unchanged, as the federations believe to be in the pod as short as possible, although some groups urge the opposite.

Griffin

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE]

Current Description

The Griffin is much used by the Caldari Navy as a support vessel in combat squadrons, using its impressive array of electronic gadgetry to disrupt the operation of target ships, making them easy prey for traditional combat vessels.

Submission Description

Blistering with array units all over it’s hull, the Griffin is for the pilot not interested in winning every fight with brute force - The Griffin is the champion of electronic counter measures (ECM) in it’s class, that’s capable of jamming any targeting system that exists in New Eden. LADAR (Minmatar), radar (Amarrian), gravimetric (Caldari) and magnetometric (Gallente) systems are all vulnerable to this small and delicate craft. A wise pilot would look into what they’re opponents are bringing to the fight, then fit accordingly to stand a better chance of jamming their systems.

In forty years, the Griffin has built a fearsome reputation for itself. Captains commanding ships as large as battleships can feel a chill run down their spine the second one of these tiny crafts land on grid, because the Griffin can temporarily turn their big mighty warship into a useless hundred million ISK paperweight. A ship that’s incapable of locking the enemy up is a ship incapable of fighting back.

Aside from turning targets into helpless victims ready to be bludgeoned to death, a Griffin can be used to disrupt “Logistic chains” set up by logistical wings of enemy fleets. A logistical cruiser that can’t target it’s comrades to transfer repairs or capacitor energy could very well cost their entire force the battle.

Don’t let the size fool you, the Griffin is not to be taken lightly.

It should be noted, that ECM is not guaranteed jam on activation. Factors such as distance from the target or the pilot’s personal skill play a role in whatever or not the target will be jammed. ECM modules all run on cycles that will attempt again and again, With successful jams lasting until cycle completion.

Atron

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

The Atron is a hard nugget with an advanced power conduit system, but little space for cargo. Although it is a good harvester when it comes to mining, its main ability is as a combat vessel.

Submission Description

Qualifying as a frigate just barely, the Atron was the Federation Navy’s answer to the Caldari State’s lightning fast Condor. This ship is for those looking to fly at high speeds and run down any long-range equipped vessels.

Under contract by the Federation Navy, the Atron was designed by Roden Shipyards after the Caldari Navy first unveiled Condor in combat, which would immediately exploit the limitations of the Federal Navy’s more bulkier and slow Incrusus and Comet.

The Atron had to be designed to chase these frigates down and unleash hellfire at point blank range. As such, with a 5MN Microwarp drive, three blaster turrets and a stasis webifier - the Atron can run up on any pilot trying to pull range, web them down, and ventilate their hull with antimatter charges. That said, the Atron is also no stranger to the occasional brawl with another short-range vessel. Capable of supporting a small ancillary armor repairer module, the Atron can provide itself repairs in a engagement, but if the armor fails - some Atrons may very well have the structure of their ship rigged up to be a third - but final - defensive shell.

Maulus

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE]

Current Description

The Maulus is a high-tech vessel, specialized for electronic warfare. It is particularly valued in fleet warfare due to its optimization for sensor dampening technology.

Submission Description

The Maulus is a cheap and resourceful electronic counter measure platform designed by Dovolle Laboratories. Perfect for the pilot looking to drag in long range combats for their fleet to chew up

During the first Gallente Caldari war, the Federation Navy needed a cost effective answer to the Caldari’s rampant use of long range tactics and weaponry. Built to utilize sensor dampening modules that can reduce a target’s range and speed to lock-on to anything. By loading a script, the dampening can be swayed towards even less targeting range or longer lock-up times.

Primarily for self-defence, the Mualus has two hardpoint for hybrid turrets and a respectable drone bay and bandwidth, capable of storing six combat drones and deploying four at a time.

Incursus

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE]

Current Description

The Incursus may be found both spearheading and bulwarking Gallente military operations. Its speed makes it excellent for skirmishing duties, while its resilience helps it outlast its opponents on the battlefield. Incursus-class ships move together in groups and can quickly and effectively gang up on ships many times their size and overwhelm them. In recent years the Incursus has increasingly found its way into the hands of pirates, who love its aggressive appearance.

Submission Description

The Incursus is a poster-frigate of the Gallente Federation. An agile, broad-shouldered frontline combat frigate ready to pierce though the confidence of anyone going toe-to-toe with it.

As the aggressive - yet - heroic design implies, the Incrsus is a ship designed to be a in-your-face brawler, with a formidable armor skin that can be furthered reinforced by additional low-power armor modules. Most notably, small armor repair modules, which enable pilots to self-repair their armor plating in the heat of battle. The Incursus is in fact designed to use these specific modules, thus sporting advanced nanorepair pumps to improve repair efficiency. This trait leads to the creation of the more infamous “Duel rep” incursus that sports two of these modules to double their repair output. This - obviously applies ridiculous strain on the ship’s capacitor and would thus be supplemented by a small electrochemical capacitor booster in their mid-power slots to eject additional power when needed.

Being such an independent, ruthlessly efficient and cost-effective frontline vessel, the Incrusus quickly established itself as an extremely popular ship in the Federation Navy, taking place right under it’s technological successor the Comet for the most loved vessel of Navy service personnel. This popularity lead to it appearing in countless recruitment ads throughout it’s year in service and used as a symbol in propaganda posters to strike fear in their enemies.

For the frigate class, the Incursus is the representative of the Gallente’s military prowess.

Navitas

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE]

Current Description

In YC114 each major empire faction, having been embroiled in a harrowing, extensive, long-term war, recognized the growing need for support and logistics functionality in their vessels during the kind of protracted interstellar warfare that might otherwise prove exhausting for its participants. In the Gallente Federation, this led to the redesign and redeployment of the Navitas.

The Navitas had been a solid mining vessel that had seen wide use by independent excavators, along with being one of the best ships available for budding traders and even for much-maligned scavengers. After its redesign, its long-range scanners and sturdy outer shell gave way entirely for remote repairing capabilities, moving the Navitas away from the calming buzz of mining lasers and into the roar of battle.

Submission Description

The Navitas is the standard logistical platform in the frigate class of the Gallente Federation. A welcomed addition to any small fleet enforcing an armor doctrine.

Developed first by Outer Ring Excavations however, the Navitas would first appear in New Eden as a mining vessel with a cargo bay big enough to hold any goods dug up. This cargo bay however would also find itself as a popular choice for traders, smugglers who use the ample cargo space to move small-scale goods across long distances. Oddly enough, the size of the cargo bay can (and has been) be remodeled into a compact pleasure hub.

The Navitas would enter proper military service in YC 114 with the CONCORD Emergency Militia War Powers Act going into action. Engineers of the Federal Combined Armed Forces would take the design of the Navitas, used up some of the extra cargo space to store subsystems turned to hand out remote logistical supports.

Imicus

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE]

Current Description

The Imicus is a slow but hard-shelled frigate, ideal for any type of scouting activity. Used by merchant, miner and combat groups, the Imicus is usually relied upon as the operation’s eyes and ears when traversing low security sectors.

Submission Description

Quite possibly the strangest frigate design to come out of the Gallente Federation, the Imicus is the half-baked drone platform design of the CreoDron Corporation. A frigate that makes up for all it’s flaws as a astrometric platform that excels at deep space exploration and scouting.

Initially cobbled together to be a competitor to Roden Shipyard’s Tristan, the Imicus wouldn’t see production until half a decade later after the original blueprint was first shown to the Federal Navy. It would enter service as a non-combat scouting and reconnaissance vessel, at first the adoption of this vessel was slow, with it having horrendous maintenance issues across all units it was issued into. Kinks that would all be dinged out by the time it entered the wider commercial sector as a astrometric platform.

Offensively, don’t expect this vessel to stand tall against a serious and more dedicated combat vessel. The imicus sports only one hardpoint for a Hybrid turret - but contains a drone system and bay more sophisticated than it’s counterparts in the other empires.

The onboard 300-series photon microprocessor mainframe developed by Duvolle Laboratories also gives the Imicus an edge with handling any tasks that require a data or relic analyzer.

Tristan

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE]

Current Description

Often nicknamed The Fat Man this nimble little frigate is mainly used by the Federation in escort duties or on short-range patrols. The Tristan has been very popular throughout Gallente space for years because of its versatility. It is rather expensive, but buyers will definitely get their money’s worth, as the Tristan is one of the more powerful frigates available on the market.

Submission Description

For the pilot looking to wield a swarm of killer robotic drones to eviscerate their opposition, the Tristan is a dedicated drone-platform that offers a wide range of flexibility.

Developed by Roden Shipyards, the Tristan has established a reputation as a dependable workhouse to the Federal Navy that can adapt to a multitude of situations. Going into battle against a Tristan is like pulling a wildcard, the Tristan has far more liberty with it’s fittings given that most of the firepower is in the ship’s drone capabilities. Some Tristans can be found both at long-range and close range, with three slots for high-power modules and two turret hardpoints, a Tristan can be given a small energy neutralizer and two blasters to inflict some serious close-range punishment - or go all out with three energy neutralizers to leave targets with no power to fight back. Long-range shield Tristans can be found without any high-powered modules at all in favor of putting the vessel’s CPU and PG towards stronger shield integrity or drone control. While effective fitted either with shields or armor, some pilots will even jury rig their structure to be a final and thick last line of defence.

The Tristan is a ship worthy of calling itself an combat frigate, undoubtedly one to not underestimate or scoff at.

Ferox (ship) - current description
Designed as much to look like a killing machine as to be one, the Ferox will strike fear into the heart of anyone unlucky enough to get caught in its crosshairs. With the potential for sizable armament as well as tremendous electronic warfare capability, this versatile gunboat is at home in a great number of scenarios.

Ferox (ship) - proposed description
An aggressive ship both in terms of design and armament. Offense consists of six medium hybrid turrent slots which threaten a wide range of enemy ships. The additional high power slot is ideal for a command burst module (fleeting) or a solo mission accessory such as a probe launcher, salvager etc. The drone bay provides space for five light drones. Defense consists of a formidable six medium slots and four low slots. This allows for considerable pilot customisation, particularly in terms of shield tanking and speed.

Usually more affordable that it’s peers, the versatile Ferox is an excellent “first choice” of battlecruiser for new players - while remaining an “old favourite” of the more experienced. Easily upgradable and at home in a variety of scenarios.

As a some-time T2 ship builder, the spartan description of the parts for T2 ships is just underwhelming, especially as it is a wonderful chance to make the nations in EVE actually stand out as having different ways of thinking, and therefore, solving problems.

As such, some sample submissions:

Crystalline Carbonide Armor Plate

Current:
Armor Component used primarily in Gallente ships. A component in various other technology as well.

Suggested:
Armor plates made of Crystalline Carbonide composites offer an unparalleled strength-to-weight ratio. This property is favored by the shipwrights of the Gallente Federation, as it allows their ships to absorb significant incoming fire, without sacrificing speed or agility.

Tungsten Carbide Armor Plate:

Current:
Armor Component used primarily in Amarr ships. A component in various other technology as well.

Suggested:
Armor forged of Tungsten Carbonide offers substantial strength, while retaining adaptability. This comes at the expense of some speed and agility, a trade-off that Amarrian astronautic engineers make willingly.

Titanium Diborate Armor Plate:
Current:
Armor Component used primarily in Caldari ships. A component in various other technology as well.

Suggested:
Caldari ships have traditionally been built with Titanium Diborate armor. While immensely strong and malleable, it greatly increases the mass of a ship and advanced armor technologies are not optimized to work with the unique molecular structure. Caldari ship builders prefer to honor they ways of their ancestors, and mitigate the bulky armor by using fewer and thinner plates, counting on the massive strength of the material, and their advanced shield technologies, to compensate.

Fernite Carbide Composite Armor Plate

Current:
Armor Component used primarily in Minmatar ships. A component in various other technology as well.

Suggested:
These ceramic plates are favored by the Minmatar for their exceptional lightness. While not as strong as other armor solutions, they provide reasonable protection at a minimum of weight, giving Minmatar ships exceptional speed and handling, all while retaining the ability of many hulls to use armor as a primary defense, an invaluable asset when operating in conjuction with their Gallente allies.

I just feel like the components should have much more cultural flair to them, rather than “this armor plate is Gallente because we wanted everyone to use different parts”.

Ferox (ship) - proposed description no. 2
An aggressive design resembling a predatory insect. A scary space-wasp strapped to as many engines as possible. Her offense is nasty, her defense is worse and her speed options are bad news. Affordable, highly customisable and versatile. Good for both fleeting and a variety of solo missions.

Burst

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

In YC114 each major empire faction, having been embroiled in a harrowing, extensive, long-term war, recognized the growing need for support and logistics functionality in their vessels during the kind of protracted interstellar warfare that might otherwise prove exhausting for its participants. In the Minmatar Republic, this led to the redesign and redeployment of the Burst.

The Burst had been a small and fast cargo vessel. This all changed after the redesign, when the Burst found its small-time mining capabilities curtailed in lieu of logistics systems that moved its focus to shield support for friendly vessels.

Submission Description

The Burst is the premier logistical platform for the Minmatar Republic. While sporting a janky - and quite honestly - unensuring look. The Burst makes up for it as a dependable support vessel capable of restoring shield integrity of allied vessels.

However, the vessel had different purposes sense it’s entry into New Eden. Developed by the Minmatar Mining Corporation, the Burst was first a ship made more for hard labour than frontline combat. With a larger cargo bay than any other Matari frigate and hardpoints for turrets, the Burst would be found in asteroid belts all across Matari space. Digging up invaluable ore to assist in the new Republic’s necessary space development. As well as being a useful cargo vessel for transporting low-volume goods - making it popular among aspiring merchants.

However with the Emergency Militia War Powers Act coming into play, a strong need for a low-cost and effective logistics platform that could support fleets with remote shield transfers is what pushed the humble Burst into active service by the Republic Fleet. Having earned respect as it’s time as a workhorse, the Burst’s design had it’s cargo bay cut down in favor of specialized equipment to boost the effectiveness of Remote Shield transfers to turn it into exactly what the Republic needed in a time of escalating political tensions.

Breacher

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

The Breacher’s structure is little more than a fragile scrapheap, but the ship’s missile launcher hardpoints and superior sensors have placed it among the most valued Minmatar frigates when it comes to long range combat.

Submission Description

The Breacher is a formidable, yet curiously, designed frigate that’s optimized to a weapons platform for missile systems. Perfect for any pilot looking to fight and look aggressive.

Much with any design of Matari design, the Breacher sports a crude design as a majority of the ship’s length comes from the long long LADAR sensor scaffolding that makes up the nose. A fluent and quick description of this ship comes from a Lieutenant Colonel of the Federation Navy named Amme Lynch, who said - during a live interview across both Federal and Republic space - that the Breacher was “A God-dammned LADAR scaffold with a reactor strapped to it’s ass.” A comment, that was thankfully taken to heart as good humored by the Minmatar Republic.

This ship isn’t given respect for it’s look however, the real respect and admiration for the Breacher comes from it’s performance, seeing it in action. With three hardpoints for rockets or missile launchers and a drone bay and bandwidth for two light scout drones, the Breacher is solid offensively. Defensively is where it shines, because naturally the Breacher is built up to support the effectiveness of shield booster modules, allowing for quicker burst shield regains in the middle of battle. However, some pilots would go the route of installing a small armor repair module alongside a shield booster to create a almost impenetrable tank for the vessel, that is capable of throwing off it’s opponents as it will be able to repair both it’s armor plating, and shield integrity. Management of this setup takes practice and skill, but mastery is worthy of respect.

Probe

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

The Probe is large compared to most Minmatar frigates and is considered a good scout and cargo-runner. Uncharacteristically for a Minmatar ship, its hard outer coating makes it difficult to destroy, while the limited weapon hardpoints force it to rely on drone assistance if engaged in combat.

Submission Description

The Probe is astrometric platform capable of hunting down cosmic signatures throughout New Eden. Perfect for the pilot that’s curious about what’s out there hidden in the shadows.

Developed by the Thukker tribe to service in their grand roaming caravan. The Probe was designed to be both a scouting vessel and lightweight cargo ship to transport smaller bits of cargo. In service of the Thukker Tribe, the probe would be used to scan down ominous signatures in their journey, in Hope’s of finding dta routers to hack into or relic starships to loot. Or maybe to check ahead for the carvana and go though stargates to check for any blockades on the other side. The Probe would rarely see combat, but just for self defence should the Probe find itself in combat - the Probe comes with one hardpoint pair for a turret based weapon and a small drone bay and bandwidth.

Outside of the Thukker Tribe and into wider Matari culture. The Probe would be a popular choice to freedom fighter cells to transport supplies, hostages or even troops in a discrete and compact enough ship to slip past Imperial patrols.

Rifter

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Descrption

The Rifter is a very powerful combat frigate and can easily tackle the best frigates out there. It has gone through many radical design phases since its inauguration during the Minmatar Rebellion. The Rifter has a wide variety of offensive capabilities, making it an unpredictable and deadly adversary.

Submission Description

Arguably the most iconic frigates in all of the Minmatar Republic - and New Eden. The Rifter is a legendary frontline combat frigate that has sever the Matari people long before the Minmatar Republic even came about.

Whatever it be coming in close with three autocannons to chew away at it’s target at close range or strapped with artillery howitzers to engage at a distance, the Rifter is a ship to take very seriously. Devised by Matari Engineers when the struggle against their Amarrian oppressors was still alive and heated as ever before, The Rifter would survive as the ultimate weapon in space guerilla warfare as a efficient hit-and-run skirmisher that had both speed and firepower.

It should be noted, that the current day Rifter design is a vastly more modernized ship than the 1st generation of Rifters. The Rifter has gone over two hundred revisions since it’s first inception, Rifters of the past are the actual flying scrapheaps New Eden jokes about, the Rifter of today is a sophisticated piece of technology that merely chooses to maintain the same classic look that strikes fear into the Amarrians long ago.

Slasher

Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book

Current Description

The Slasher is cheap, but versatile. It’s been manufactured en masse, making it one of the most common vessels in Minmatar space. The Slasher is extremely fast, with decent armaments, and is popular amongst budding pirates and smugglers.

Submission Description

A tiny thing, the Slasher is a ship that puts the peddle to the metal and flies under the guns of warships twice as big as itself at breakneck speed.

The Slasher was a ship that was destined for the junkyards after the introduction of the more technologically superior Republic Fleet Firetail, it’s a design that would be saved by more sophisticated technology from other Matsri frigates.

With an extremely low cost to produce and simple layout, the Slasher serves the Minmatar Republic as a disposable interdiction frigate that can put off such a small signature radius that ships utilizing higher caliber turrets might have trouble of actually tracking and shooting. So true tonight’s name, the Slasher can fly in swarm and cut away at cruisers or battleships. That said, the Slasher is capable of holding it’s own in any one-on-one dogfight with another frigate, though in numbers is where the Slasher can shine.

Vigil

Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book

Current Description

The Vigil is an unusual Minmatar ship, serving both as a long range scout as well as an electronic warfare platform. It is fast and agile, allowing it to keep the distance needed to avoid enemy fire while making use of jammers or other electronic gadgets.

Submission Description

For the pilot who’s not interested in shooting, but guiding the shots of those that are - the Vigil is a electronic warfare platform that is useful to ship that’s useful to ships starting at frigates, and all the way up to mighty dreadnaughts.

A majority of ships of Matari design have the mindset of trying to pump as many rounds fo ammunition into it’s target ad quickly as possible. In order to do that, they of course need to be able to hit whatever needs to be ventilated. Here enters the Vigil, a support vessel that excels at utilizing target painting modules. A target painter applies an electronic “Tag” to any target it’s activated on, which in turns benefits allied ships in tracking and hitting the painted target. This could be extremely valuable to fleets fielding larger, bulky ships with higher caliber weapons that might have trouble hitting targets smaller than itself.

With a sizable layout of mid-power slots it could also be fitted with other electronic warfare modules such as warp scrambles or disrupters and stasis webs. At the same, it has the speed to swoop in and web and paint a target down or break off and provide support at range.

Tobacco

Once heavily frowned upon for its negative health effects, in an era of cloning and advanced medicine smoking is now a habit only frowned upon for its obnoxious odor. With the term “death-sticks” losing context, new slang around the galaxy refers to these finely rolled paper tubes of shredded tobacco as “stink-sticks”. Despite the widespread disdain for the habit, there will always be a portion of humanity who are drawn to the oral fixation and accompanying high that comes from smoking this pungent herb.

“Wanna buy some stink-sticks?” - Common tobacco dealer introduction

Hydrogen Batteries

Often mispronounced as “Harbulary” batteries, hydrogen batteries have become a galactic standard in both industry and the public domain. One of the most efficient power units developed to date, these versitile energy cells power almost everything from space station mega-structures to personal appliances…

Antibiotics

Wherever there is excitement and adventured, disease and dismemberment are sure to follow! If it weren’t for these marvels of modern medicine the smallest scrapes and boo-boos on foreign worlds would spell certain death following the onset infection. Always in high-demand especially on the frontiers of newly colonized space, antibiotics are a consistently reliable commodity to invest and trade.

Homeless

Commonly referred to as "transients, “bums”, and “Joes”. These poor souls can be found in nearly every sector of the galaxy, but are especially common throughout Caldari space. Notoriously filthy and unpredictable most citizens of New Eden avoid them like the plague they’ve been known to carry, leaving them virtually helpless to escape their own crippling poverty. While the various governments have their own unique measures for managing the petty crime that often arises from this demographic, the Amarrian Empire by far has the most controversial approach. Under Amarrain law, any person(s) found guilty of a crime who does not themselves own a legal residence may be sold into slavery rather than be subject to a term of imprisonment.

Raven

Known to many throughout the state as the Caldari Warbird, the Raven has become a symbol of pride for the nation and the powerhouse of the Caldari Navy. Armed to the teeth with missile launchers, powerful shield systems, and a respectable drone bay, few ships can rival it in terms of strength and majesty. During its first years of deployment it had an impeccable service record with zero losses in the field.

The first accounted loss of a Raven in service of the Caldari Navy was the “Ebon Aegis” defending the Jita system from on of the most bold and daring Sansha incursions ever launched. The second recorded loss was the “Infallible” which self destructed due to an accidental activation of its emergency sequence.

Coercer

A true masterpiece born of Amarrian bloodlust, the Coercer was developed specifically to counter the rising onslaught of vast fleets of swift and agile Minmatar frigates. With eight turret hardpoints and the finest armor Amarrian gold can buy, the lethal design has acquired several nicknames from the factions upon which it often preys including the “Golden Ravager”, “Decimators”, and “Shiny Death Ships”.

Tayra

The evolution of the now defunct Badger Mark II, in the pursuit of achieving the highest potential cargo-capacity, during development of the Tayra Caldari engineers asked themselves one question; “How many cargo containers can we slap on the front of this thing without it collapsing?!” The answer, four! Though prototypes of the Tayra were successfully flown to warn to warp speeds utilizing six and eight containers, every attempt with these models to warp with a loaded cargo bay lead to catastrophic structural failures.

Rupture

The rupture may be slow compared to other ships of Minmatar design, but for what it lacks in speed it more than makes up for in raw fire-power. Considered by many to be a warp-capable mobile defense turret, the Rupture is often deployed by the Minmatar Republic to defends space stations and other stationary targets, as well as heavy fire support in massive attack formations. Even the well armored fleets of the Amarrian Empire give second thought to attacking installations defended by these relentless behemoths.

Sigil

The Sigil is the most recent ship to be released by Viziam, developed to counter the increase in Minmatar freedom fighter raids on Amarrian slave transports. Based on older “Slave-Runner” designs the sigil sacrifices cargo capacity for the speed and nimbleness required to evade a random ambush. Fortunately for the stocks of Viziam the Sigil has been remarkably successful in its intended purpose.

Crucifier

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

The Crucifier was first designed as an explorer/scout, but the current version employs the electronic equipment originally intended for scientific studies for more offensive purposes. The Crucifier’s electronic and computer systems take up a large portion of the internal space leaving limited room for cargo or traditional weaponry.

Submission Description

The current day Crucifier is practically an entirely new vessel than it’s former self. After undergoing a drastic overhaul in both shape and purpose, the Crucifier is an incredible electronic warfare platform for any pilot looking to fulfill a specialized support role.

The original Crucifer was the oldest serving frigate within the Amarr Empire as a astrometric platform that was invaluable in the early years of Amarrian expansion. However after the emergence of of independent Capsuleers in YC 105, a mandate was signed to have the Crucifer fully redesigned from the keel up. After a research program lasting four years, they had their ship.

The Crucifier is an exceptional support frigate that specializes at weapon disruption. Fitted with tracking disruption modules, the Crucfier can give the turrets of enemy ships a hard time with tracking them, and reducing their optimal range. Though the power of scripts that can be loaded into the modules, the effect can be swayed stronger towards one of the effects. For missiles, there exist guidance disrupters that hamper missile launchers in both range or precision.

Magnate

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

This Magnate-class frigate is one of the most decoratively designed ship classes in the Amarr Empire, considered to be a pet project for a small, elite group of royal ship engineers for over a decade. The frigate’s design has gone through several stages over the past decade, and new models of the Magnate appear every few years. The most recent versions of this ship – the Silver Magnate and the Gold Magnate – debuted as rewards in the Amarr Championships in YC105, though the original Magnate design is still a popular choice among Amarr pilots.

Submission Description

The Magnate is both an old ship, and a young ship. The Magnate is the Amarr Empire’s modernized exploration vessel after the Crucifier was redeveloped to become an electronic Warfare platform.

The Magnate’s hull comes directly from it’s prestigious and luxurious Gold Magnate ancestor. A ship that was so valuable and rare that it was produced in an extremely limited quantity. However, the Magnate would later receive a standard and far more cheaper production line to serve as a workhouse instead of a parade ship.

With modern astrometric systems installed to assist probe launchers, the Magnate is an efficient vessel for explorers looking to track down cosmic signatures. As well as having processing equipment to be an efficient hacker for ship derelicts or router mainframes out in space.

Tormentor

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current description

The Tormentor has been in service for many decades. For most of that time it saw service as a mining ship, its size barring it from making any kind of impact on the battlefield. As with most Amarr ships, however, its strong defenses always made it a tough opponent to crack, and with recent advances in turret capacitor use and damage output, its lasers have now stopped digging into dead ore and are instead focused on boring through the hulls of hapless vessels in combat.

Submission Description

Currently the oldest frigate type to still be in active service to the Imperial Armed Force, the Tormentor is a solid attack frigate with a good balance between offence and defence.

For the first iteration of the ship’s life, the Tormentors served diligently as a astrometric platform, that would also occasionally be used for mining operations in the early days of galactic industry. As the Amarr Empire begun revising several frigates in their lineups, the Tormentor was picked up and given a more combat oriented role.

Gone were the subsystems to assist in deep space exploration, in it’s place were optimization to make it an efficient platform for energy based weaponry. It’s original armor hull also serves well in combat, and typically complimented with a small armor repair module for in-combat repairs.

Executioner

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

The Executioner is another newly commissioned ship of the Amarr Imperial Navy. The Executioner was designed specially to counter the small, fast raider frigates of the Minmatar Republic; thus it is different from most Amarr ships in favoring speed over defenses. With the Executioner, the Amarrians have expanded their tactical capabilities on the battlefield.

Submission Description

Needing an answer to the unruly speed and agility of the Minmatar’s small compact ships, departing from the Amarrian ship design philosophy of superior defensive capabilities, the Executioner rushes into battle with incredible speed and agility.

The Executioner is a direct technological descendant of the fearsome Imperial Navy Slicer, with many subsystems from the slicer making it way into the Executioner’s final design. Compared to the Slicer, the Executioner is a cost-effective alternative that nearly captures the efficiency of the Slicer, but far more easy to mass-manufacture and maintain.

The Executioner has the speed to pull range and engage a target, but they’re just as likely to be found up in your face with webifiers and warp scrambles, and they can take the beating, a common addition to an Executioner’s fitting are small armor repair modules to personally repair any damage done to their armor plating - that they will almost certainly be getting at point blank range.

Inquisitor

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

In YC114 each major empire faction, having been embroiled in a harrowing, extensive, long-term war, recognized the growing need for support and logistics functionality in their vessels during the kind of protracted interstellar warfare that might otherwise prove exhausting for its participants. In the Amarr Empire, this led to the redesign and redeployment of the Inquisitor.

The Inquisitor was originally an example of how the Amarr Imperial Navy modeled their design to counter specific tactics employed by the other empires. After its redesign, it was exclusively devoted to the role of a support frigate, and its formerly renowned missile capabilities gave way to a focus on remote armor repair.

Submission Description

Unlike the Bantam, Burst and Navitas. The Inquisitor didn’t get it’s start as a mining and light cargo vessel. However serve a different function prior to becoming the standard issue logical frigate platform for the Amarr Empire.

The Inquisitor is the technological brother of the Tormentor frigate, sharing not only it’s shape, buy many of the basic foundation establishing subs systems. Faster and more agile than the Tormentor, the Inquisitor would be fielded along the Empire’s borders as a missile platform against Matari freedom fighters and Blood Raiders looking to pillage vulnerable colonies and stations.

As a steadfast valiant defender, the Inquisitor would accend to it’s true calling as a durable logistical platform with the Emergency Militia War Powers Act in YC 114 passing and the need for a dedicated logistics vessel to assist frigate and destroyers arouse. Gone were the ship’s renowned missiles systems, and in it’s place were it’s new nanite projection subsystems to amplify the efficiency of remote armor repair modules. The Inquisitor now stands apart of every branch of the Imperial navy as a must have ship for it’s low-cost and efficiency in support roles.

Punisher

[Lore sourced from Frigates of EVE book]

Current Description

The Punisher is considered by many to be one of the best Amarr frigates in existence. As evidenced by its heavy armaments, the Punisher is mainly intended for large-scale military operations, acting in coordination with larger military vessels. With its damage output, however, it is also perfectly capable of punching its way right through unwary opponents.

Submission Description

The Punisher is regarded as one of the greatest frigate designs to be developed by the Amarr Empire. This is a frontline combat frigate for pilots looking to dish out some punishment - but take some aswell.

The Punisher us a energy weapon platform with a thick armor coating unlike any other frigate of it’s tier. It can be seen used in every single corner of the Amarr Empire for security and military operations, but also wholeheartedly adopted by smugglers and mercenaries and most notably - the Blood Raiders - who all acknowledge the incredible combat capabilities of the Punisher.

Ironically, the Punisher can take a lot of punishment. With a wide layout for low-power armor modules, a Punisher can be fitted to withstand astonishing amounts of firepower that is both impressive, but incredibly frustrating to go up against. This incredible armor makes it a durable and cheap ship to lure out targets, trap and hold out for a fleet to arrive to eliminate the target.

If you’re going up against a Punisher, bring a friend.

And there we go, submissions for descriptions for every T1 empire frigate! Now i may rest.

My thanks to you @CCP_Falcon and the GM team for making this contest. This has been a good writing exercise for myself and gave me a reason to read deeper into the Frigates of EVE artbook. I now have a new found respect for T1 frigates after reading this. I tried to balance lore and in-game information for the descriptions, give a little of both worlds, while also trying to sell the reader on the ship. I pray my submissions are not too long!

Hecate

The Hecate-class destroyer is the Gallente Federation’s final answer in the sleeper-derived weapons development race between the Four Empires in late YC116 to mid YC117. After an extensive research period, Federation-commissioned Roden Shipyards was able to develop a ship which was capable of quick insertion into enemy lines while providing heavy firepower and support.

Due to rising tensions between the other empires and staunch opposition from certain Federation senators, Roden Shipyards was required to alter the design in order to reduce the maximum achievable firepower before releasing the Hecate to the Gallente Federation for official service. However, the Hecate is unrivalled in close-range firepower compared to other ships of its size.

Equipped with the ability to adjust the ship’s configurations mid-flight, the Hecate provides its pilots with unmatched adaptability and versatility on the battlefield.

With the Hecate at the forefront of the Federation’s engagements, the Gallente Federation is able to enact the change necessary to pave the way for a better future for New Eden.

Captain’s Quarters airlock door

This door once stood proudly locking away the captain’s quarters belonging to capsuleers in every station in new eden. It protected the general population from having to interact with the often unpredictable and dangerous capsuleers found frequently spinning their ships.

Rumored behind the door was a perpetual plasma fire with an unfortunate soul trapped between life and death by the name of CCP Soundwave. It is said he gave his life to protect the non-capsuleers from the pod pilots, offering a quiet place of solace and shelter from an otherwise very uncertain life.

It was announced by Concord that the Empires of New Eden would be canceling the test program that gave Captain’s Quarters to capsuleers a few years after their sudden inception. In response to this announcement a group of enterprising capsuleers got a team together with a very special set of skills. This team removed the doors of every station they docked in, stockpiling them in anticipation of nostalgic capsuleer collectors everywhere, including this one. The team soon discovered that the door control panel was actually incorrectly wired and the main reason the door did not actually function.

Ferox (ship) - proposed description no. 3
An aggressive design resembling a predatory insect. A scary space-wasp hull packed with as many engines as possible. Her offense is nasty, her defense is formidable and her speed options are bad news for the enemy. Affordable, highly customisable and versatile. Good for both fleeting and a variety of solo missions.

Salt (sodium chloride (NaCl))

A mineral required by biological life to retain water. Often used to season food, but more recently associated with capsuleer pilots complaining on New Eden’s many public and private venues of discourse.

Science Graduates
A strange man with a wandering gaze, calling himself a scientist. Of course, modern science is complex and not easily understood by everyone, but this person is alarming and suspicious. Concord very carefully checks such passengers, but this does not stop the capsuleers from taking them on board. Who knows, maybe an accidental scientific discovery made on board of your ship will make you fabulously rich?

Homeless
From the very beginning of the conquest of the galaxy, there are homeless people. Pilots love to carry them on their ships. It is believed that the homeless are very sensitive to changes and never fly on ships that will not return to the dock.
Concord policemen turn their nose and never climb to check their things. Pirates and bandits bypass them, because they have nothing to profit from. In short, a homeless person is a smuggler’s dream. But that smell …

Tourists
It is believed that when you have tourists on a ship, pirates and bandits can take you for a peaceful ship and will not notice your guns. Unfortunately, no one has yet been able to confirm or refute this theory …

Janitor
The janitor is the most important member of the team, after the captain. The janitor sees everything, walks everywhere, hears everyone. Do not discuss your secrets when janitor is nearby. The janitor is absolutely indispensable in the mornings when you urgently need to find missing socks. The janitor can even clear this text from the word “janitor” .
