Golden ammo

I second the sentiment, if not the the phrasing.
I do get it where the phrasing’s coming from and can empathise.

I have merged 3 posts with the same theme in this one here.

Gold ammo, ■■■■■■■ yuck! Ccp you’re better than this…At least I thought you were.

I did not biomass, either, but I did give away my stuff, or most of it. I figure if the game were fun the lack of ‘stuff’ wouldn’t stop me from playing again, and I wanted my stuff to be enjoyed by someone (friends, people doing things I thought were interesting or healthy for the game as a whole), instead of going to waste in a hanger I may or may not come back to.

How dare you sir. I have spent 20 years putting the memories of having to walk to the genetics lab at 11 at night in the snow to check eye colors on the new batch behind me. And then it gets brought up…here? In my safe space?

Meh. If I come up against a Paladin in my travels…why should I care if the owner grinded for 2 years to buy it and waited 4 months for the training…or got their wallet out and bought an entire character plus Paladin ? Does it affect the outcome ? No.

I think you missed the new combat booster that gives the Paladin that bought the 70$ pack an advantage over the person who did not pay.

It would be time limited ( like most boosters ) and have an expiry date…in addition to which it only lasts 2 days once applied. Not really worth throwing one’s toys out of the pram over.

Personally I use my wallet because I am tired of the grind. After almost 2 years in Eve I still don’t have that Paladin. So ironically I am at the other end of the scale, where I’d probably leave Eve if I had to grind for too much longer and could not get the wallet out.

i agree with the op. this has to stop now, or its just a matter of time until it gets out of hand

Creating SP out of nowhere is frustrating but tolerable. Creating combat advantages from your VISA is flat-out unacceptable and I will not be renewing if this isn’t reversed.

Salami Tactics strike again.

No, it would not be fine. It’s an actual damage/stats boost in general that you get for actual money, not via ingame means like gas boosters. This would never be fine for a sane person.

What now? Of course it would be different. PLEX do not impact stats of ships or modules. This is a whole different thing from PLEX.

Like PLEX, each of the tradable items in the NES has an ISK value determined by the ingame market.

People can buy PLEX for real money and then trade the PLEX on the market for ISK in order to trade their money for another player’s time.

Likewise, someone could buy instead buy extractors or skins, or even a tradable booster from the NES for real money and trade it on the market for ISK in order to trade their money for another player’s time.

It’s the same transaction of one player’s money for another player’s time, where CCP receives the money.

Whether an Item has an ISK value is completely besides the point. The fact that you cannot impact any ship or module stat with RL cash is what is changing with this booster. Whether the item is tradable by players or not is absolutely irrelevant to the damage this item causes to the game.

PLEX are tradable and have ISK value, but they cannot at all change ships or module stats. That makes them wholly useless in battle. Even the most blinged ship after selling PLEX dies to a band of Thrashers.

A Booster that changes the stats of ships and modules for RL cash can be tradable for all the ISK in the cluster, but it is not useless in battle and has a very real impact on combat. That makes the comparison between PLEX and this booster and all the things that will follow this booster’s precedent ridiculously stupid.

What kind of delusional argument is that even?

If CCP were to sell tradable boosters, I would see it as a bad idea, just like selling ships for real money was a bad idea. It undermines the core idea of the game, that of player-made items in a player-ran economy.

But right now CCP isn’t selling tradable boosters, they’re selling combat advantages which are only obtainable by paying CCP, which is much worse.

Pay-to-win mechanics like that turn a game into a battle of wallets, where subscribed players need to pay an additional 69.99 € for the latest pack in order to be competitive in combat. And again, the next time they drop a pack, and again once these combat advantages start stacking.

It’s called ‘nuance’. There is a small difference between selling tradable boosters and selling untradable boosters. Where one is a bad idea, the other is a terrible idea.

They are both terrible. Just because I can sell a ship stats changing booster that I bought for cash and that overpowers my ship for 4 days (with Bio V) without any downsides does not make it just a bad idea. It’s still absolutely terrible.

In fact, let me change that. Being able to sell RL cash purchased OP Gold Ammo boosters on the market would be an even more horrible idea than it not being possible to be sold. If you could sell them and, which is going to come without a doubt, repeatedly buy things like that, it would devalue or destroy ingame activities like booster production in this case. Being able to sell RL cash bought items on the market is an even more terrible idea.

What’s your opinion on PLEX?

It literally is a RL cash bought item on the market.

Anyway, I’m not here to discuss how PLEX is or isn’t pay-to-win. I’m terribly disappointed in CCP that they went the pay-to-win route.

It does not impact ship stats, it cannot be build by ingame activities, it has no impact whatsoever on the game’s items. It can only drive people to do things with the things (like the Casino War) but outside of this it is literally worthless for anything else but money storage. It is not at all comparable to this booster.

Yes, it’s hideous.

Yeah. Not as different as you think. PLEX do not impact ship stats, but skillpoints do. And CCP has been handing them out (and selling them) since log in rewards were a thing.

That’s why I’m pretty meh about this “game breaking disaster”. Been there, done that.
