GPU Driven Pipeline/Carbon Update - Known Issues

I was approaching an MTU yesterday.
As i land on grid the game crashes without error message.
Now i am stuck in that situation.
After restarting the game my ship appears and warp.
But as soon as i land on grid again it crashes again

I trust someone that goes by the name ‘Caffeine’ has a good grasp on what ‘shortly’ means.

Hmm, downloading the new update - hoping for fixes.

EDIT: AMD FSR Upscaling is back!

Thanks CCP.

still not fixed graphics issue…

thanks for doing SFA.

i realise you JDGAF

I’ve been getting the crash-on-undock bug, what a most inopportune time for the client to crash - right when you are naked!

It crashes while I’m still visually inside the station but when I log back in, I’m outside, not even in warp, just idling on station.

Worst possible position to leave me in thanks.

…gonna go ahead and assume that if I lose my ship under those circumstances, CCP will disavow all knowledge of the bug’s existence, refuse to reimburse me and tell me to “HTFU”.

The patch today (3/24/25) for MacOS that fixed the missing FSR option seems to have resolved all performance issues (clients are now all back to 60+ FPS). Temperature is still a bit higher than I’d like but we’ll see how it goes.

Thanks:

@CCP_Caffeine Just a head’s up - I’m seeing some weird graphical anomalies after the patch today (the semi-transparent box in the upper left of the window). It appears as though it’s part of the tactical view - which, incidentally - doesn’t work now. Things I’ve tried to resolve that didn’t have any success:

• Switching cameras (it only disappears when in FPV)
• Docking/undocking
• Logging out and re-logging back in
• Changing the UI scaling
• Changing the graphic settings (all low/off or all high)
• Enabling/disabling asteroid environment and depth of field
• Toggling v-sync on/off
• Adjusting FSR to different settings (quality, performance, balance, etc.)
• Re-sizing each client window (up to 3200x1800)

The shaded area remains fixed in place regardless of whether or not I zoom in or zoom out on my ship.

It will re-size lower/higher if I scroll around but remains in the upper left quadrant of the window. This only appears in-space and not when docked. This has only appeared on two (2) of my smaller windowed clients so far (not the main). Here are the graphic settings for each:

It is very strange that you didn’t notice anything in that timeframe since 2009. On several occasions there was feedback collection from the playerbase and adjustments by CCP.

Most notably this one here:

Really appreciate the feedback, thanks for the update!

The same. And this rectangle changes the size from the lowest to the biggest as you change Upscaling settings from Performance to Ultra Quality.

same i get the same rectangle and its only display a piece of the tactical overlay grid - which only a quarter is displayed - within the “rectangle” as per the above poster Arthur Aihaken

so, why was there only a fix for MAC ? i am experiencing freezes after jumping gates or undocking or warping somewhere etc. on windows too.

i will definitely not subscribe three accounts each month for such an annoying experience.

it makes the game nearly unplayable imo. which sucks, cause it’s actually a pretty cool game.
but this ‘performance update’ really kills it for me

MacOS (only) was missing the FSR settings - this patch addressed that.

ie the tac overlay is not ‘upscaling’. I have it too, and my beards and Loki kill marks are still missing…

I didn’t have it when upscaling turned off, but the minute I activated that I got the same bug.
For me, turning upscaling off fixes it. But that in itself is not a solution.

What do you mean by that? You weren’t able to activate upscaling or change FSR settings before the last patch?

thats right - u could not, u could select upscaling on, then when u go out of the menu, it reverts to off

Correct - the first update last week removed the FSR settings for MacOS. It’s back now with the latest patch - but the tactical camera doesn’t work and glitches onto the orbital camera.

Addendum: An interim ‘fix’ for the tactical map glitch is to press Control-D. This removes the quarter-sized tactical map overlay that can appear in the upper left corner. This does not, however - fix the issue with the tactical map not displaying properly.

Kudos to @Deep_Natsukashii for coming up with the fix!
