GPU Driven Pipeline/Carbon Update - Known Issues

I would love to have it hanging in my living room

you cant afford it.

@CCP_Caffeine Can we please have the option to disable Volumetric Effects Quality beyond auto-disabling it in ā€œpotato modeā€ through the Low Shader setting? I feel this would drastically improve performance on all MacOS systems - especially the older ones.

Since this was deployed last summer I saw a >50% performance hit on my older iMac i7 - to the point where I eventually could only run a single client.

I guess not all Macs had that problem, because I didn’t. I missed that that was even a case. Explains why I’m seeing no performance improvement. But my performance hadn’t taken much of a hit, except for some overheating.

They all had it - it was just called something else under the previous client. It was basically a performance vs. quality setting for older chipsets.

The issue was they introduced volumetrics with Equinox, and this basically started chewing up processor time unless you changed your shader setting to low (which disabled it). There were subsequent updates over the next 6 months which further exacerbated this (all ā€œbehind-the-scenesā€; nothing explicitly mentioned in the patch notes).

I concur. I’ve been having the same issue since some time last summer.

It was called AMD FSR or something like that. Under upscaling drop-down menu.

That sounds about right.

Well, that wasn’t disabled for me from the patch last week.

But what you say about the volumetric effects and its subsequent updates makes a lot of sense to me, because i’ve been seeing a degradation in performance ever since last spring or summer and I couldn’t explain what was causing it.

my client closes when I dock Jita 4-4, this happens after docking is confirmed and I am listening the docking sound, then the screen goes black the client closes. When I log back sometimes I am on space, sometimes I am docked. This doesn’t happen in other player stations.

This happens when docking fortizars also.

I don’t know why you all are mentioning volumetric effects. In my case disabling anti-aliasing is the option that helped me to increase FPS. On the other hand, volumetric effects doesn’t affect FPS at all. I might be testing in the wrong place though.

after todays patch all my performance issues are gone. I see people still having problems, hopefully those will be resolved shortly.
When you doing good CCP, you doing good.

But the graphics glitches are still there. All those billboards effing up the screen and the map is still retarded (on low shader, true). None of those problems have been fixed.

The new update allows for AA to be enabled on low shaders, this woks fine and improves the quality, but the setting does not stick through a client restart. The other settings work fine and are remembered.

aha i see. yeah after reading here, i turned off the upscaling and now it works fine so far

I have the same problem with an integrated graphics UHD 620, cpu intel i7-8550U, every time I dock/undock of jump through a gate… Playing in DirectX 11 at low settings, or in potato mode… :V

It seems that today it’s working better than last week… I think that today’s updated fixed the problem

I don’t know why, but in high sec I didn’t have lag, but when I open my characters that live in Null Sec, the lag after docking, undocking and jumping gates came back… :V

After the update, my eve game in 7 windows is only ctrl+shift_f9.
Unfortunately I can’t play any other way

Possible fix for Linux users. Works on my debian 12 with wine. Not sure how to applicate to other methods of running Eve on Linux:
