GPU Driven Pipeline/Carbon Update - Known Issues

I am experiencing extreme CPU load when docking, otherwise no discernible difference. I use “view outside” if that helps.

Everything seems to work fine for me, except that my cloaked ship is sometimes completely invisible. I haven’t found the trigger for it - it seems to happen randomly when entering a new system.

Playing on linux through Proton 9.0-4, on a RX 7800 XT with Mesa 24.3.4, from inside the Steam flatpak.

I have the same issue

FPS is up overall, around 60 fps on main account, 40fps on 3 alt accounts. That’s docked in fort fps. Unsure why the first account I login seems to have so much higher fps as it also runs at a higher res (1440p vs 1080p).

However, FSR doesn’t seem to work. I can see it change the quality of the graphics based on the FSR quality setting, but my fps literally doesn’t move at all.

i5 7600k @ 5ghz
6700xt 12gb
Windows 10
1440p (main account)
1080p (alt accounts)

Latest AMD drivers installed. Switched from dx11 to dx12 as part of this update. 3 monitor setup (1x 1440p, 2x 1080p).

I have bloom / volumetric / shadows set to disabled / low (like a crisp image rather than blurry). Other than that, everything else is on high settings.

Very pleased overall though, thanks CCP!! Just flagging up the possible FSR issue.

GPUs handling more of the workload is the new paradigm shift. I know it sucks, but it is what it is.

Linux user here.

DX12 mode crashes after character selection.

DX11 Works however:

I run three clients, before the patch my system was virtually idle while playing.

Since the patch running three clients is maxing out 18 CPU threads 100% and each instance is consuming 10GB of memory

So much for moving the workload to GPU.

Guess the OSX Upscaling fix didn’t make it into today’s patch… Same (lacklustre) performance as yesterday.

I have an Intel 10600K and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card and I am experiencing the same issue. I did have pretty old drivers yesterday when I submitted a payload with my ticket, but I have uploaded to the latest drivers as of yesterday, and this has not solved the issue. Playing on DirectX 11 is not a satisfactory playing experience, although it is technically sort of functional.

Edit to add - I have added an updated payload with the new drivers to my ticket, in case it is useful.

when playing with six accounts my FPS ranges from 0.5 to 45 dps depending on how many clients are minimized by EVE-O Preview. It is true that is saving my CPU a bit and overall EVE got smoother, however the GPU is getting choked to death. If only one EVE client is active and all other clients are mimized then EVE is way cooler, it is so much better now.

Not sure if is related to the patch but when I start the clients they use up to 3GB ram per client LMAO why, wow. After 30 minutes it goes down to 1.1GB up to 1.5GB which is fine.

So gotta open my clients and go for a walk and then come back when the game is playable.

Overall EVE is much smoother now, great job!

I altered nothing after the patch as everything worked fine, apart from the brightness which looked washed out and brighter, almost like the contrast had changed.

It still looks different after turning the brightness down.

consumes a lot of RAM, especially when start client, loading, dock/undock, jumping, Jita hub loading and citadels. On machines where everything used to work with little RAM, now it doesn’t work, now need 2-3 times more memory! When the client eats up all the memory, then it frees it, but then starts eating again

Dx12 84% Gpu 8.6gb Vram

Same setup on a 3070 ti
Dx11 choppy
Dx12 hard freezes

sounds like a memory leak or render device reset

Schnarph This is what I’m experiencing, too, on an M1 Max. It’s around stations as well, but mostly within view of the billboards at specific angles. When warping to a station I pass through some “field” where I pass through a flash of one of those colors, presumably a big rect.

in the past it was fine, but now if for some reason my cpu goes to 100% then it is because one client froze, then i get a black screen, after some seconds the screen goes back to normal and the positions of the UI elements are all displaced. So when the screen goes back to normal the UI is messed up lol

Anyway, I never had black screens before, game freezes and come back having the UI elements scrambled around

Hello i have a old office PC.
Until yesterday everything worked perfectly running at low graphics but since yesterday the game crashes, distorted pixels every time I try to dock in Null sec, in HS all work perfect no problems.
For me the game has become unplayable in null sec, I would like to know if there is a solution since I have plexed 2 accounts for 3 months less than a week ago :frowning:

I play with all low graphics, window mode, 1 account same time.

Thanks

Game runs better now

With the last update everything is fine now. Thank you!

nope, still horrible performance issues. much worse than it used to be before the patch.

How sick i am of these CCP “improvements”
do you even have a QA team?

I see GPU utilization reduced compared to before the patch. It seem to become a pattern, the results a complete opposite of what CCP declaring.
True about performance as well as game play.

I can’t even get the launcher to show up in Steam, either with proton experimental or hotfix.
openSUSE Tumbleweed, AMD hardware.
Others on Proton DB have stated that DX12 prevents the game from launcher, though I haven’t figured out how to force DX11, as the launcher itself is not showing up anymore.
