Heralding the Announcement of a "No Limits" Friendship

That doesn’t really answer the point, as it is not the timers themselves but the fact that the owner of the defending station gets to decide the time of day the reinforcement ends that prevents him being up 24/7.

I just want to highlight one thing Kane touched upon.

The location of the war HQ. Often the location of the war hq will tell you a lot about the intention of the aggressive party.

If the war HQ is hidden in the ass-end of space in a high-sec pocket. The aggressors rarely are looking for a fight.

What’s the monthly rate? Both from the perspective of a defender from a war, and the perspective of an attacker needing manpower to protect their HQ from a counterattack.

That’s what I mean by “form-up,” as in a separate defense for every timer. What’s the rate for that? Once again let’s assume both the location and the timer are convenient for you, as a baseline.

I think this is a matter of perspective. Null-sec doesn’t show up to bash your structures because they know there will be a 100-man high-end battleship fleet waiting for them, with the ability to escalate if necessary.

For me, they showed up. They brought a 40-man gang for the first timer (I reverse-calculated it based on the ship types and the time it took them to take down the shield, so it’s an estimate, but not a bad estimate). For the second timer, in the dead of night at 08:00 EVE time, they brought a 55-man Kikimora gang with neutral bumpers and looters. This was for an unfitted, unmanned Raitaru war HQ belonging to a tiny alliance with basically a single active member. As mentioned earlier, they brought a 100-man BC gang to take down Bully Brigade’s HQ as well (I don’t believe it was defended either).

I’m not complaining; I knew this would likely happen, and I’m going to do it again, and keep doing it. Just saying that it did happen. I think, as with most similar relevant considerations, people are only going to show up if they know they’re going to win.

As a humorous tangent, I want to mention that they actually lost two Kikimoras to CONCORD during the siege. That about sums up the skill level of the average null-sec drone.

All I did was right-click and “leave alliance.” I don’t believe that this is an issue. I’ve checked the rules, and can’t find anything with regard to not being able to join/leave alliances at will. What you’re referencing dealt with a different mechanic. And I wasn’t involved with that, and only had second-hand information on what went down. The GMs displayed their corruption to full effect. They refused to quote any rules or reference any exploit lists, and pretty much just said “do this or we’ll ban your entire alliance” and made it not up for discussion.

That was GM IceCream, by the way. The one who’s no longer working for CCP. The one who teleported his titan away when it was in danger. The one who used unofficial communication channels to harass high-sec gankers with personal questions, and then banned them from the game based on the answers.

Personally, I’m planning on looking for places that are as inconvenient as possible for the attackers to form up and take it down. They’ll still come, but they’ll have to waste tens if not hundreds of man-hours doing so. If every member of the fleet would’ve been grinding ISK instead (even with low-end activities like generic ratting), I’d be winning the ISK war.

I’d love a fight, but there’s nothing I can do to put up any sort of viable resistance against a gang with 50+ players in it.

I think you greatly over-estimate the time it takes to move a fleet around eve given the current mechanics.

Nah, I use Pochven and wormholes for quicker travel all the time for example. But it’s still an additional hassle regardless of the method. Adding even a little bit of an annoyance is a win, no matter how small.

Even Kane mentioned not being willing to travel for contracts all the time.

You already did

Oh I dunno, some good solo pvp’ers like taking on blobs and scoring a few kills, before disappearing into the sunset.

Haha like you said even a 50 man fleet can be dangerous even if they are just F1 monkeys. Once I’m fit and well and back on eve i’ll start up my Alpha fleet plans again 6 members so far.

I’m starting to see lots of content for us

Getting Concorded despite dozens of requests in fleet chat to set status to green…seems to be a rite of passage for some.

Speaking from personal experience?

Nope, never done that. But seen plenty who have.

Never been concorded myself but my alt has

She does it in the most honourable way possible and has stopped many ganks on her own.
