Back on topic. Ganking is to easy because the targets are to easy to pass up. Without anywhere else for the small corps/independently minded players to go, we have ganking. Griefing was free of any kind of response. Yet, to me anyway, there was far less of it. Yes, I did my share but it didn’t last long as there was no challenge. Ganking for profit is a different matter. I just don’t want to make that kinda effort on new players.
And the saddest part is no new player will ever experience the chill that runs up your spine when someone in your corp says “Goons are coming” for the 1st time. (And not for horses) But you can only be a virgin once!
Indeed, your ship has to actually survive the gate guns long enough for Concord to arrive. Early on I tried ganking a ship at gate guns…and was destroyed by the guns and Concord never showed up.
LOL. You’ve obviously never sat outside Jita for any length of time…as us suspect hunters do. There’s an endless stream of ships arriving and departing, and a large number are freighters.
This is a typical Jita Suicide Ganker not picking on anyone here in particular.
They lost 114 Million ISK ship to CONCORD and YangSham Po capped it off with a Loki.
This was the target Jon Ogden was after.
Total value 701 Million ISK and it dropped 558 Million and look at all those BPOs in there. The only thing that would really get Jon mad at this point, would be some one destroying the wreck before a friend or his alt could loot it.
Do the math people 558 - 114 = 444 M profits. Knowing what the high sec ganker run and taking smaller trips is going to make them decide you are not worth the cost of their ship. Personally I would have docked and flown some of the big ticket BPOs in a shuttle across the gate. Zippy little shuttles often don’t get ganked, let alone target locked. Cargo space is small and it works swell for carrying many BPOs. Then if they gank a 3 Million ISK hauler with junk aboard you have a good laugh at their expense.
EVE System > Channel changed to Local : Muvolailen
Willi deVille > /emote yawns
Freighter Haul > Do you really want to run your mouth again?
Freighter Haul > I have no problem killing empties
Willi deVille > /emote falls to his knees crying miserably “Please Mister mighty ganker . . spare me.”
Freighter Haul > Nice profits this month
High Sec ganking costs nothing. The entire ganking subculture knows it and enjoys it very much.
Why do you all fly faction hauler and freighters and then complain about getting your ships destroyed and your cargo stolen? That’s like walking down a scary alley by yourself at night with no protection and complaining about getting mugged.
Faction freighters and haulers are the absolute worst ships to haul in. Anyone who loads those up and undocks deserves everything they get. You do so with a giant “kick me” sign on your back. There are way better ships out there for that stuff.
I did enjoy reading this thread though! It was very entertaining! The only reason to fly a faction freighter is because you hate fitting ships so you buy that because it has no slots for mods. In that case, you’re lazy.
Open the ship tree library, find a real freighter, learn how to fit it, and give it a huge shield tank. Stop whining about being prey and become something more.
This game is not complicated. The knowledge is out there.
If high security space is too dangerous for you, then I suggest that you continue training until you are ready to face the realm of true mortal danger, where your every sense will be tested and only the strongest can survive.
It is so dangerous that not even CCP will help you. They won’t even bring out a patch that benefits your alliance in here. I have killed millions of freighters with a single catalyst, and they didn’t stop me. It’s ridiculous. Frankly, it’s an outrage, you are absolutely right. I am swimming in ISK from all the freighters that I blow apart with my single catalyst, it costs me nothing.
I am earning so much ISK that I am funding Omega on all 200 of my accounts solely through ganking the freighters using unfair mechanics with my single catalyst. I use these accounts to create the illusion that this forum is frequented by anyone else but me, and the only purpose is to gaslight you into thinking that your opinion and conclusion is absolutely bonkers and has no basis on reality.
Maybe even make you think that you’re a CIA agent because your take is so horrendeously bad and without a shred of merit that the only way I would accept that you are a real human being is if you were purposefully doing that to serve a terrible agenda that reaches far beyond the scope of what this forum is supposed to be.
It is my entertainment to see you fall into my own trap instead, and to drive you into insanity by making you argue with all 200 of my seperate personalities, every single one doing so in utter and complete bad faith and making you question your conception of reality.
This has been debunked several times already and the killboard has plenty of dead tanked freighters with their dead tanked pods. As far as I can tell, there isn’t any single method that will keep you safe - you need to use all the tools available and even then a dedicated ganker will still kill you if they set their mind to it. They’ve already bragged about it in this very forum…
There is no such thing as ‘safe’ in EVE, unless you are docked up. There is no 0 risk while undocked.
There however are many strategies to be ‘safer’ strategies that reduce the risk, for example by tanking you freighter, reducing the value of your cargo, using tools to check ganks on the route, etc.
When people tell you to learn how to fit a ship to keep you safe it is not in order to reduce the risk all the way to 0, but to simply reduce the risk.
As an analogy outside of EVE, it is as if someone tells you to watch the street both ways when you want to cross it on foot, as this is considered to be ‘safe’. You then appear to want to counter it by saying ‘this has been debunked, last year someone died who did look both ways, so instead I will cross the road blindfolded’. This of course is silly.
For one, most of those blueprints are copies. Worth very little. And aside from Standup Cyclops I BPO (which happened to drop), the BPOs in that cargo are worthless.
He sits directly in line with the main Jita exit…so the traversal is minimal. As there’s two other exits its pot luck that they don’t exit via one of those. He has to quickly scan the cargo and decide if the kill is worth it….as no-one wants to lose 130m worth of Tornado for nothing. With an alpha shot of 10K or more, that Iteron was an easy one shot kill.
I never cease to be amazed that people are leaving Jita carrying millions of ISK of stuff, in ships with wafer thin tank. That Iteron not only had expanded cargo holds that weaken structure, but absolutely no added tank…in fact slots empty. Utterly absurd for carrying expensive blueprints. You can fit a Sunesis for under 2 second align…and have 17K EHP so it can’t be one shotted…and set up an insta undock bookmark. I call my Sunesis ‘Road Runner’ for precisely that purpose.
Meh….I’ve been flying expensive stuff around for 4 years without being ganked. I learned all sorts of tactics…especially scouting, being unpredictable, and a ‘relay’ method. Nobody’s gonna gank you if they don’t know you are coming. Whereas if they know you are coming 20 systems in advance, and you don’t scout, and you just blithely carry on at a predictable speed…then its a turkey shoot for the gankers.
Be unpredictable. I sometimes leave stuff at Sivala or an earlier station for hours or even days…waiting for the right moment. Having multiple accounts helps, as I can just do something else while I wait. I’ll often slip through Uedama when there’s hardly anyone there, and then park up in Ikao and wait. Sometimes ‘relay’ cargo to another alt. And so on.
It is not so easy. ´There are loot thieves trying to steal yours/his loot. He also has no time to scan fit, so it is a gamble and thus not every Iteron or Tayra with 700mil is a kill. He sometimes double gamble BRs if he won’t find anything for a hour or more. Then you not only gamble the kill but also their loot.
All in all, without stupid players carrying 20+ injectors or extractors here and there, it is barely profitable. But since those players exists, if you are lucky enough to be there when they try to dock to Jita and they got unlucky to land too far from docking range and they also don’t have sufficient tank, and you are fast enough to loot it before any of the loot thief beats you, then, only then you can make a good profit.
Consider that the Gankers may number 10, or even 20 people. They can “Pull” vastly more concord groups away from a gate than any freighter pilot could “pull” back.
For each group of 3 police that are pulled to a gate, it takes one character, so to “Pull” a good portion of the police that were pulled off the gate, you’d need just as many characters yourself doing it, as the gankers used. Just having the mechanic available for both doesn’t mean squat.
I thought ganking was so easy and an effortless undertaking. How come people can discuss basic and advanced mechanics for 118 posts already. This alone shows that the premise of @Aely_Andedare is wrong.
