High Sec Orca AFK problem solved?

Like a Rorqual?

The Rorq comes with it’s own set of problems, unique to it because it can’t be used in high sec. Problems of mobility, for one.

I also agree with that. To me the orca is good. It just can be fit, which is already something.

Indeed, the barges and exhumer besides proc/skiff are just plainly bad.
They are meant to be bad, to explode when their pilot sneezes.

You are not.
The yield of an orca(20 m/s) is much lower than a hulk(38 m/s without implant, without boost).

BS again. It is.

I think we are making progress.

Hmm, that’s odd. It doesn’t appear anywhere on the list of mining barges and exhumers, and it can’t fit mining lasers either. An Orca is a mining ship in the same way that a Rokh is a mining ship. Sure, a Rokh can fit 8 mining lasers and a flight of mining drones, but it isn’t a mining ship either…

It is probably the second most common way miners get ore from asteroids in highsec.

Nobody ■■■■■■■ cares, you just show your stupidity here. That’s complete retard children school level.

An orca IS a mining ship, was designed as such, it has ■■■■■■■ bonus to mining that were added in its last balance.
If you’re too stupid to understand that, no wonder you just keep claiming BS about how people who don’t insult you in local are AFK

An Orca has a mining bonus to it’s own drones only. The only mining boosts it provides is to OTHER mining ships…

Are you competing with yourself to make the most stupid post ? You’re about to win !

Again : your post just does not make any sense.
It just does not.
You claim that having a bonus to mining drones is not enough to make a ship a mining one. Then Just having a bonus to mining laser does not either.

So far, 100% of your post on the topic that contain a point are 100% stupid.

The entire point of the Orca since it’s creation was for fleet mining, not for some solo lazy ass AFK’er to just sit there with his 5 little drones taking all day to mine out a single belt while he’s off watching re-runs of the Golden Girls on Netflix…

The key here is : WAS.
The orca was redesigned as a boosting, mining and logistic ship.

I teach you because seems you’ve not played eve since then.

cry more noob.

Still is. That’s why it still has command boosts and a fleet bay. At what point did the Orca stop being a fleet mining support ship?

Anyway, I’m going to return to bumping AFK Orcas out of their belt/anom so they can come back 2 hours later to find that they haven’t mined a single piece of ore/ice…

They might never notice.

No, it’s not.
Now it is a mining ship. Before, it was not.

Just completely stupid and unrelated.

unrelated.

I run an orca fleet every night and I don’t even CARRY mining drones on it. They don’t appear to benefit from the boosts I provide. They don’t mine very well. And if I’m going to be afk for any longer than it takes to pinch off a loaf, I don’t want mining drones out, I want combat drones out.

My loadout for drones is a full set of medium explosive drones, a backup set of medium explosive drones, a full set of armor repair drones, and a full set of shield repair drones.

I’ve seen AFK orcas out there with mining drones and the absolute best way of screwing with them is to put my mining fleet on their asteroids and suck them dry before they can.

Nerfing Orcas themselves is a shortsighted solution. They’re incredibly expensive ships and doing so would seriously damage the economy of the game if it leaves them undefendable for non-AFK fleets.

I can see that it might be necessary to “reload” mining drones - refuel them or something - and require that they dock and relaunch every five or ten cycles. Assuming that is a quick click and can’t be automated and the fuel itself is trivial to purchase, it shouldn’t mess with legitimate mining operations and it would shut down the worst of the afk orca/drone operations.

Well, I’ve heard people assert that the rorqual buffs a few years back is what led to capital proliferation, and the current state of the meta (capitals being oppressive). The thinking is that capitals being oppressive isn’t a bad thing when they’re rare and hard to replace, but when the inverse is true, then it’s a problem. Now, I don’t know enough about empire building to say whether this is true or not, but it I do find it a compelling argument.

Also, orcs and rorqs have the ability to (1) mine and (2) provide boosts for miners. Dude was complaining about ability one, and not the fact that people use the orca to mine. I thought what he was saying was rather clear.

I’m sure titans would cost more if rorquals weren’t in the game, hoovering up the minerals required to make the big ships. Seems like CCP is working to solve that mineral issue.

To me, mining in general is a crappy activity that I think should be made more active. Of course, I can see why a low effort activity appeals to so many (you can earn while socializing or watching TV), but I think this is a problem when game systems (such as the career agents and resource wars) help funnel newbros into mining ships. This results in a lot of new players doing what many consider to be the worst activity in the game (and I point to mining barge being the most extracted skill as evidence of that fact).

I haven’t done very much mining over the past few years, so I can’t say how career miners would react, but I’m of the opinion that mining, and the game as whole, would be made better by making mining more active (i.e. having to scan down rocks [in real life, asteroids are really spread out], perform surveys, and other mechanics that draw inspiration from real life mining or theories on how asteroid mining might work).

Seems like you are the owner of most of these afk/botting Orcas in highsec judging your comments.
