High Sec PvP Arena's

I think a lot of Rookie pilots would rather enjoy the oppurtunity to create their own PvP fights, in a safe environment, free from getting ganked.

Each of the major trade hubs would have three to five such arenas to host their fights in, free of the gankers ruining the fight.

With more PvP fights taking place in Trade Hub Arenas, more players might purchase ships to join free-for-alls inside the mega arena that would host up to 50 ships of all sizes.

50 ships fighting at onceā€¦in a trade hub. The lag is already ungodly enough as it isā€¦

That Word

Not too sure about using trade hubs as a central point though.

Do we need even more players hanging around on the undock spoiling for a fight?

To be fair, itā€™s a very reasonable idea for those wanting to prove themselves worthy

only because i read THIS and nothing else shows me this idea is not a great idea ā€¦
CCP tried to implement arenas and they failed ā€¦

btw ā€¦ if you want an arena then you have an arena in every SOV nullsec  called ESS !

Dryson frequently proposes innovations the purposes of which flatly repudiate what any other long-term player of EVE has managed - after due consideration - to assimilate and reject.

Make of that what you will.

The arenaā€™s would be protected by anti-ganking bans. If a player ganks another player within the 1,000km arena perimeter, the player gets banned for life.

The reason why the arenas would be in a trade hub system is to boost the economy of the system by making ships readily available when needing to be replaced.

Thereā€™s probably a different (better) way to implement arenas. This isnā€™t itā€¦

There is.

Restart Fight Club.

Why do you need a coded solution to a non-problem to organize something?

Having High Sec arenas would also give CCP the oppurtunity to set up system specific PvP events that would cost Evermarks to enter, which in turn would promote more Faction War activity to earn Evermarks, which in turn would generate even more PvP in Low Sec.

And how is this a serious suggestion?

If "ban gankers for life if they interfere with my suggested gameplay!" is part of your suggestion, I cannot take it seriously.

I think heā€™s trying to equate it with the provisions which make illegal the trouncing of new players in the currently protected areas.

It isnā€™t we who need to be persuaded, but CCP.

He should note, though, that the plural of ā€˜Arenaā€™ is, simply, ā€˜Arenasā€™. That would be a start.

Letā€™s go all out and make it open to all classes of ships. I want to see some Porpoise on Porpoise violenceā€¦

LowSec once was a huge PvP Arena for solo, small- and medscale groups until it became HotdropLandā„¢. Drastically nerf cynotravel in LowSec back to itā€™s original timings (aka ~60seconds for reinforcements to arrive through a cyno) so a single Recon/T3 canā€™t end any activity it can find by just ā€œcalling in the fleetā€ in an instant. You will see people doing the things there that they have done years ago: forming small gangs, doing small roams or camps, brawling it out with other gangs of similar size if they look fightable. All that was there, a decade ago. And it died when you had to assume that any new char in local could be that new snuff-alt that throws a 50 ships on top of you within 5 seconds if you are stupid enough to engage anyone.

So, no, we donā€™t need ā€œinstancedā€ or ā€œprotectedā€ highsec arena gameplay with special rules. Lowsec can be that playground for solo, small- and medscale PvP again. The fix is simple.

I think the next part of the idea would really be liked by Null Sec alliances.

The Collesium would have five arenas arranged like the five dots on a die. Each arena would be different sized, the smallest being able to support five battleships with the largest arena being able field up to 20 bs in diameter and volume. Thatā€™ll loop em.

The Capsulleer would then engage in combat. At any random time, the boosh would happen. At most 3 different booshes in a 15 minute period, a boosh could happen within the first 10 minutes and back to back booshes at 11 and 12. Or the booshes could be at the end of the match.

When a boost happens, ships are transported to a random arena to fight other players that I think would increase the entertainment value.

You have granted your idea some wings, Dryson.

I donā€™t want to clip them, but it is frustrating when the only folks discussing far-reaching proposals like this are confined to a catch-all sub-forum whose original intent (I read the blurb) was to consider UI suggestions, because it was that team which monitored the threads.

The only way I can think of to get proper feedback on all the varied suggestions you have made is that:

You should stand for election when the next CSM hustings are announced. You should seek to represent Highsec and list in your ā€˜statementā€™ the many pet projects you have curated over the years.

If elected, you will have the ear of CCP and you can say, without demur, that you have the support of Highsec dwellers (well, those who bothered to voteā€¦).

I think you should seriously consider it, Dryson.

You mention ā€˜booshā€™, but I do not understand the the context.

Are you not talking about the use of micro jump field generators that take long other nearby ships, commonly known as ā€˜booshā€™ in EVE jargon?

You are the one who has the oratory voice, Sasha. I do not want to be involved in CSM political affairs, just ideas for those who want to represent.

More like jump filament mechanics using jump filaments. Maybe there could also be bonus arenas that would pit the PvPer against Burner and Elite Officer Clone Commanders, Triglavian, Sleeper or Drifter NPC units.
