High-Sec war decs

as wardecks and the surrounding mechanics have changed since that time its not a

i wouldnt really expect you would understand

So.. youve missed the balance passes then??

Honestly not sure you guys can fully comprehend exactly what s being talked about here, you seem to come from an entirely biased stance based only on your own thoughts, wants and needs; but you are not the player base. If ccp have designed the game around the concepts you seem to think they have i would recommend they take that one step in order to truly create that vision which you seem to think it is they have and simply..

Remove sec status from the game.

Im more than ok with that, in fact it would suit me perfectly.

The precise mechanics have changed. The design intent to have a biased system that favors predators over prey has not.

Those wardeck groups are so far from predators its mind boggling, also if that was the case they wouldnt have removed watchlist and there would be no sec status of systems…

This was the game designers intent when they “fixed” wardecs back in 2012, and the mechanic haven’t changed since.

Apart from fixing these, and some basic usability issues, we also took a long hard look at the underlying concept for the war dec system; asking ourselves such questions as: who is it for? Is it for large alliances wanting to extent their nullsec wars to empire space? Is it for hi sec entities for settling their differences? Is it to make it easier for people attacking other people that don’t want to fight? Should it be a career path for corporations or even alliances? All or none of the above?

Out of these speculations we came up with a few guidelines, which can be summarized as follows:

Tighten the war system, so it becomes clear how wars start, proceed and end.
Make war progression (i.e. how everyone’s faring) more visible, both for strategic and status reasons.
Make fighting wars a viable career path for dedicated mercenary corps.

and

But the line that is being drawn in the sand here is that if you’re in a player run corporation, then war is something you must be prepared to tackle. The ally system and the surrender with enforced peace do give options beside just duking it out (or docking for a week), but if you absolutely do not want to be war decced, then the only option right now is to be in a NPC corp.

“what it’s supposed to do (allow people to fight legally in hi sec). But things were not absolutely peachy.”

“It is our hope that the changes outlined here will serve to make wars a more engaging, fulfilling and fun experience for all.”

“but if you absolutely do not want to be war decced, then the only option right now is to be in a NPC corp. This is not an optimal solution and we might iterate here in the future”

should i continue?

They also said “This is not an optimal solution and we might iterate here in the future, but this is the direction we’re taking right now.” and left it be… for 6 years, no iterations even if it have turn out how it is at this very moment.

but… wardecks are from from perfect, like killrights… and bounties before that…

Currently highsec merc is far FAR away from being an actual career path, if it wasnt, id actually do it…
Most decs dont even see combat, ‘mercs’ pass that off as “aahh but we stopped you coming to highsec”

no, no you didnt… >.<

To be very honest i havent had a good wardeck probably since 2012. Even the lowsec ‘pirate’ corp i decked complained about what i was doing and refused to fight me often despite generally outnumbering me.

I think thats one of the issues with current merc groups, they wont engage 9 times out of 10 if the fight looks as though its not 99% in their favour, all many do is sit in uedama/jita/niar… etc; its very very stale.

Decks, like many things are just being used in the wrong way and its this that needs some control measures placed;
eg
20 man corp with total of 1.2 billion sp should probably not be allowed to deck a 50 player corp with only 30mil total sp - it is a HUGE difference.

some one was taking about corp accounatbility in one thread; easy, add a player rating system = 2 items, ratings from members that joined, ratings from customers (youd need a contract merc system aka a solid career path)…

i think thats pretty much it tbvh

Except neutral logi might still be a slight issue but without barring it completely im completely lost as to how you could even attempt to fix this well not 100% but it is an awkward one.
What ccp said…
“Q: Neutral parties in a fight?
A: This is part of crime watch and not handled specifically by the war system. RRing someone in a legal war fight in hi sec adds a Suspect flag. This won’t solve RRing as such, so maybe something more needs to be done, but this is what we’re planning for Inferno.”

I was a highsec merc before and after the changes, and its clear your views on the profession is clouded by the stereotypical views people have because of blanket decs.
This is how I think wardecs should be “fixed”

i am sorry lol

“Allies
Repping an alli that has joined the same war as you should not give you a suspect flag. Not gonna write much about this… it’s a logical flaw in the mechanics that ccp intentionally did”

Thats funny, not gonna lie it did make me laugh :stuck_out_tongue:
Everytime i read that line the stupidity of getting flagged for repping an ally just makes me laugh :joy:

"If the defending party is winning the “isk war” the attacker is not able to extend an ongoing war "
Would that include the attacker simply not getting any kills?

Pretty good ‘fix’ all in all i’d say though id still like to see a contract system so i could pick them up myself rather than having to actively post on forums all the time, id take a contract for 50mil that paid me for killing targets, maybe even more.
Id actually be interested in being paid to take down fob’s if i had the guys too especially if when getting paid i had an option to split or take all (with a corp tax of course)

Good question!
Tbh, I dont wanna make so the best way to “win” is to stay docked, so no. It defeats the point of the win condition.

Yeah, ccp tried to make a mercenary marketplace and ended up with the ally system (list of wars asking for assists) and it basicly only used for scamming desperate bears or getting free wars for wardeccers. FYI There is a channel ingame with all the “official” mercs listed where you can contact reps.

I’m sure there might be a market for that, I’m personally not interested in playing with npc’s. Even if they emulate players. I want to interact with real players.

some dude was offering 600mil for fob takedown, think you can do it in 15/20 minutes with 6 pilots; not a bad payout.

You can also get good isk ratting in 0.0 aswell, but I could not make me do it more than a couple of sites before I was bored out of my mind and stopped playing (I went to Fountain and played around after closing shop)
But everyone is different, and as I said there might be market for it for those who are willing. Go for it.

45mil tic in a thanny

Why not? This is EVE, you don’t get to whine about how you can’t win so the game mechanics need to protect you. A 50-man corp is not a newbie just out of the tutorial that needs protection to learn how the game works, it’s a significant accomplishment that only happens later in a player’s career. Either fight back and win, or accept that your corp has failed and is unable to handle the challenges of EVE. Forcing parity between sides in a war is utter lunacy.

you really dont get what an mmo is about do you…

also this

which ccp itself pretty much states the same issues, says they are gonna work on it, then dont.
In effect no one moaning about wardecks, we are simply confirming ccp concerns and asking them to implement the much needed changes whilst actually attempting to give them some ideas of how to change it.
Now if you please, stop your whining and let the adults talk.

Unlike you I get what EVE is about. EVE is not a generic carebear MMO like WoW.

its a social game, being in an npc corp or staying docked arent really the most social things to do…
