High Security Space Toxicity concerning MTU's

And personally I think removal of sources of interaction and removal of threats and competition from the game is a net negative to the game.

It seems we disagree.

For someone so capable of dealing with MTU hunters on their own I’m surprised you are asking for removal of that playstyle.

and the ones you would hurt is more than those that it would help.

How so, do you believe there are more griefers/gankers in the game than there are other players enjoying PvE content for example?

its not griefing as you call it..

than please provide Eve Online’s definition of griefing

Shooting a Mobile Tractor Unit (MTU) in EVE Online is not considered griefing according to the game’s mechanics and general community consensus; it is a legal, intended part of the gameplay. The action is designed to generate conflict between players

Griefing in EVE’s rules is only known under ‘Rookie Griefing’ as far as I know: https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/203209712-Rookie-Griefing

Harassment in EVE’s rules only describes chat: https://support.eveonline.com/hc/en-us/articles/203209732-Harassment-and-offensive-behavior

After all, shooting a ship in a spaceship-shooting game is considered gameplay, not harassment. And in case of mobile tractor units you’re not even shooting someone’s ship, only their litter.

that is refuted by the current state of the game already as shooting an MTU is not legal currently, it results in a suspect offense. And again the point of this proposal is to promote change, change that already occured with the bumping meta which I also believe was intentional griefing and/or harassment

So because a definitive definition cannot be found and the general definition of griefing absolutely applies to this topic is your argument that I just shouldn’t have had the right to make this proposal based on principal or what is your argument

‘Suspect’ status is a gameplay mechanism that allows you to legally shoot whoever is shooting your MTU. High sec has strict rules of engagement, but it would be unfair if you couldn’t legally shoot whoever is shooting your MTU.

Hence, shooting a MTU gives suspect status.

It doesn’t mean that whoever is shooting your MTU is ‘griefing’.

again, respectfully, I disagree. For you to say that you and only you have agency over the term griefing and because you say it isn’t griefing or couldn’t be defined as griefing in the present or future is bewildering to me

It’s more that calling it griefing is begging the question. You’re asserting, as a given fact, something that isn’t even a consensus opinion in any way, skipping right on ahead to “solving” the problem that others don’t agree is a problem in the first place.

accept that I am proposing it in the correct way at the CSM assembly hall in hopes that CSM and/or CCP will view it and provide an agreeance or disagreeance. But coming into the thread just to argue and tell me i’m wrong or that I don’t know anything or haven’t done any research isn’t a productive dialogue. Either you agree, disagree, or have an alternative solution

‘Griefing’ is an emotionally loaded word with little meaning within EVE.

Generally it’s only used by high sec players who see themselves as a permanent victim of ‘griefers’, unable to deal with the many tools they’re given. This is why I’m surprised to see you use it, as you seem capable of using those tools.

I usually think it’s best to avoid the term: it is meaningless when you describe game mechanics.

The only mechanical meaning ‘griefing’ has within EVE context is that of ‘Rookie griefing’, which are strict rules to protect new players in certain systems.

CCP Games does not classify shooting an MTU (Mobile Tractor Unit) as griefing in EVE Online; it’s considered a suspect-level PvP activity that lets others attack you safely (yellow skull), but it doesn’t incur Concord penalties or lose you faction standing (unless the owner is an NPC corp) and isn’t universally seen as griefing by players, though it disrupts mining. Griefing involves deliberately ruining the game for others,

CCP specifically defines griefing in certain contexts (like rookie missions) as destroying mission items or stealing, but shooting an MTU falls into a grey area of intended PvP disruption, not outright “griefing” under their rules

so now you’re resorting to disassociative insults, I am not a “permanent victim” simply for having an opinion and voicing it in the appropriate forum

interesting, almost as if grey areas are highly controversial areas that can be viewed by many different opinions, which only supports my right to voice my opinion on how it can be changed.

so would you like a CSM or several CSM or maybe even former CSM come here to tell you, that you are incorrect on calling shooting a MTU “griefing” and its intended gameplay??

Sure why don’t you go ahead and skip the process that is very clearly lined out in the instructions for the Assembly forum and arrange that for me. I voiced my opinion on the matter and how I think it can be improved. If you disagree do so and move on.

You are grossly misconceptualizing the entire point of this thread and the forum it is under, this isn’t a debate on what is or isn’t currently in the game, this is a forum on recommended improvements to the game. You’re debating with wasted animosity towards me simply because you disagree with a proposal that doesn’t even exist officially in any capacity.
