Hot Take šŸ”„

I have no problem with Vanguard itself. I only have a problem with them making an event that is nearly impossible to finish without playing Vanguard and gating SKINR element rewards behind it. No more, no less. I’m not threatening to pull my money from the game or anything, I’m only griping about the event being so inaccessible to anyone not playing Vanguard. The person above was lying by claiming I spread misinformation, and being falsely accused triggers me hardcore. He then continued provoking me with Strawman and Hobson’s Choice logical fallacies. He completely ignored the issue and the valid points I brought up. I can’t respect people like that, especially in this day and age with what’s happening in my country. I don’t visit these forums much, so I didn’t know he was a known troll, and I’m not good at identifying such people because I’m inherently too honest most of the time.

I fully support any ventures CCP wants to launch. I just don’t want their business plan to include such blatant attempts at coercing a space sim completionist like me or artist like my girlfriend into playing an extraction shooter, a genre we inherently dislike and have no interest in. 350 points for Vanguard stuff, 1 point per kill otherwise. Heck, I even posted an idea far up there as to one little change that could fix the event: a task that grants points for delivering materials to a station that feeds INTO Vanguard to compliment the tasks that are connected to OUTPUT from Vanguard. Instead, he just kept needling me until I blew; I have what used to be called Asperger’s and I’ve been traumatized by people doing that to me and taking advantage of me IN REAL LIFE.

All I want is to see EVE be its best. I may not have a problem with them making Vanguard, but I still think it was a mistake. Why not a rail shooter where we pilot small ships on a planet and attack facilities? Why not a Gradius-like 2D space shooter to compliment the EVE experience? Instead, they dove into an entirely unrelated genre that appeals to, at most, a tiny subsection of the gaming community. Heck, a special SWTOR-style raid on a Mordu’s Legion facility would have been more appropriate.

That’s a different discussion, though. My problem here was ONLY the event locking SKINR components behind an event that is most easily finished in Vanguard and would be next to impossible to realistically achieve in EVE Online. Can you do it? Technically, yes, but again, it’s a Hobson’s Choice logical fallacy because it’s not a PRACTICAL choice.

You could have killed a 100 NPCs while writing up this stuff.

All good, bossman. Lingering trauma is the worst, and I sympathise with you freaking out over forum posters here. There are some here that would have made me develop aspergers myself, if they kept posting. There are dozens of people and their various alts out and about in here, that only open their mouth to further an agenda of theirs.

Best not to get too caught up over this. There are people here who have sunk their entire life into this game, sacrificing their future and eternally disgracing their ancestors. They cope with it by being annoying.
You can own them all, epically and unconditionally, by stepping away from the game and doing something better for a hot minute. Take care of yourself.

Noone forces you to do the event. And about the SKINR stuff being behind a grind: Welcome to the world of MMOs, that is the bread and butter of MMOs. Having stuff only Neckbeards with no RL can grind out is what keeps MMOs running. I play about 7 hours a week and I think it’s good that there is stuff I won’t be able to obtain. Why should I be able to get everything someone else who invests his whole life, for better or worse, into this game?

I sympathize with you, Selan. My advice is to do what I’ve done over the years. When you spot one of these CCP fanboi trolls (and they are legion on this forum) simply go to your preferences page and permanently block them. Out of sight, out of mind.

By the way, I totally agree with you on this ā€œeventā€. CCP used to have some imagination and actually cared but, sadly, those days are long gone.

You block anyone who enjoys the game?

Have you tried using scouts? I mean honestly Blackflag mostly sticks to Jita in The Forge, and Bully Brigade strictly exists to bash abandoned structures.

Yup. Welcome to EVE. This grind has been part of it for as long as I’ve been playing. (And it’s not just rewards, mining is one example of such grind). Not saying I support the type of game design, but I don’t know what a reasonable alternative would even be. If rewards weren’t locked behind a tedious grind, then there would still be those who grind them 20/7 anyway. That’s unfair towards those who don’t grind them, so the grindable rewards are usually pretty worthless.

That is debateable, many are here because this is where their community is and nobody wants to let their mates down.

Maybe that is why it was called Dust 514?

Not my industry, just the extraction shooter market is pretty saturated, its hard to see how this was the logical conclusion of where to invest.

I think a lot of it is tie-ins to the Eve universe. Making Eve, they have created a living universe for Eve players. By creating other titles, even shooters in a saturated market, they can breathe more breadth and depth into the game itself. If one shooter is successful and pays for its development on its own, as well as potentially generating a profit, then it can branch out into different titles that could affect and integrate into the EVE universe itself.

Think of Marvel movies. At first its a few separate titles every few years being produced. Now its tie-ins and spin-offs of successful titles here and there, seeing what will land for audiences and create a following in and of itself. Spiderwebbing off into new things people want and will buy to play, see, maintain, etc.

Have they all dropped dead so far? Yes, but like I said before, they are trying to produce something. So we are, in the end, all armchair quarterbacks calling the plays for our ā€œteamā€.

I understand how you must feel It really bad when the game doesn’t let you complete an even on purpoise because it want to force something else onnplayers instead I have quite many games because of the feeling was led by the nose instead to find sanbox as advertised. It is frutrateing.

I don’t respect people like that too. They live for conflict and affront and their their personality revolves around putting people down so they can feel superior. Those toxic people I aviod at all costs, they bring nothing positive to any experience. My way is no more than two replies and if their attitude persists right right then I can ignore without feeling guilty. No one should suffer brainless brutes like that in their lives or on a forum.

I am new ro this forum too and see lots of trolls get their jollyies putting people down but I expected toxic trolls in the forum of a PvP game anyway and they are easy to spot: they put words in your mouth and then admonish you for the words you never said. The toxicity is very transparent and not cleaver.

I understand, but we only players on this game & many of us guests. I don’t hold my breath when it comes to having a say in developement, like most game, the devs will do what corporate dictates and it’s ok with me. I already like the game as it is.

He’s ugly. That is what I thought when I read your posts where you tried to get through to him but he kept riling you up on purpose. He is ugly and you should not have insisted. He is nothing to get upset over, just another annoying human being like the world is unfortunately full of.

Just trolls like you.

Today i win eve because of the masses of farmers all the glitches and the fanboys who get in the way of Conversations about Eve’s issues.

I’ve been bitching for 10 yrs now. I am no fanboy. :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

Do you randomly capitalize first letters?

It’s not like they are going to spend it on anything anyone cares about. Just more SKINr crap that 95% of the players don’t even deal with.

Happens a lot to people that don’t use english as their native language. In other languages capitalizing first letters is used more often and it becomes a habit, sometimes done without thinking about it.
