How do we, as EVE community, ensure that our newbros are being well educated?

I’ll give you that for the most part. But some people love to do something, but they’re just not good at it.

I worked with a guy who enjoyed what he did but was downright bad at it. He repeatedly made the same and I mean simple mistakes. He was a nice guy, funny and I liked him, but I had to have him fired. His work was unreliable and dangerous to our customers. I remember his name and face. That was almost 40 yrs ago and I still regret I had to do it.

I understand that. I also had to let people go even though they did want to work and were eager but weren’t skilled enough for what was needed to complete the job. But I also had people who didn’t want to make an effort and were lazy.

This is just a game, but it’s a hard one. As much as CCP tries to tame it down, it does take effort. Thats something most new players are not willing to do. They just want a cool looking game they can chill at. Those players, I cannot teach simply because it’s not that they can’t learn, they just don’t want to.

I don’t have your experience. I haven’t met any EVE players yet who wanted to play well but didn’t want to learn. Maybe when I do meet some I will feel the same way.
