Seeing the successful trends maybe they will revive it by turn it into an everywhere safe spaces farming, PvE and sanctioned / opt-in PvP mobile game with microtransactions and earn all-time record profits by doing so.
And while doing so CCP will no longer have to bother with bittervets, grumpy hermits and whatnot, just gather magnitudes more profit for much less effort while sparing all the drama. All they have to do it is doing it right.
On education there are two schools of thought, those who teach with the stick and those who teach with the carrot. I am all for strapping them to a chair and beating them with a rubber hose.
If CCP decided to go that way. What players like me and others think would not matter. The whales would in a short time edge out any one that can not pay to win or pay to play.
Sure CCP and by extension PA would love that money that would roll in. At the same time everything about the game would have to dramatically shift from having to wait days or weeks. Would rapidly be able to skill in virtually anything. Depending on how much serious cash that a whale is willing to throw down.
All within a few hours or a couple of days at most. No more blowing up each other ships. A whale paid good money to fly that ostentatious thing with a lot RL money. The market would be gone as who wants to pay for something that a player made. When CCP can provide it cheaper with just a few dollars out one RL wallet.
Eve Online will have become just another game that heard the cry of a whale and answered the call. The sad part would be CCP would not be the first gaming studio to go completely and utterly in that direction.
The biggest plus is that within a few short years. No one would remember what Eve Online was really like or care. The youtube videos and such would get swallowed up by the algorithms. Outside of a curious few that actually click. Would see a game that no longer exists and move on.
For all the complaints of the game evolution from what it was even 5 years ago. I am thankful that the game does exist as so many games that were around 5, 10, 20, or even from the mid to late 1990âs are now distant memories. That only a few remember and fewer still care about.
I am happy that CCP has not answered the whales call for Eve Online. That as the Market has changed and is changing. That whatever missteps or happy accidents that happen. That the games fundalment idea and design has not changed. A true players market and the ability to shoot at each other and watch the pretty and sometimes very expensive fireworks of a blinged out ship.
CCP should introduce a mentor, buddy system where you can become a mentor/buddy if you become a verified player woth rewards for the mentor initiated by the buddy.
CCP should do no such thing, stuff like that already exists but player driven and if CCP would somehow get involved they would just make it worse.
Mentors, their energy and time are limited. New players and alts pretending to be new players are not. On top of that many people are too distracted/stupid/stubborn/uninterested to teach or help to a point where personal tutoring would be worth while. That means that such setups happen but on a per person basis and THAT means it should never be a CCP created mechanic.
Another thing. All the people I know that quitte and wonât return are because of nerfs and the changes to capitals making them to expensive and to weak. Also the rorquals stuff this cost them many people willing to be good money monthly for the game. The low retention is their own fault.
Untrue, they could have done many things to create more ism facets. A good way could be to reduce the the amount of loot that drops in pvp from example. In combination with some other things. There are many ways to make changes and not interrupt people spending a lot of time min maxing.
Eve University, The poster above you, and other Corporations that focus on teaching already exist. And as a matter of fact. Eve Uni does offer a mentorship program. I can not speak for the poster above you or for other corporations as to whether they do so or not. CCP does not hold anyone hands. In this game it is up to the players to either fill such a niche or not as we players decide.
Umm What? How would that help the game? I do not what in combination you are referring to, but when something is nerfed or buffed. The reason is that CCP us trying to balance something to make the playing field theoretically a little more level.
Every once in a blue moon it works out that way. Most of the time it is an ongoing issue with something a ship, module, or a game mechanic that is getting a little to strong or is not doing something as strong as the devs would like.
Now CCP does pay attention a lot more than other games that I have played were the gaming studio just throws out a buff or debuff with little no explanation. Changing the Meta at seemingly at will. CCP does try to keep players in the loop and while not always successful. CCP devs actually does better than most.
I share your concern. I believe in protecting and training new players. My Corp, Sun Gods was known for that. When we were threatened, we had ways to avoid conflict and learn to survive.
Iâll give you that for the most part. But some people love to do something, but theyâre just not good at it.
I worked with a guy who enjoyed what he did but was downright bad at it. He repeatedly made the same and I mean simple mistakes. He was a nice guy, funny and I liked him, but I had to have him fired. His work was unreliable and dangerous to our customers. I remember his name and face. That was almost 40 yrs ago and I still regret I had to do it.
This is just a game, but itâs a hard one. As much as CCP tries to tame it down, it does take effort. Thats something most new players are not willing to do. They just want a cool looking game they can chill at. Those players, I cannot teach simply because itâs not that they canât learn, they just donât want to.
Edit, Thinking about it, he might have been color blind? But he never told us. Thats something we could have worked around.
âThere are no bad studentsâ reeks of âItâs not my fault, whereâs my participation trophyâ. Of course there are bad teachers, tons of them but stating there are no bad students is hilarious.
I spend hours fiddling around with ship fittings. Its not something any video or tutorial can really âteachâ youâŚas true proficiency and knowing the options to fit only really comes with experience. It becomes second nature after a while, but that can take months. There really arenât any short cuts.
