How does Tritanium turn into plates for Ship Hulls?

There seems to be a missing step that could result in the addition of another blue print.

Tritanium plates

This is not a surprise and am sure this had been brought up in the past yet we are left with assumptions of how does tritanium used within the blueprint and manufacturing process?
