How learning implants prevent me from being content

I never considered +4’s to be the “training implants.” They are cheap enough to replace at any time. +5’s, on the other hand, I have never owned. I have always run around doing whatever with +4’s.

Are you a child?

Anyhow, I’m -10. I use implants occasionally.
Usually I lose my pod because I have implants,
because I mostly lose it exactly when I have them plugged in.

Murphy’s Law, etc.

We can only wish for people to grow more mature and self responsible over time …
… instead of themselves constantly declaring themselves victims of outside forces.

In this case it’s the implants. When you can’t get over it, then you can’t get over it.
You should learn getting over it, because it’ll help you for your Life as a whole, too.

In the end the “problem” really isn’t exactly rocket science.

It’s literally “■■■■ it, i’ll do it anyway”,
with everything else just being literal brainfuckery.

Try meditation.

Nope, but sometimes I hit the reply button before I realize what I am feeling and why I am writing something passive agressive.

I also am not a victim. I know these problems are all my own. I will continue to play and I will be fine if things don’t change. Just discussing how certain things influence my behavior. Totally understand if my specific situation does not resonate with you and is therefor uninteresting.

Ooohhh content

I kept reading it as “content”

Ha, didn’t realized my headline could be so misleading. I am indeed quite content (in a state of happiness) however I am not currently much content (a target to shoot at) for other people.

Keep doing things you don’t want …
… until you learn why you don’t want them.

And then stop caring.

I’m not going to read thorugh all 60+ posts,
but what’s missing in your initial post is your actual problem.

“learning implants keep me from going out”

That’s not the problem.
That’s a symptom of your problem.

What’s the cause of the symptom?

Well again to be clear, I don’t consider it a problem. I am perfectly happy with how I currently play the game. But we can run the a few whys on it anyway.

I don’t pvp because I don’t want to loose out on skill points - Why?
The emotional loss of the sp is greater than the joy that aspect of the game brings me. -Why?
Humans feel loss (even perceived loss) significantly more deeply than gains. As Im not really that into pvp to begin with, so the gains are low and the loss is high. - Why?
Well I probably have an inflated value of SP, managing clones (no matter easy it is now compared to before) is still too tedious for me, and the benefit to pvp is low because Im only mildly interested in it.

You can’t answer these questions in a general sense.

You have to give a personal answer,
else you can’t dig deeper.

That’s evidenced by your next “answer”, which contains a “probably”.
“Probably” as in “I have no idea”, which roots in the disconnected answer before.

So the question is:

Why are you emotionally attached to gaining as many SP as possible?

At this point honestly this thread has run its course.

OP has a standard FOMO mentality. The thread was started with an implication of “i’d like to do more PVP but…”

In the last reply he admits he is really only mildly interested in PVP, to the point that even the relatively easy methods to deal with clones is not easy enough.

Bottom line, I don’t think he really wants a solution. He simply wanted validation for his predicament.

Or this was a very well executed troll thread.

Fear Of Missing Out.

I was wondering about that too, but when a troll-thread goes so well …
… then the troll clearly failed.

Thats ok. Neither is a requirement of playing.

Some people never undock in general.

Fear of missing out and impatience. There will always be some ship or activity I want to try but cant because I don’t have the skills yet. I am not going to spend real money on injectors so my only option left is to wait. And waiting for something you want is no fun.

Okay now you pick up on what the other guy said.

The feeling of achieving something after “work” is called “satisfaction”.
No one forces you to wait. You can play the game during that time.

Have you heard of that word? Satisfaction?
It’s what you feel when you don’t get everything easily, all the time,
when you want it and instead have to put some effort into achieving what you want.

It’s pretty much the opposite of fun,
which is usually short lived and doesn’t last as long as satisfaction.
Fun Fact: People who don’t require instant/quick gratification are more successful in real life.

It was not intended to be a troll thread, and you are right I was not looking for solutions. It was more feedback for CCP in general. I did not expect anyone to actually care. I am frankly quite surprised at how many people it has riled up telling me my feelings are not valid. And to be honest, even though some individuals have been less than empathetic, I am very ok with the responses because it has kept the tread alive for much longer than I could have ever hoped.

Exactly, thats why I plan ahead and maximize my sp. Its like a savings account. You do more work upfront so you can get what you need when you actually need it.

And the funny irony is this is exactly why the different way that EVE works I find so much more enjoyable.

I don’t “wait”. I enjoy the journey. I find it fun to get good with the ships I have while I’m training for other.

The BIGGEST key difference with EVE however is that SP is not the main driver.

For example, I got into EVE years later than my friends, who bugged me to try it for forever. So when I started they were years worth of SP ahead of me. However for the most part I was and continue to be able to fly with them on all kinds of PVP and PVE activities. This even though they are millions of SP ahead of me.

Take most other games, like WoW. I would have had to grind like crazy to get on the same level they are in order to enjoy content with them. And if I took a break I would get behind again.

With the correct mentality EVE essentially REMOVES the level grind mentality.

Yeah, but the problem is the reason why you’re doing it. It’s because you have issues with awaiting that you’ll eventually reach your goal. I don’t have that problem, which is why I don’t give a ■■■■ about learning implants or skillpoints/hour. Time goes by anyway. Eventually the skill is done.

You’re an instant gratification addict.
You should look up how to get rid of that.

Wait, have you only got one character? Or do you put +4s on all three on this account like a madman?

I only have one character that could potentially pvp so +4s on the two others don’t really come into play.

So why not train em to 3 in Frig and cruiser and some gun skills and practise on them while your main slowly bastes like a rotary chicken full of skill points?

All characters can potentially pvp at any time.
