How to own the moon?

well, be surprised then. You have people who come with a fleet of 10+ orcas to just pick the ores the moment you detonate, with a 10 minutes marging.

But unless someone pays you for that risk, you never pop the moon.

That easy.

What ? The moon detonates by itself. you don’t know they are here, until they are.

What are you even talking about ?

No. You have to set the job. I’m not sure what you even mean by this?

If you’ve got the athanor there. Then just ask for isk to pop the moon. Let the person paying to mine it take all the risk you do or dont care if you ever pop it.

If you wait the moon detonates by itself. So you need to cancel the job. in the case you prepared for 1 month and nobody comes to take the job, that means you lost the fuel for 1 month.

Nobody is gonna pay you.

Alistair once again you should not talk about things you don’t know.

Once you have launched the job of extraction, when extraction cycle is over, you can pop the moonchunk. But if you don’t pop it, it explodes spontaneously a few hours after the end of extraction cycle and creates the moonbelt .

Yes you know when the end of extraction is planed. But it is not hard for other pilots to come regularly and check the distance from athanor to moon chunk. When it is at range you know it will pop soon.

Good job Alistair, keep posting and showing your knowledge

Tldr: as suggested by others: “no, you’re dumb. newbies don’t listen to this fool”

You are wasting your time, he can’t understand that he is wrong.

Just stick to civil explanations about why he is wrong ; otherwise you are doing bad things and are wasting your time and your karma.

He just want to understand things and is giving his all in the game, because he believes it’s worth doing so. No reason to laugh at him, at least he has hope.

Once someone pays you to set a moon job. You dont care what happens. Let it pop and they either get the moon goo or someone else does.

I already know this! This is UNIMPORTANT.

Not my fault you dont understand what I’m saying in plain English.

Seems like you don’t read properly.

Your statement that one cannot stop the cycle is the irrelevancy I’m referring to (but what you quoted wasn’t meant for you).

Whether or not someone will pay to pop the moon is the question.

But that’s true with rent in general.

I think people WILL pay to pop a good moon and take their chances to harvest.

Not suprised that it happens more curious if it’s an issue for every athanor running. Moon mining is still .5 or lower security, yes? The issue most are having I’m sure is in .5 space where you still have Concord to deal with if you attack miners.

So is .5 space just crawling with orcas constantly going after these chunks of moon or is it hit and miss depending on the area of the universe you are in?

Love these posts. I get the idea. In order for someone to take over that moon, someone would have to come along and destroy whoever’s structure that’s there. So, in a way, you would “own” the moon until your structure is no longer there. Just like no one “owns” a wormhole but they can control it while they have their structures and defenses in place.

Either way, decent idea, but not really something I see as going anywhere because people just simply wouldn’t use the moon. If it was a desired moon, then you’d simply have your structure removed from it.

I can’t say for general. I observed as I had several very worth athanors(compared to HS in general they were like the top 1% worth moons) , for friends (and for free), and people came before the friends could mine the belt with more orcas than friends had barges. I tried twice, and then shut down the athanors, and gave them later to other friends who have more barges.

The athanors were rigged T1 BTW.

Now that’s also what I observe in general in HS : people are going in ice anoms with like 20 orcas and clean it very fast, then move the 20 alts in another system and repeat.

I looked at system very far from jita, and it’s the same : worthy moon are competition for people who just come and take without paying anything, or so I guess. Maybe I’m wrong and some people actually pay something ; but nothing in the game forces you to do so.

no one in eve can own moons, as i own them all… seriously; just ask the people that live on them.

I was once a HS miner of 5 athanors in a system and part of a group that ran 4 more (9 total). I was plagued by this one player running 5 orcas who would time the chunks and show up to mine off the ore once the chunk fractured I had spent roughly 5b putting up those structures. fueled them for months… etc… etc. You’d watch your yield literally fly off in someone else’s orca. it was so frustrating. There isn’t really an “Eve” way to deal with it (blow them off the grid using the station’s more powerful guns). Hiring a merc isn’t worth the ore on the field. This is one area that the only way to win is not to play… or go steal someone else’s fields (which i may do one day). the HS moon mining situation is heavily slanted against the station owner. all of the investment and risk is on the station owner. Having that experience made me realize that the rules in High Sec (almost all the way around) heavily favor the thieves, the scoundrels, the gankers. Since i came to terms with that, i moved to a 0.0 alliance where the playing field is level and even. want to come steal my moon ore? better be ready for a bombing! you can’t gank my hauler on a gate because… JF and cynos are allowed so i just can JF my goods around. If you wander in my space ill shoot you… i don’t need permission or to worry about some stupid police force timer to beat - you die… or i die and we GF in local and the game is fair.

Highsec is not fair… it favors the higher skilled and more SP players who prey on the new lesser skilled players.

High sec needs a revamp.

as you said yourself, just shut the athanors down. This wya he won’t be able to parasite on you.

Man, you guys just keep letting this troll get to you. It’s hilarious. It’s even more hilarious that he doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about and you try to correct him and then he changes his approach. This is popcorn worthy if it wasn’t so pathetic.
