I recently bought @Nicander_the_Explorer from the bazaar and wondered if the skill sheet was correct on the estimates on the skill injectors and how long it would take to train her going the normal route. So I asked google ai for a breakdown of how EVE Online does the SP thing.
Training Speed Breakdown
Training Rate: An optimized attribute remap (27 primary / 21 secondary) combined with +5 implant sets yields 45 skill points per minute (2,700 SP per hour).
Daily Yield: You accumulate 64,800 skill points per day under these maximum non-booster conditions.
Total Time:
Reaching 120,000,000 SP at 45 SP/min takes 1,852 days or 5.07 years.
Timelines for all major training variants to reach 120 million skill points
To achieve the fastest training times in EVE Online, you have to stack multiple mechanics.
Under the absolute best conditions (using perfect remaps, +5 implants, and high-tier cerebral accelerators), you can push training times down from 5 years to under 4 years, or bypass the time entirely using injectors.
Here are the timelines for all major training variants to reach 120 million skill points.
1. Passive Training Variants (No Injectors)
These variants assume 24/7 continuous training using perfect attribute remaps (45 SP/min base) but apply different booster and implant setups.
Note: Maintaining 100% uptime on high-tier Cerebral Accelerators requires a constant supply of ISK or PLEX, as they generally have short lifespans.
2. Active Training Variants (Daily Rewards & In-Game Activities)
You can shave months off your timeline by logging in daily and doing brief activities.
Daily Alpha/Omega Challenges: Completing the daily automated tasks grants receive-on-demand SP (usually 2,500 to 10,000 SP per day depending on current events). Shaves roughly 15 to 45 days off per year.
Daily Skill Injectors: You can consume one Daily Skill Injector every 24 hours for a flat 50,000 SP.
If used every day alongside base +5 optimized training, your daily intake rises to 114,800 SP.
Total time drops to 2.86 Years (1,045 days).
3. Immediate “Brute Force” Injection (Zero Time)
If you want 120 million skill points instantly, you must account for diminishing returns from Large Skill Injectors. Characters lose injection efficiency as their total SP grows.
To go from a fresh character (approx. 500,000 SP) straight to 120,000,000 SP, you need a total of 119.5 million SP from injectors:
0 to 5M SP: (100% efficiency = 500k SP per Large Injector) → 9 Injectors
5M to 50M SP: (80% efficiency = 400k SP per Large Injector) → 113 Injectors
50M to 80M SP: (60% efficiency = 300k SP per Large Injector) → 100 Injectors
80M to 120M SP: (30% efficiency = 150k SP per Large Injector) → 267 Injectors
Total Required:489 Large Skill Injectors applied instantly.
what i don’t think thats taking into account is each skill trains at a different multiplyer.
Unless you NEED 120mil sp, which you probably don’t, it really depends on the skills you train.. a lot of ppl prefer to specialize in certain things.. i’ve got 130 mil, but im also a jack of all trades.
Yes, that would be the reason indeed. They search “skill points” and find this handy skill counter for them to quickly get a feel on what they want to do with their skill queue or maybe want to use injectors or maybe both. I am using this info in my spreadsheet to check on characters that I might like buying. That is how I got this char. From this character bazaar sale.
Sadly, no. But there have been occasions where AI has told them to mix laundry detergent into their pancake batter, or told them toxic mushrooms were perfectly edible, and they’ve done what the slop told them. It’s only a matter of time.
Check the character bazaar for a good deal like this.
Look at:
Known skills at level 5: 147
Possible extractions will be high (229) and the total skillcount will be high too (120M SP)
Analyze what “professionalization” the player got stuck in: mining, resource proessing, etc and start looking for “burned out or bored PVE chars” to buy
Calculate your costs: 229 x Skill Extractors = $105 B ISK and see if you make a profit: 229 x 700M = 160B ISK and 75B to buy the character: - 20B ISK, plus all the dumb stuff you need to do to eventually see that money come into your pockets.
Be careful also to not get scammed with the char bazaar
So if the whole buying character business is not even a good business, why do it?
The character itself has excellent use ingame for mining, resource processing, mission running, hauling, etc. at a high level which you would buy into without the 4 years time sink.
The 20B loss is a R&D opportunity for you to see if you like being a EVE player at veteran levels because what you can do in the game is only because of the character that you own.
But mostly and no veteran will ever admit to this; You can build 3 x 40M SP pro chars from the one “overtrained” character. So you can have a mining & resource processing character, a pvp character and a hauler, marketeer character. What you would loose from the 120M SP char is for instance not being able to fly an Orca or have some of your skills at level 5.
So it is still a good investment to repurpose those skillpoints? Of course it is if you know how to get the most out of them.
Special advise:
Use the character bazaar of the EVE Forums but don’t get sucked in the discussions
Use A.I. for any question you might have with this game, it’s easier, faster and cheaper
Never train (using the skill queue) your character over 50M SP if you can avoid it. Better to buy a char otherwise you will be paying for 2 to 3 years omega subscription costs to find out you should have bought the character instead.
There is no shame in using dollars instead of grinding for PLEX
Good luck with your EVE Online adventure, have fun with it and fly VERY unsafe always
Player makes questionable money-wasting choices based on AI answers and then feels the need to share the AI answers with others.
It’s no surprise this too is One Ugly Cat.
Character buying is good business because it potentially allows you to buy characters with skills you want well beyond the heavy injector thresholds.
To then look specifically for a character with PvE skills like mining and refining, and then extract those skills does not sound like efficient use of money to me.
But do what you want, just please spare us your AI posts.
Getting ‘sucked in to a discussion’ whilst advising against it
Of course AI recommends AI over people, gotta suck in as many users as possible.
Why would you not train using the skill queue? If you’ve got Omega (and there’s many benefits to Omega which have nothing to do with skill training) then not training for every second of Omega you paid for is just wasting the money/Omega time.
AI-provided answers are certainly easier and faster than asking a human (not sure what “cheaper” means in this context, mind you).
However, they sure as hell ain’t better than getting answers from a human, because their accuracy is flaky at best. Example: the above advice about using daily skill injectors for an Omega clone - i.e. nonsense.
Just like the advice the search engine AIs have given me about fits for various ships (which invariably don’t meet the requirements, on the rare occasions when they are actually importable at all).
tl;dr: want a fast answer and don’t care about accuracy? Go for AI every time!
