How will pirates that hunt you down affect PVE?

Some I can think of that post date 2003.

  • L4s
  • Pirate missions
  • L5s
  • Epic arcs
  • Cosmos agents (area specific)
  • static plexes moved to exploration (so they are not group dominated)
  • unrateds + their escalations (a big body of content)
  • anomolies (+ they escalate giving more access to the complexes that were once static / group dominated).
  • the gas combat/hacking hybrids (which there are quite a few, some of which are region specific, I’ve done the vale and cloud ring specific ones)
  • burners
  • events like the scope/serpentis event
  • the agency etc

FOBs are released in 3 days … where is all the info about them?

  • What is the reward for destroying the FOB?
  • How strong are the rats at the FOB?
  • What kind of player is this for? (newbie/intermediate/veteran)
  • At which standing will the NPC rats start to hunt you?
  • Will they attack you at gates and stations? Follow you through gates? Find you in safespots?
  • Will they have a full sized fleet with dps, logi, ewar, tackle, booster, etc?
  • Will they point/scram/web?
  • etc

Ugh. I didnt consider the agency new content because it was so bad. You know how i did the agency content? I used a drone boat, warped to beacon, deployed drones and … watched a movie. 10 min later i scooped loot and warped to next site. Even doing the sites in a afk-ish was a waste of time because the rewards were so bad. (You would earn more with afk ratting.)

The last agency event, warzone extraction, was much better though. You had a litte bit of story, you had to do more than just “kill all rats” and the rats were challenging. I hope they use warzone extraction as bluepring for future events.

Issue i have with the FOB’s is that if they do spread and cause issues (ie drifter like incursions) then what i see during incursions will become a new normal.

What i see with incursions in highsec where ever they appear…is the miners and indy and great many mission runners move or log into alts somewhere else instead of grouping up and popping the mom as fast as possible to return to their daily routines. (and not give 2 cents what incursion runners feel about that)

With these FOB’s some of the reports I’m hearing are pretty significant on the risk factor, and if them and their spawns disrupt things beyond a certain point you are going to see more people leaving game rather then trying to deal with them.

And when i say reports, im talking about my TS and listening to friends on SiSi…tengus lost in 3 seconds of coming out of warp, Marauders killed in a minute or 2, Guristas FoB i have heard can neut also, not just blood raider fleet spawns…

I applaud the fact CCP is trying to introduce new things, but the literal forcing of people not like minded into groups is just wrong…like the incursions themselves, my personal issue is with the fact you can no longer solo the scout sites no matter what you do, sometimes not even 2-3 peeps grouped is enough, i would prefer that at least was possible even if the scouts were worth 1/10th of what they are now, there is no point in doing them because if you have a large enough group to do them easily you can do Vanguards instead…and I am one of those that do not chase incursions all day, not my thing.

Nope in some way I am with Jenn here on this one.

Adds some variety to the experience of right clicking and shooting AI controlled ships. But it’s still just right clicking and shooting AI controlled ships. When they start working on some level of completion and some actual video game essentials, then it’s getting somewhere. If they actually believe this will… change something. Then CCP are even bigger mongoloids than i thought.

Maybe in 8-12 years they’ll try tackling station interiors again and making NPCs.

All very good questions.

Here is another … Will these npcs continue to pod players on TQ?

Perhaps @CCP_Paradox could provide some answers?

Also I don’t think there has been a SISI test of FOB’s, which seems strange.

Also will they attack anchored objects like containers and mobile depots… are they the clean up crew many of us long been waiting for? :smiling_imp:

They will attack vulnerable Upwell structures…

Guess we’ll see how this actually works on zkillboard tomorrow.

It’ll be rather interesting if CCP release some statistics on this like the statistics for burner missions before.

Anyone know about respawn mechanic yet? Does one new FOB spawn when one is destroyed? I can imagine the most likely case if the reward is not crazy: people destroying FOBs until they spawn in systems that nobody cares.

People are in high sec because they don’t want to fly in fleets and defend themselves when they farm. It’s why CCP had to nerf player piracy over the years to protect the hordes of bears who outnumbered the pirates 100 : 1.

yeeeaaahhh, let’s put them all into the safe-space bucket, suuuurrrrreeee…

Recently I am being aware that 3-4 systems within 3 jumps to each other in the High-sec pocket I dwell spawned FOB one after another. Looking up the Zkillboard record on FOBs I think the spawn rate is much faster than the rate that FOBs are killed now. But in the other hand people are finding ways to kill FOBs with little risk. I think the FOBs will slowly reach an equilibrium.

Besides that I am pretty unsure of how much the FOB pirates would actually do, looks like most ships they killed were only belt miners and I haven’t see them gatecamping (the closest one I see is some guristas Kestrels hanging around a citadel 2000km from a gate).

Had my first encounter with the Gurista kestrels in my home system. They originally were orbiting a nearby citadel and attacking it. I warped over and they ignored me even though I was at -6.0. AB over to them and at a distance of around 30km they yellow boxed me and moved to attack. I was in a HAMgu and easily tanked the incoming, but even a TP assist made the killing slow. Transhipped to a blaster Proteus and returned but they had left and were orbiting a new citadel and attacking it. They orbit at high speed and my Proteus had to cut the corner to intercept the remaining two. They completely ignored me, even when they were targeted. I was able to web and deal over half damage before they even reacted. I didn’t salvage, but a pilot reported scraps and junk components. Found and reported in system FOB. Will return and test mechanics of kestrels and FOB tonight.

Comics are not an art form that is intellectually inferior to books without pictures.

I didn’t mean Moebius, for example. Most of Marvel/DC products are pulp. Comics were short, comic stories in form of strips. Most of earth population still thinks about them that way. Hard to compare superheroes comics to Anna Karenina or La Peste.

Well most of the Earths population is in the far east so I doubt that lol.

And I can think of quite a few “pulp” comics that are superior to many books.

Given they are both different media, I dont think the comparison or by extention our differing views on the matter are helpful to the topic.

Plus also how intellectually unstimulating. Why not add Joyce in there to really kill people with dullness

Timeless novel about symbolic plauge or comic book about super man wearing his panties on his trousers? I don’t have a hard choice here  Never read Joyce.
