Hello @Princess_Rose_Ivory I like to live on earth, thank you very much. They can send the robots to explore space and land on planets. I like to breathe fresh air and swim in the ocean.
The Moon is a dead body and most the other planets on our solar system are all dead, there is no life and no way to sustain human civilization, even if the dreamers think there is.
Whoever will try to colonize Mars will simply end up dead. These ideas of planet colonization come from science-fiction. Some people cannot differentiate between reality and movies. It’s actually quite humorous.
They guess it will be in roughly 5 billion years.
Probably safe to say, we won’t live to see it.
About 4 to 7 billion years from now, when hydrogen fusion in the Sun’s core diminishes to the point where the Sun is no longer in hydrostatic equilibrium, its core will undergo a marked increase in density and temperature which will cause its outer layers to expand, eventually transforming the Sun into a red giant. This process will make the Sun large enough to render Earth uninhabitable approximately five billion years from the present.
So you mean we have some time to prepare then. That’s nice to know
Well I’m guessing it will be around 20 to 30 billion years before we even have to worry about it, as long as we’re guessing…
They are called explorers people who make dangerous expeditions into unknown lands. In the past, if people feared exploring or humans never moved far from where they were born, the population of the Earth would mostly be located in Africa today. I know my European ancestors jumped onto leaky boats and said, “Good bye everyone! I am off to live in the new world and maybe I will die.”. But obviously my ancestors did not die.
I can accept your opinion, as I suspected, there are many others here who agree. They don’t desire to explore space and others who don’t want to leave the safety of their basements.
True. There have been 30 or more extinction level events in the past. Human’s are riding the most recent wave. A few billion years from now, the sun eats the Earth, or one of those rogue asteroids we missed, pockets us like the 8 ball on the cosmic billiard table tomorrow.
People move and recolonize when there is a disaster. Question is when do you move? Some people like those in Pompeii felt like they had no reason to move out.
If I were younger, then I might move to Mars. I wouldn’t want to be the first colonists there. They would have it the hardest. Some of the first colonies into North America was absolute disasters. Roanoke was one such colony that failed on an epic level. I would wait for others to build before the voyage. I imagine our Moon would be mostly underground labs and bio-science facilities for testing dangerous viral and biological threats. I mean, who really cares, if a zombie virus gets loose on the Moon?
I am sure this is why we see a lot of tiny family graveyards here and there throughout the US. My sister is only 2 years younger than I, on occasion we still visit our parents graves 30 miles / 48 km away from where we live. She and I are the last of the family. If I die before my husband, I told him to just keep my ashes here in the home. Pass them down to family so they don’t have to travel. When I asked him his wishes… he told me to have him stuffed and mounted in an angry bear pose. Then I am to tell everyone that is what I shot last hunting season. He doesn’t seem to care about his remains.
I don’t think they seek life on the Moon or Mars, it is just to explore. There are some scientists who want NASA budget spent on deep sea exploration instead. The problem I see there, is the crushing depths of the ocean as opposed to the vacuum of space. Life is on the bottom of the ocean but it is built to live down there.
I would have to say it is likely they would die out there. But as I stated above, failures like Roanoke didn’t stop the European colonists back then. I am starting to perceive there are few to none adventurers here.
They mostly hang out at Star Trek conventions and tell me how the warp drive really works.
Have fun!
Yes but the early explorers were going places with air, trees, lakes and animals, they weren’t going places where there would be 99.99% chance of dying or they would’ve stayed home.
Mainly, they don’t want to go to places where they know they will surely die.
So you want to “explore” after the explorers. You want to let others die before you make a move. How brave of you.
I don’t live in North America.
I agree. There is more to learn in the depths of the oceans than on a dead planet.
It can be dealt with. Human ingenuity goes beyond what we can foresee today.
The European colonists back then didn’t have to deal with a lifeless void and lifeless planets where one mistake would have caused the doom of the entire expedition.
You can’t compare past explored places with space and dead planets. There is no comparison.
Going on a adventure or an expedition doesn’t necessarily mean certain death. That’s not being adventurous, that’s being idiodicly suicidal.
Looneys
The early explorers didn’t know anything about the places they were traveling. They had to take supplies with them, including food and water. I think many of the space explorers have already proven your math wrong on chances for survival. According to the known statistics there is only a 2.8% fatality rate with roughly total of 30 deaths globally due to space exploration.
Now who is trolling me Tiff? I said, “They would have it the hardest.”, you omitted that part in quoting me. People before you, died for you to be where you are in this world today. Does that give me the right to call you a coward as well?
You either are being obtuse or completely missed the point.
So can the hazards of space travel. As I see it, the people who died on the Titan, didn’t need to as the owner made dangerous budget cuts building his submarine. Director James Cameron is a deep sea explorer and a dreamer of space exploration as well.
You are living in a different time of commercial cruisers and ocean cargo tankers. First they had no clue what was on this side of the planet. Columbus expected to find a trade route to India across the Atlantic Ocean. Columbus made several errors in calculating the size of the Earth. He set off with 3 ships supplied with food and fresh water. The ocean is full of salt water, it was a void just as dangerous as space back then, in a wooden ship not much larger than house. Then imagine adding 40 men inside that floating house and hoping the food and water doesn’t run out.
In conclusion, I just thought the people here, who play this game about future space combat and exploration. would be more open-minded to the possibilities. Eve Online community is very different from other science fiction social groups.
Have fun!
Well fine, I’m wrong. It wouldn’t be the first time. No big deal.

@Princess_Rose_Ivory I’m staying on planet Earth where it’s nice and green, thank you very much.
You can go to space on Mars or on Uranus if you like, where there’s nothing to keep you alive, no one is holding you back.
Go on an killer adventure… without me
@Princess_Rose_Ivory If you don’t like people’s opinions don’t ask them for their opinions. Don’t open a thread asking people if they’d like to die in space and get mad when they tell you they don’t want to die in space.
This whole thread is an attempt at trolling.
That proves my point: the hazards of deep-sea exploration can be dealt with.
Of course. But you asked if sending robots versus humans was a better idea. I say that it’s better to send robots.
Good for him.
Yes yes, but they weren’t going to space millions of miles to a dead planet.
You seem to have trouble realizing what space and dead planet mean. It seems that for you it’s all just a walk in the park.
I am open minded to the possibilities but it also means that we should keep our options open and I think the robot/drone/AI option is a better option for space missions.
Did you know that originally NASA was thinking about sending drones to the moon instead of humans?
Those are some amazing robots on the Artemis mission, they look just like humans to me.
@Princess_Rose_Ivory you should know better than this, there are few players here who won’t crush dreams, rip your heart out, and stomp on your soul. Didn’t I tell you to stay clear of these forums except for technical questions?
NASA Artemis II - April 2026 humans return to the moon.
Fly safe o7
Whatever. It is a fact that originally NASA did not want to use humans.
Also, maybe you can go with her into space on a killer adventure to a dead planet and stay there. Let’s see how cocky you get when you run out of air, water and food.
Are you noticing how you turn around in your discussion as fits? Why?
The quoted stuff on wikipedia is rather outdated. Newest research shows the earth will not be in the habitable zone anymore within the next 1 billion years, because the sun is getting too hot. Way before the sun will actually expand.
Why is the sun getting too hot or expanding? → i have fed your texts into the next best AI and it suggests i shall answer to you for your limited mind to be able to understand: “Because no one is able to refuel it and there is a burning process underway which consumes stuff, making it a sun by definition”
I don’t need to explore space to run out of food, water, and air, it can be done right here on Earth. I guess words like famine, drought, and being trapped in an underground chamber during an Earthquake elude you. The original poster won’t be back for at least few days, she got sick and ended up in the hospital again. When I go up to visit the lady tomorrow, I will be sure to pass on your exact words. Unless they allowed her to have her cell phone, in that event, I am fairly certain she has read them already. I admire her spirit and optimistic personality in such dank hole as this world is so quickly eroding. There are so few people like her and plenty of twisted bastards like us on this Earth.
One thing about this off topic thread I noticed right away. Instead of a polite discussion, the OP is attacked, she comes back in and respects everyone’s opinion, and gets attacked again. I never ran into one polite discussion on this whole forum. I invited her to play here about 2 years ago, I think I regret it now.
