I accept responsibility for my losses. But EVE is starting to feel like a second job

I won’t read the trolling and will cut to the chase: pay with real money. Buy PLEX from CCP and sell for ISK. EVE’s pricing and rewards hasn’t been in a “pay it by playing it” position for years. Old timers, Malcanis’ law, inflation and CCP’s need to pay the bills with a shrinking customer base are against you.

Either you fund EVE with money not time, or you’ll need to find a cheaper game.

Whilst I do sympathise to some degree, as the 1st 2 replies say, do not fly what you cannot afford to lose. Now you may be able to afford to lose them as such but are defeated by the idea of have to grind to replace the loses. So perhaps the wording should be “Do not fly what you cannot afford to replace, or do not want to grind for a replacement”.

Had you not ignored the local spike then you would still have your 8b isk worth of ships. If your enjoyment of the game lessens when you lose ships like that then simply fly cheaper ships as was already mentioned, you may have more fun in the game when not worried about the potential loss mail.

Personally the ships I consider expensive in my inventory are mainly in high sec, I tend to be quite frugal in my own ships unless it is a doctrine fit

Just by curiosity after watching the 2 killmails.

Is there a problem with zkillmail? Because it seems you lose your Paladin and then come back with an apoc Navy Issue to make 63% of the damage on the Machariel of your friend.

I don’t get it even if this is surely a zkillmail problem

Most probably smartbombing in apoc navy, then switched to paladin to clear up the rest (and get caught). The damage sticks for quite a while, so when you smartbomb, you get on friendly killmails.

Indeed…my big expensive ships ( my most expensive is a Vargur…not blinged at all, around 1.2bn ) spend most of their time rusting in dock from lack of use. A Vargur is simply an over-priced Tornado…more than ten times the cost but not ten times as good.

I spend most of my time flying cruisers, which in my view are the perfect ships. Not as puny and cardboard as frigates and destroyers, but also not as overly expensive and bad tracking as battleships and beyond. I have all four of the T3 cruisers skilled to level V…but even then my favourite ship is still an ENI, fitted to do 5.63 AU/s, 1000 DPS, with neut and scram and warp disruptor…all for just 65m ISK.

Not adding the poop emoji was a major oversight.

Premise right here, not 100% true, since EVE is about finding the loophole and lying about it, but the facade is pretty much this for the incapable one.

If you are working hard, you doing it pretty wrong. As stated, other game is recommended, or having a big wallet.

Don’t listen to this guy spoutin nonsense. Never feel discouraged by anyone encouraging you to leave a game. You can figure it out and you don’t need to throw a lot of money at this game. Try to surround yourself with good things and good people and block or ignore people like this with their garbage attitude. You got this. :face_blowing_a_kiss:

The irony is over nine thousand in here.

Like all petty people, you were so eager for a cheap shot, you totally contradicted yourself in such a HARD way, only the most unaware person would believe.

I mean, it’s hard to read your crap, but your history of spending 5 thousand dollars is very easy to remember.

How low people can go? Well, I’m always impressed with EVE forums…

I mean “as stated”, the opinion was stated before my comment, I was just reinforcing that EVE may not be for people that cannot accept the way it works. Not sure why I’m the trash one when the opinion came before me.

Ops, FRIDAY!

Why don’t I go the extra mile and ask why you so angry with me @One_Ugly_Cat1 , I gave you utmost respect, even while you only wrote utter garbage.

Unless you somehow projecting @Mina_Tsunami anger, which is pretty curious, you ain’t the same right? I swear I saw Mina critizing your posts, was that SHENANIGANS?

Oh!!! I’m shocked.

Regards. Now I’m going to play some Suikoden V, plz do not interrupt my good time. Go extract some SP elsewhere, lol.

These AI gen posts are getting out of hand.

its been a second job since day dot..

Well, I’m as guilty as the op. I figured it out the hard way and hopefully he will take some of the advice offered in this thd. Thankfully, I figured it out with cheaper ships.

Well…for me 3.2bn would not be a ‘major loss’ in the first place. Just a few percent of my total assets. I’d be more annoyed to have even created a ship that blingy and wasted ISK losing it…but I’d get by easily.

For me the real question is…why are you even putting so much of your total assets into one blingy ship ? I have my assets spread across over 200 ships…none of them much over 1bn ISK and probably averaging 250m ISK. When it comes to ratting NPCS, you can decimate them with something as humble as a Vagabond.

I can’t think of any reason to use a 3.2bn ISK Marauder…especially if its value was more than half my total assets.

one solution is, stop listening to youtubers that claims ratting in battleships isn’t suicide, want to rat, use a drake

Ignoring all the mistakes and bad decision you made Bad Girll, and focussing on the part you want to discuss:

• The ‘replacement’ or ‘farming’ gameplay loop can be boring

AND

• Insurance doesn’t work as well as it should

The first point I’d argue you’re generally correct - farming and making ISK by grinding is boring. It is your time to spend, and if you’re not enjoying it grinding ISK then change your method.

The boredom can be mitigated by trying a wide variety of ‘grinds’ - Join FW and run some plexes, or run some abyssals - go exploring to make some ISK. Limit yourself to a day or two (a couple of hours) of one activity before switching to another.

On the insurance - I’d agree you’re also correct - the payout for ship insurance (especially T2 ships) is entirely prohibitive to flying them. The argument is T2 ships shouldn’t be the baseline everyone uses so the insurance needs to be ‘less’ than flying a T1. This is a rubbish argument IMHO and yes insurance on T2 ships should be much higher - like 25% to 50% of the build cost. Additionally the build cost should be the main lever used by FC to make such a loss painful enough to stop everyone using T2 as a baseline NOT the insurance IMHO. I feel FC have already done this by altering T2 build costs and generally the higher market price reflects the performance increase of using T2 over T1 or faction vs pirate ship. Better insurance payouts does inject more ISK into the game economy sure, but there’s also more levers these days for example through buying PLEX to spend on SKINs/SKINR etc to remove that ISK again.

I would also add modules are 100% your choice so expense there shouldn’t be insurable so ‘blinging’ remains just as valuable/expensive.

Anyway, I just wanted to comment on the valid points you raised and not on the expensive losses you suffered. I hope this helps - fly safe(r) o7.

Edited: a bit more detail and clarity and some spelling errors. Cheers.

Unfortunately not all bad girls are the same, some can do whatever they want and receive no consequences while others get the book thrown at them.

Pretty privilege is a thing I know it’s not cute or fair but it’s just how things are.

Think of it as a learning experience bad girl enough to do the crimes but not quite cute enough to get away with it.

Look at the lossmails for the region, the avalanche ( not the ship, the wall of dirt land mass ) of a dozen blops that can drop out of nearby low security space is going to kill even brick tank Maruder pretty fast.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for a bait and counter drop!

Absolutely BRICK tank a Paladin and have a cloaked HIC ready to bring in the boom.
