you know nothing about ratting… vagabond? mate you will get 5 m tick with that
good ticks ±150m require around 15b setup (3 accounts). setup is ultra safe, been ratting every day for more than a year with it and never lost a ship. Just never use bastion and give some attention to polarized modules in pve
blingy ship is not a problem. problem is using bastion in providence 
I understand your frustration, but it is often a risk-versus-reward situation. It happened in 0.0, and the fact that you used a marauder doesn’t help either. I love those ships, but once they commit to a fight, they can’t just leave, and without that, they would be too good. You already said you know what the better safety measures would have been, and I understand that you sometimes just want a relaxed session.
Have you thought about having a jump clone in the empire and doing some content there when you want a more relaxed session? A bomber gang could still blip you out, but that does not happen that often.
Another thing that could help is using an ECM ship as a 3rd ship to help you get out, but that only works if you don’t opt in for a marauder.
Aren’t you choosing to not play Eve because of the skill queue? And yet here you are from last week claiming to be a grizzled veteran.
