I gave EVE a try --cannot recommend to new players

Sensitive crybaby hmm??
based on what? making an observation of something that happened, and saying I can see how that could effect how new players see the game, and on game retention?

No. In your world apparently everything’s an opinion and everyone’s significant.
Both are incorrect.

It’s not my personal opinion that there’s no significant newbie griefing going on. It’s a fact.
If there was, we’d be knowing about it, because there would be evidence. People would complain.
There are no people complaining, CCP also never said anything about it, and that’s all there is to it.

Not because I think it is, but because that’s the reality of the situation.

Their personal experiences are, just like yours, completely insignificant in the bigger picture.

Based on the very fact that …
… except for you …
you
… no one actually cares about you getting ganked.

No one. Not the guy who shot you …
… not us …
… and definitely not CCP.

The only one who cares is you
… and you wrongly believe that there is an issue …
… when all that happened is that you, you personally, got randomly ganked.

I can only keep telling you that the issue you think exists …
… does not actually exist …
… and that you’re simply taking it more personally than you should.

You’re approaching this seriously rational matter in a completely irrational (emotionally motivated) manner. There’s even room to argue that your rather cold, neutral seeming way of expressing yourself is a sign of self defense, because you’re often having a hard time dealing with your feelings and emotions. You’re into BDSM, so there’s probably some merit to that, but whatever.

If you can’t accept that the problem is you and your idea of this hurting retention …
… and you can’t accept that you are not welcome if you don’t like this happening …
… then what can anyone here do?

Nothing.
Absolutely nothing.

So the best, most rational course of action is either that you accept that it happens …
… or you quit the game and move on with your life.

Is there any evidence that this alleged highsec newbie gank really happened? I think I missed it.

I didn’t care looking, tbh.
This whole thing can’t grow any more pointless.

Solstice,
oh, would you care to quote anything I said that was in a " completely irrational (emotionally motivated) manner."???
“It’s not my personal opinion that there’s no significant newbie griefing going on. It’s a fact.
If there was, we’d be knowing about it, because there would be evidence. People would complain.”
and yet it happens often enough that you get annoyed at all the people complaining? Do you often try and make a point by contradicting yourself?
“There’s even room to argue that your rather cold, neutral seeming way of expressing yourself is a sign of self defense, because you’re often having a hard time dealing with your feelings and emotions.” so, in the same conversation, you call me an “emotional crybaby” and “cold and neutral” so I guess you -are- in a habit of contradicting yourself.

No. What you’re showing us is that you’re trying to approach this rationally.

What you’re not showing us is how you feel about what actually motivates you: The fact that you ganked.
That really affects you for some reason. You got ganked and you’re taking it personally.

It’s plain as ■■■■ that you’re taking it personally …
… at least for everyone else.

If you actually believe that you’re approaching this reasonably …
… then you’re sorely mistaken and just prove my point about your emotional issues.

In any case …

… if you don’t like it …
… you can just quit …
… as you’re not being forced to play.

Or are you?

Oh,
would you care to show your logic in how I’m taking it personally?
it’s funny how I comment that folks don’t make sense, by making a hostile environment, and then complaining that they don’t get enough ‘willing victims’ in that environment, that’s pretty much akin to smashing your hand with a mallet, and then wondering why your hand hurts.
and so now you and maybe 1 or two other folks, known for consistantly posting negative things are to be considered ‘everyone else’, but you tried to take offense at me using ‘they’ as a plural for multiple people…

@Xeux

Can we make this a common thing?
I mean … We all know this game isn’t meant for everyone.

Maybe I’ve been doing this all wrong? I usually don’t engage in such conversations,
especially not in so many posts. This must have been my longest continuous discussion here in … years!

“This game isn’t for everyone. Just quit if you don’t like it.”

A reasonable person in your position would have stopped long ago.

You insist on there being an issue when we, who are here for longer than you, tell you there is none.
You’ve been told to report it if you got griefed, which is all anyone here can actually do anyway.

Fair enough,
I have a habit of when folks raise a point, I respond to it.

If you wish to fight Newbie griefing …
… then you can do your part.

All you have to do for that is getting ganked in the areas where ganking new players isn’t allowed.
Losing a rookie ship and an empty pod costs you literally nothing.
When it happens you report the player via ticket.

He will be dealt with.

Soltice,
actually, reading back in the thread,
I made a observation about how folks were talking and reacting,
you responded to me by saying that ‘it doesn’t happen’
I responded that I personally observed it happening so yes indeed it does happen.
You made the assumption that I think it is a major issue, I continued the conversation to correct where you mispoke.
I guess the old saying about ‘assume’ holds very true, hmm?

Of course I’ve assumed you’re talking about a significant amount of new players getting ganked specifically …
… because anything else isn’t actually worth talking about.

A singular experience like yours isn’t really worth even looking at.

Solstice,
you must not understand marketing very well then…
if you are trying to convince a group of people to buy a new model of car,
and the prototype blows a cylinder and catches fire… it may not be a significant number of the cars having an issue, but the one can seriously color how the brand is percieved…

https://eve-offline.net/

257 new accounts in the last hour.

Even if one of hundred gets ganked …
… that doesn’t even mean he’s just going to quit.

It would be foolish to assume that every new player who gets ganked takes it personally and just quits …
… especially in EVE ONLINE. This isn’t World of Warcraft. We play by different rules.

Even if you quit because of that …
… and you won’t, that’s clear …
… you’re already replaced.

No, I actually do. EVE ONLINE is not a game for everyone.
These “Everyone” covers you as well, btw.

Get over it …
… or quit the game.

I don’t know why you are arguing with this guy. It is pointless.

Xeus and Solstice,
I’ve earned almost 2b isk already, and have lost about 25 ships to “let’s try a quirky fitting, oh well, -that- didn’t work”
I don’t see how pointing out that “making a major NPC Warzone, and having free for all ganking in a newbie tutorial area may not be the best decision to try and encourage retention” is such a hard concept to grasp…

It’s funny to read that line from someone else.
Usually I’m the one who says that …
… but I’m usually just complaining about how both sides want to be right.

I don’t know. I haven’t done it in years. I don’t do these types of talks.
I don’t care about being right.
Reality is reality and that’s not my personal opinion.

What strikes me as interesting is the approach.
Be aware of the difference in “tone” of this person compared to pretty much everyone else around.

Do you notice?

Why don’t you just report it?

He reminds me of a college professor or something - talking down to everybody - expecting people to listen to his dumb ideas.
