I don’t think the servers can really handle more people, I’m sure that’s a factor in CCP’s decision making.
Thats been in the back of my mind since 2014. 50/60k seemed to be too much profit.

NGL spamming the dscan button is an annoying gripe that I could do away with.
A passive Dscan as we know it now might be borderline overpowered, but they could also just update d-scan mechanics to be more interesting, I.E. give every ship a unique dscan range, speed, and resolution so you don’t have perfect information within 14.3AU every server tick that you mash V

Just a funny addendum to this - I lost everything I’d spent years building in EVE because two years ago, my son was born at a time that meant I missed the final attack on my WH home station.
Obviously I had barely even remembered this when I logged in a week later and found out, but I resolved never to bother investing any meaningful time and energy into building anything in this game, because it can be taken away so easily and so completely. Kind of funny now, and I don’t mind because it probably saved me wasting time staring at D-scan etc instead of investing the time I do in my son, but yeah, EVE just doesn’t have any respect for our time.

They could remove dscan tomorrow, I would not miss it. I thought this is why we use combat probes. On one hand, it would be nice to know there isn’t anyone out there seeing my ship on dscan. Am I sitting in dock or cloaked in space? Am I mining in a venture or using my combat probes on my battle cruiser? On the other hand, you wouldn’t see any combat probes either. It would make the game very challenging indeed.

Perhaps you haven’t been using dscan to its full potential ? A good hunter can pinpoint you without using combat probes, in a short time when target is near a celestial or a site, in a longer time via triangulation if the target isn’t, but still close enough to one. Dscan simply gives more options.
Why OP is “staring at dscan for 45 minutes” is not very clear. There aren’t that many conditions that would make that necessary. Anyway, if he feels that EvE doesn’t respect his time, on to greener pastures then ?
In any case, introducing new automation, while CCP has a headache fighting existing automation, that’s unlikely to happen.

I know how dscan works. What you are talking about above is where a player multiboxing with 3 omega accounts, parks their ships at various points in the system and dscans my venture. they narrow the beams until they get a fix on the belt I am mining. Then they punch their warp to that belt.
As soon as I see them fly up on my grid, I punch my warp to dock button and they miss me pathetically because I am not pressing dscan but watching the grid instead. I dump my cargo at dock, log off, and swap to the next alpha for mining.
I have also discovered a few tricks I use to keep safe, but I don’t share them. Once you start sharing your secrets, the others work on ways to defeat your protection. Strange thing is none of my tricks use dscan at all.

I’ve never used d-scan when mining…I consider it a complete waste of time. I simply go through killboard and establish who all the gankers are and add them to bad standing. That way I am instantly alerted if they enter the system.
I also create bookmarks 150km from my docking station, and from any relevant gates. That way I can warp to station/gate…see if anyone is there lurking…and then from 150km you can actually warp to the station/gate.
All sorts of little tricks.

Why use 3 accounts when you can do it with one? Basic way of hunting in low sec without alerting your prey with probes

Then you haven’t figured out yet what you can do without dscan.
Playing EVE without dscan is like walking through a forest without using your eyes.
Sure, you can simply keep walking ahead and whenever your nose touches a tree you walk a different direction, but if you had your eyes open you would not have walked into that tree. Likewise you can play EVE without Dscan and deal with the situation any time you accidentally warp into a gate camp or hostile fleet, or you can use Dscan to avoid such simple mistakes.
Playing EVE without dscan is like playing with your eyes closed. You’re not going to find people or avoid people if you can only see what is on grid or in local with you.
