As a 20y player with 320-50 mill sp characters, i can tell you they already did it.
Vets use to have to earn that sp in time. now anyone can buy sp. So yea. That boat left years ago.
but honestly, three 100-mill sp characters are better than one 350-mill one. And if you don’t understand why that is you shouldn’t be considering splurging on anything.

Exactly. You hit it right on the nail. I bought 2 Cruisers and 3 Battlecruisers ( nice big shiny things ) but I’m not flying them yet because even though I can get into the pilot seat I have no idea what all these buttons do.
I bought several because I will lose them ( probably stupidly ) and to test-fit them while I’m in them so I can get fitting results according to my present levels of skills in the Info and Fitting windows.
Why on earth would I spend billions on a character whose skills I couldn’t handle?
For now I’m planning to lose a few Destroyers so I can know what battle feels like in EVE and try one tactic or two if I’m lucky to have the advantage of surprise. But no way am I jumping ship class before I’m comfortable with the one I’m in.
28 days for Railgun Specialization though!

What I find ludicrous about your post is that you seem to think someone on this forum has an inkling as to what corporate policy moves Pearl Abyss has in mind. If this is a burning issue with you (which I somehow doubt) you do realize they dont have anyone even looking at this forum. They do have their own website! Maybe a query about their corporate decisions will find a response there. Asking such questions here tends to look like youre posting for effect, couching this as an honest question.
I just looked on the PA official website, under the games section they don’t even mention EVE online, so that’s a promising start to what they think of EVE 
Pearl abyss owns ccp games, who maintains eve online. So why would PA list a game that they don’t own or develop?
Maybe just invest time.

That’s what I ask myself everytime I get a hankering to resub. That and the disconnects that make it stupid to even undock my 2B Loki again.
