I didn’t see them mention soy at any point. Did I miss something?
I’m personally not trying to explain every little thing to someone who describes himself as “high-functioning”.
Any takers?
Soy is very high in estrogen - high enough that it can affect people’s hormone balance. It is also a popular food for people who are naturally more caring and nurturing - traits which are more feminine than masculine.
It has something that is similar to estrogen in some cases, not estrogen itself. The whole thing about soy milk and soyboys is more a meme than an actually valid health concern.
I’m learning fun things about biochemistry!
High-functioning means that I’m actually capable of living unassisted, not completely without drawbacks. One of those drawbacks is being particularly susceptible to things WHOOOSH-ing right over my head, and I don’t have Drax the Destroyer’s reflexes to compensate for it.
And irony of ironies, it appears this was one of the rare occasions where I did notice the correct subtext. I thought AE might have been referring to that “soyboy” nonsense, but didn’t want to assume due to what internet subcultures like to throw the term at people they don’t like. IMO that’s not the sort of accusation you level at someone without a damn solid justification.
I find it amazing that this myth is still being peddled…
In my defense, I read it a long time ago… back before it was a meme. I think the same article talked about wheat germ having the same effect.
…and apples…oranges…berries…wheat…etc…etc…etc…
I didn’t mean to single you out, rather to just shake my head that this still pops-up.
Flat-earthers, anti-vaxxers, birthers, whatever you call people who think the moon landings were a hoax…whatever the particular brand of hogwash (no offense, @Galaxy_Pig) might be, someone out there is gonna be peddling it.
And most people will believe whatever the TV tells them to believe.
Thank god for EvE, without it I would still believe everyone was honest.
Even the advertisers claiming that Listerine does something useful?
Look if some guys want to consume large quantities of soy, I’m not gonna judge. If they like growing breasts and having the strength of a teenage girl, as long as they are happy, that’s fine with me.
Only ever trust the ethical ISK doubling services
That wil teach them, those pesky rascals.
Good riddance.
Calm down miner.
Okay, setting aside the dubious validity of those claims, you probably don’t want to be posting them due to the sort of political/cultural movements they’re associated with.
As my dad always told me when playing carnival games, “quit while you’re ahead!”
They usually have extremely low self-esteem, although they try to hide it.
