@CCP_Aurora
Thank you for following this up I am sure it is appreciated that it is being looked at. Can you please confirm. The re-spawn is per Constellation or Region. I am guessing region but some clarification would be great so I know if I need to have ice mining ships in every ice system in the region I am in.
If it is just constellation then maybe it is broken a little because one constellation has only one ice belt that has not spawned since it all first changed.
Just to add - I have looked in The Agency window and in my region there is only 1 ice belt in the entire region. So 1 ice system out of 11.
Perhaps you have been asleep for the last 1,500 years or thereabouts. IDK. Halloween is right around the corner after all But people here are not speaking in ancient Roman Latin. They are speaking in modern English. LIke a lot of words and phrases ādecimateā has come to mean the precise opposite of what it used to mean. It now means something like 90 percent or even 100 percent destroyed.
Good luck catching up to the 21st century. And ongratulations on already figuring out how to post on a web forum!
As a non-botter who hates botters, I welcome changes that I can adapt to much faster than a scuz bot. However, this is just sounding like a frak up of mammoth proportions. It sounds like the road to hell paved with good intentions. It sounds like pretty much any noob with an Eve account could have had a better idea. Or, it could be that an evil genius has decided to upturn some tables and act like it was an accident.
Since hearing about the changes I have intentionally popped through four HS ice systems several times over the last few days and only saw one with any ice. Glad I donāt own any structures. Glad I donāt focus on ice mining anymore. Glad I got plenty of ISK and posessions to work with. Or else I would be playing a different game for sure. Unlike so many here, I am not a masochist itching to be abused by devs so many of us know to be griefers at heart.
Try and enjoy the coming fireworks even if you ARE the firework.
Totally agree here. Ice mining is all but dead. CCP destroyed a whole gameplay style so many people enjoyed and i still donāt know why if not to intentionally reduce player base (as scarcity did not breed destruction as intended but instead bred so many excessively tanked skiffs )
Both meanings have been in common use to my knowledge and pretty much I donāt care as usually context is enough to distinguish the intent of the usage.
I gave you a like tho cos ā¦
āIn Middle English the term decimation denoted the levying of a tithe, and later the tax imposed by Cromwell on the Royalists (1655).ā
Awesome!! I did not know that about my own history/heritage and a fact learned is a chance to bore and piss off an idiot.
If this is the method by which it is being done, is it possible that there are no distribution problems, but that the ice is just ending up in systems where it is simply not touched, thus preventing it from spawning elsewhere?
I know it would get mined in Null-sec, and I know some people mine it in low-sec, but if there was a series of systems where people were not mining it due to either PvP or outright inaccessibility, the method you described for distribution would play out to where the ice was only present in those systems.
Does ice still spawn in Raravoss? Is the system randomly choosing the locations for the ice belts properly, but when the location ends up being a system that already contains an ice belt, is it just moving on to the next anomaly instead of re-rolling the location for the current one?
@CCP_Aurora Further on thisā¦are the new Trig systems considered part of their original space or have they been moved into new constellations together. Using the scanning analogy. I used to hang out near Angymonne. Most days the vast majority of the scannable sigs in the constellation would be in Angy because nobody would scan them and it would just pile up. Furthermore, Angy had 3 ice belts, most in the constellation. Does the new mechanic allow for 3 ice belts to be active in Angy and not in the rest of its original constellation. If so, the impact on high sec is going to be far greater than CCPās modeled outcome will show it to be, at least until trig space becomes populated with ice miners (unlikely to happen anytime soon).
Were shattered ice fields removed entirely from shattered wormholes?
I havenāt seen any (and frankly I do not believe anyone bothers overmuch) since the patch was introduced, so while shattereds are rare to run across, the last two dozen I visited had no ice anomaly. Iāve been asking other wormhole groups and while we cannot say theyāre gone, theyāre currently not āthereā, or havenāt been sighted since the patch by the people Iāve been asking.
I can conclusively say they were not but I think they may be subject to the same rulesā¦our corp has found shattereds with and without ice since the patch.
Based on simply what we have seen, the chances are higher in higher class shattered holes. Weāve not yet seen ice in a shattered c1 but have in c4s and c5s. Not sure if is this working as intended or just a skewed sample
Actually I was mining ice for corp in high sec around pashanai and I mined 3 belts within 10 jumps that spawned like clock every 4 hours. No problem with these at all. Was there for whole week and they spawned really every 4 hours after mined, all of them.
@ccp_Aurora Having monitored Ice belts in Cobalt Edge the situation is as follows 9 belts maximum at any one time. If belts are not mined out they seem to remain. This isnāt great in a renter alliance area where some corps donāt ice mine or donāt mine it out in a week. Thus you donāt have the freedom to just āmineā where the ice is at as you would do in high sec or low sec ( you may say well not our problem but a lot of infrastructure and system rental is based on these resources being present). If the changes are not working as intended roll them back to before - get them right then make the changes required correct and communicate this. The point of test server surely is to test this before applying to a live situation - where the changes trialed on singularity? More generally this error may result in the collapse of player corps that are less resilient or canāt guarantee to be logged on when the elusive ice belt forms once in a blue moon. If would be great if you could at least guarantee the ice would appear x times per month/week in a given system but this just seems like chaos theory at the moment. I appreciate this may not be CCPs intention on how this ended up but the optics of this change do not present well from player perspective.
Update - In region I am in I previously reported 1 ice system out of 11. I can confirm that there are now 3 systems out of 11. Will look again in the morning.
Good Morning - well logged in this morning - 10 hours later and the systems with ice are still there. Same three so looks like it might be working better. Has increased from 1 system to now 3 systems out of 11.
