If CCP Hired me for their next expansion

If you guys want to hire me this is the expansion I’d build:

EVE Online: True Null – Ghosts of True Eden

A Lost Frontier. A Fading Past. A New War.

The anomaly known as True Null is more than just a lawless warzone—it is a forgotten remnant of Old Eden, a place where reality itself is unstable, and the ghosts of the past whisper to those who dare to listen. For those who survive the initial chaos, an even greater mystery awaits: the Ghosts of True Eden Series—a high-stakes narrative-driven journey that will redefine the very nature of EVE’s universe.

UNVEILING THE SECRETS OF TRUE NULL

In the heart of True Null, a strange force lingers, remnants of an ancient power that predates even the empires of New Eden. As capsuleers fight for control of the region, scattered ruins, encrypted data fragments, and hidden artifacts tell a deeper story.

By taking on the Ghosts of True Eden Series, players will uncover powerful rewards, technology, and insight into this mysterious space.

  • Factional Shifts – Forming alliances within True Null is dynamic—some will last only a day, others could define an empire.
  • The Brothers of Old Eden – A secretive faction who possess knowledge of experimental jump drive technology, granting access to hidden systems and unknown frontiers.
  • Ultimate Choice: The Event Horizon – At the heart of True Null lies a gateway to something far greater. Here, pilots will face the ultimate decision:
    • Extend the reach of True Null into normal space, changing EVE forever.
    • Fight to contain its power and preserve the barrier, keeping the chaos locked away.

TRUE NULL: A NEW TYPE OF WARFARE

  • Dynamic Sovereignty – Capture and control systems faster than ever before, but face constant opposition from both players and AI-driven NPC factions.
  • No Escape, No Safe Haven – Resources, ships, and ISK earned in True Null stay in True Null. What you conquer, you must defend.
  • Cloud-Optimized Warfare – Large-scale battles supported by modernized server architecture, ensuring smooth and scalable fleet engagements.
  • Hidden Knowledge and Unique Rewards – Those who survive the battles and piece together the mysteries of Old Eden will gain exclusive advantages, including advanced jump drive tech, allowing exploration beyond the known edges of space.

TRUE NULL IS COMING. ARE YOU READY?

A new frontier of conquest, mystery, and war awaits. Will you fight for dominance, uncover the secrets of the past, or challenge the very fabric of New Eden?

Sounds interesting. I’ve written in the past that CCP probably needs a new type of space, something dynamic and procedurally generated with varying rewards so it doesn’t get ‘solved’ and stale.

That said, in general new hires don’t get to design or ‘create’ much unless they already have a solid list of achievements doing similar things. There’s a pretty huge performance gap between boldfacing a couple dozen buzzwords, and actually delivering a working product.

Also, the ‘what happens in T-Null stays in T-Null’ pretty much kills the interest for most of the established power blocs, as nothing that happens there will affect their primary holdings. Since they’re the steady cash source for the game, you’ll need to find a way to appeal to them also.

Falls apart as soon as you apparently cannot escape with the loot.

Also if CCP hired you in what capacity? Are you writing code for this? I think they already got the ideas guy dude

Er…I’d rename this expansion ’ EVE Moves Even Further Away From Being A PLAYER Driven Sandbox

Noooooo…I don’t want even more boring, micro-managed, PvE ‘content’.

Hey, i’ll give them props for originality.

Originality? That’s nothing but buzzwords from some shady mobile scam game, probably even written by an AI. Besides: Whack-a-mole gameplay is so exciting and original. We used to have this with sov wanding ceptors. Was a major success.

Plot twist: ChatGPT wrote the proposal.

I tried to check it but it wouldn’t check.

…does this mean I’m not human??

…sweet!

Its offensive right now like talking on a cell phone was pretentious and annoying when they first came out. But in another little while you won’t think twice about pumping ideas through a LLM. The original idea is mine , i let the AI be more creative.

Cheers.

Stop reading after i saw the word NULL :frowning:

I thought your writing needed a push into a more compelling direction.

Pay no mind, jus’ having fun with my morning coffee…

A Lost Frontier. A Fading Past. A New War.

In an isolated, nearly forgotten frontier—where the echoes of history gradually vanish and the threat of a new war lingers—a state of disorder prevails. The True Null phenomenon emerges not merely as a battlefield, but as a relic of Old Eden’s lost era. In this eerie environment, reality warps along its fragile boundaries, with the murmurs of ancient times reverberating through collapsed stone corridors. Amid the debris of past conflicts, worn-down survivors stumble upon a startling discovery: the Ghosts of True Eden Series. This transformative quest challenges pilots to piece together the very essence of the EVE universe.

Beneath the mysterious shroud enveloping True Null lies a profound center pulsating with an unexpected energy—a remnant of a primordial force from before the rise of New Eden’s empires. Expert capsuleers clash in intense duels and desperate skirmishes within maze-like ruins illuminated by the intermittent glow of old-world technology. They decipher fragments of encrypted data and unearth hidden relics bearing faded symbols. Every shard and decaying artifact contributes to reconstructing the fragmented tale of a distant epoch.

By embarking on the Ghosts of True Eden Series, intrepid pilots will unlock formidable weaponry, pioneering tech enhancements, and earn deep insights into this enigmatic realm.

Factional Shifts – Within True Null’s volatile corridors, alliances form as fleetingly as the shifting sands beneath a storm-tossed sky. Some pacts disintegrate in explosive moments amid plasma bursts and digital betrayals, while others, forged in the relentless crucible of combat, solidify into rising empires with the promise of endurance.

The Brothers of Old Eden – Tucked away in remote outpost bunkers and clandestine meetings, this secretive brotherhood protects forbidden knowledge about experimental jump drive technology. Adorned in worn insignia and operating from dim, neon-lit alcoves, they provide pilots with hidden keys to unlock wormholes and explore unknown, mystifying regions of space.

Ultimate Choice: The Event Horizon – At the very core of True Null, a swirling portal glows with a celestial blue light that vibrates with power, presenting pilots with a monumental decision at this cosmic crossroads:

  • One option dares you to extend the chaotic tendrils of True Null into normal space, potentially reshaping the very fabric of EVE’s galaxies and rewriting the destiny of entire civilizations.

  • The other invites you to seize and contain its volatile energy, building a delicate yet steadfast barrier to hold back the inevitable storm of chaos threatening to engulf everything.

TRUE NULL: A NEW TYPE OF WARFARE

Dynamic Sovereignty – Engage in ultra-fast system captures where every command pulse is critical. In these contested zones, rival pilots and savvy AI-driven forces collide in fierce, unpredictable battles as you fight relentlessly to claim and secure every inch of territory in real time.

No Escape, No Safe Haven – Every ship, every cache of hard-won ISK, and every invaluable resource obtained within True Null is ensnared by its corrupting forces. Once claimed, you must defend them continuously in a realm where extraction is as perilous as the warfare itself.

Hidden Knowledge and Unique Rewards – For those brave enough to withstand relentless onslaughts and decode the secrets etched in ancient ruins, outstanding rewards await. Exclusive treasures include state-of-the-art jump drive systems, which open secret wormhole passages and propel daring pilots into the uncharted, mysterious expanses beyond known space.

TRUE NULL IS COMING. ARE YOU READY?

An arena of rebellion and warfare calls out! Will you fight for supremacy, unearth the old secrets of Eden, or challenge the very foundations of New Eden? Only the bold will carve out a legacy, their names echoing throughout history.

Thank you for the feedback. Of course my idea will never manifest…but come on guys - you can get more creative and ambitious about new content.

A lot can be done with scaling in the cloud and a lot can be done with adding creative flair and energy.

Respectfully, CCP reputation precedes you. You have replaced the idea of innovation with nerfs and tweaks to existing systems.

Creativity comes from outside the system.

Have a wonderful day , and expect energy from your game. Null Sec stagnation is just sad.

no but in my imaginary game world you farm up a system to true high sec status.

I encourage you to dream more. Release that creative energy.

Thanks for the feed back - of course its just a thought experiement - but I did in fact close the loop:

  • Ultimate Choice: The Event Horizon – At the heart of True Null lies a gateway to something far greater. Here, pilots will face the ultimate decision:
    • Extend the reach of True Null into normal space, changing EVE forever.
    • Fight to contain its power and preserve the barrier, keeping the chaos locked away.

There were events in other games where sides would contribute resources to a cause. We can envision two emerging PLAYER factions - albeit void of power bloc BS – who are vested against each other.

The agressor may find that once the chaos is unleashed it will indeed spool over into new eden.

what kind of chaos you say? I have no f’ing idea – but might I suggest its a space game and the real world sucks so we can all dream more.

EVE Online: Crimson Reckoning - Patch Notes
“Nowhere is safe. Nowhere is sacred.”

Major Changes

1. Highsec is No Longer a Safe Haven

  • CONCORD response times increased from 6 seconds to 30 seconds in 1.0 security systems, scaling up to 60 seconds in 0.5.
  • CONCORD ships now persist after engagements, patrolling randomly rather than insta-killing aggressors. They can be distracted, baited, or overwhelmed.
  • All asteroid belts in highsec have been depleted, pushing miners to lowsec/null for meaningful resource extraction.
  • Mission agents no longer guarantee safe missions—you may now be ambushed by rival NPC factions or players using new mission-tracking technology.
  • Ganking penalty reduction: Security status losses for illegal kills in highsec are now reduced by 75%.
  • Market PvP enhanced: Players can now direct bribes to NPC station owners to manipulate market tax rates.

2. Nullsec and Lowsec Just Got Bloodier

  • Capital Umbrella Nerf:
    • Cynosural fields now require a 30-second charge-up before activation.
    • Jump Fatigue now stacks twice as fast and lasts twice as long.
  • Nullsec Local Chat Removed:
    • All nullsec systems now operate like wormhole space—local chat is delayed unless an infrastructure upgrade is installed.
  • Lowsec Faction Warfare Expansions:
    • Navy NPCs will now actively hunt non-aligned capsuleers trespassing in contested systems.
    • Loyalty Point stores now offer black-market ship modifications, available only to faction warfare participants.
  • Supercapital Logistics Overhaul:
    • Supercapitals can no longer dock in any NPC stations.
    • Keepstar docks now have a fuel cost per ship, scaling by hull mass.

    • Blueprint copies now have increased material requirements.
  • Taxes and Tariffs Overhaul:
    • Market sales tax increased by 5% across all highsec trade hubs.
    • New NPC buy order scaling: If too many of an item are sold in a region, NPC buy orders shrink dramatically.

    • Triglavian forces now roam deep into highsec, attacking large industrial convoys and mining operations at random.

4. Wormhole Space Gets Wilder

  • Random Drifter Invasions:
    • Drifter battleship fleets can now invade wormholes, targeting structures and players.
  • Mass Limitations on Capitals:
    • Any capital ship jumping through a wormhole now has a 50% chance of destabilizing the hole completely.
  • New Tier 6 Abyssal Deadspace Sites:
    • Extremely high-reward sites that randomly drop players into different nullsec or lowsec systems upon exit.

5. PvP Enhancements & New Ship Balance

  • ECM Rework:
    • ECM now prevents all affected ships from warping for 10 seconds.
  • Logistics Nerfs:
    • Remote reps now suffer from diminishing returns, scaling negatively the more reps are applied to the same target.
  • New “Marauder-Hunter” Class Cruiser:
    • Special ship designed to counter bastioned Marauders, negating their damage resist bonus.
  • Stealth Bombers Rework:
    • Bombs now deal double damage in highsec, targeting industrial ships with extreme precision.

  • “Occupancy Matters” Initiative:
    • Sov index decay rate doubled for underutilized space.
    • NPC pirate factions will now attempt to reclaim unused systems, forcing players to fight for control.
  • Citadel Upkeep Costs Introduced:
    • Structures now require weekly fuel upkeep, or they begin a self-destruct sequence.

7. New Event: The Blood Raider Purge

  • Highsec and lowsec Blood Raider incursions now actively hunt player-controlled industrial operations.

Carebears, your days of safety are over. Adapt, fight, or perish.
Fly dangerous. o7

I dunno, parts of that look kinda interesting. And parts of it look indistinguishable from some things none of us would be surprised to see CCP announce. I see now they’re training generative AI to write actual code, so maybe our future expansions won’t be too far off from this.

(The 5% tax boost is a bit too much though.)

I went over some of that stuff going “yup, please thank you”. The real issue is if we should be scared or happy about that.

Aisha - Let’s go! May I meet you half way? Your radical changes might be the outcome of the aggressor side from within Old Eden.
