iv restarted a few times for funzies to experiment with the progression system to get a deeper understanding of it.
Imo, building toons that are highly specialized for a specific set of roles is the way to go. Plex what you need for them and you are set with in a month or two.
Pick one.

Exactly that, Anderson linked maxed skills in a few things and totally ignored the fact you dont need a perfect set to do it. Not to mention half of them could be very viable with a few injectors.
And now you are ignoring your own sentence that was “highly specialized” and are again distorting the facts to change the reality of what you wrote.
So yes you need close to perfect set to be “highly specialized”.
That means only doing one thing, you stooge.
So many EVE players say things like that. It’s always mom’s CC or mom’s basement. Always mom. As if they grew up in fatherless homes so it doesn’t occur to them to say “Dad’s AMEX”.
Explains a lot about much of the behavior of the average forum warrior.

Or maybe they had a Dad but he never paid any attention to them and when he did, he was mostly an abusive a-hole. Or maybe I’m just projecting a bit much.

Frankly if my assets had been wiped because a dev had decided the best way to correct their previous mistakes was to change the game mechanics in order to trash trillions of assets essentially without warning, the way I would start over would be to download a better game from a more honest developer.

I’m in the lucky position of being a CCP pet so I’d just get any & all asset losses reimbursed.
But if you are saying I could not do that (would never happen btw) then I would have to rely upon my monthly “afiliate” & “content creator” plex “bonus”.
If you are saying I can’t rely on even gifted isk & plex from CCP, wow that is rough! Then I’d guess I’d mining bot to omega status then, mission bot until I had enough to skill boost into a super carrier bot, you know the normal eve way.

Spent a bit playing Everspace 2. it feels great and is interesting, like baldurs gate 3 though it really needs more content.
Most of what I value in EVE is in my characters and game knowledge. I have some assets and ISK, but if it were all gone I wouldn’t play much different than now.
- Pick a region and/or corp to play in.
- Set up some new ISK income that you enjoy doing (I use PI and an exploration ship, low initial costs!)
- Use ISK to build up whatever expensive stuff you want to have
