it’s pretty easy to ignore people on the EVE forums, you just choose to not read or reply to their shite.
but just in case they do one day say something that makes any sense it’s best not to ignore peoples opinions and ideas. even a broken clock tells the correct time twice a day.

Half the fun of the EVE-O forum is the pleasure of seeing what snip many of the people that post here are.

You seem to be taking this way too personally, again kind of proving me right. I can only ask you to stop needing your own personal safe-space, and i even explained why you shouldn’t need it. I believe you’re better than that.

Its not opinions that bother me, I like reading views which are against mine. This is what debating is about.
My problem is I’d like to block the people who have nothing to contribute to any discussion. Do you have a response for this?
Who determines what said “nothing” is? At least once a week I see someone get salty as ■■■■ because their piss poor idea or incredibly redundant AFK cloaky thread just got shat on. They are all very valid answers to the OP, however because said clod (I’m borrowing that term from Linus) gets salty and angry that people don’t agree with him, the OP goes on a tirade of insults and condescension. I can promise that they’d just be blocking the people who are in fact offering differing opinions.
Net result, their own thread would be virtually impossible for them to read, because they would only be seeing half of the thread.

You don’t understand. I’m not hurt or upset or anything I have got complete and total apathy for what some of the people here have to say and would like a function that allows me to remain apathetic to what some users have to say.
Ignoring someone can be one of the worst things you can do to them. Trolls are the ones who get emotional when blocked.
Use the scroll function.

Okay. Now i understand. Sorry it took me so long. I get it, but i still believe it’s a bad idea, also because of things people mentioned in here. AFAIK though, there’s a compromise (eww compromises -.-), and you can use browser extensions which will enable what you want.
I do indeed. I put it to you that contributing nothing to the discussion may just be you not agreeing that something has relevance. You started off saying you wanted to block racists but racist posts will get removed by moderators assuming anyone flags them or the mods happen to find them by chance. I think maybe some things you don’t consider “contributing” actually are contributing and you just don’t like the way they contribute or the content of their posts. Either way the world is already devolving and the less time and attention given to people who consider being offended a major thing the better.
Could you link the racism you spoke about earlier, as well as some examples of non contribution that would fit with your potential blocking strategy?
If you’ve seen my posts on here you should be able to see I want honest convos, the trolling in this thread I can handle.
I think youre trying to read into me too much, my offence isnt really a major thing I think you misunderstood that I am just apathetic to people who choose to troll by typing about race in a derogative fashion. I have no desire to give these people any kind of platform and would be happy to block him and then never mention it again.

So, you sort of believe that if somebody said something you don’t like on a specific topic that triggers you, he won’t be able to provide an interesting input on some other topic? People may be jerks AND quite competent at the same time, you know. Seems more like attempt to escape reality and unpleasant truths, to me. Especially as “racism” has been mentioned already, which is so much overused word these days that it’s turned into all-around stigma to shift things you don’t like into negative context.

I’ve yet to see someone on the forums be a racist. Never seen them use racial slurs or go on any rants about any IRL ethnicity.
If you dont like what someone has to say, you can either close the comment and ignore them yourself, or you can let you huevos drop and say something to them.
