I'm still enjoying Eve

Calm down miner.

In the old days you did start off with skills based on background choices you made during character creation. For example I picked my character background specifically for all combat to start as I wanted to pvp. I still canā€™t even fly a venture because I never added that skill when it came into the game.

Then people complained that what if they made the wrong choice? Etc. Technically it didnā€™t matter because even if you picked an industry background that never stopped anyone from training any skill. But it did mean a tiny bit of extra time to train in the direction your toon wasnā€™t initially skilled for.

But in any case people complained and so that was removed and everyone started exactly the same but with early training much easier: free sp, accelerators, noob implants, injectors, removing learning skills, adding stupid dailies and on and on.

So funny how people complain about part of the game without knowledge that it was that way before and it was removed because people complained about it.

This is probably why CCP doesnā€™t bother listening anymore. No matter what they do half the players will complain. Easier at this point to do whatever they want regardless.

I started really getting into industry heavy during scarcity making T2 guns with one character. I still stayed with that one character was still able to make a good amount doing what I did.

People arenā€™t willing to downscale and always want to do things on there own instead of with a group. I had a contact for morphite, a contact for thermonuculear trigger units.

Regardless of where I lived and who I was with I still did something that TO ME was an accomplishment of where I came from.

Even though they donā€™t really amount to much, and Iā€™m not in crazy battles or anything I get enjoyment from this game when I set a goal and achieve it, no matter how small or big and the way this game allows me to do that I love.

I have to respect its systems, even when it changes and thats fine. I donā€™t understand complaints when nothing is garunteeā€™d or even given to you from the developers perspective, you have to go and build it or do that thing, which sometimes means you do have to compromise on some things a bit.

Na I love this game, I havenā€™t played as long as some and I donā€™t have the best killboard but I have memories that only this game could have ever created and accomplishments that Iā€™ve done that I could see what impact that caused ingame, and I intend on keeping that train going.

I agree. You really canā€™t seem to please even half of this community at any given time. I think the fact that CCP is straight up printing SP for cash is a little too much, but I get it to some extent from the newbros perspective. I think it largely stems from a lack of understanding. I knew early on that I had to specialize in something first, then branch out. What ppl donā€™t seem to understand is that massive amounts of SP just means more variety, you can only be so good at one thing at any given time. With a good focused skill plan you can be flying a cruiser and filling a role in combat as well as any vet in under a year. Also I totally forgot it was like that before. I had a couple characters back then, but stepped away for a long time. (kids)

FTFY

Mostly combat actually, but my corp mines a lot and I would like to help out more. I would be willing to roll and industry char if he was geared towards it from the get go. To be clear I just mean enough to fly the ventures well and barges at all, no tech 2 stuff. I mean when you go to school to learn to drive a semi truck they donā€™t stick you in a van for several months. You trained to drive the truck from day one, so you drive trucks. I donā€™t want to ruin the learning curve either as I think it is necessary given the depth of the games mechanics. (even if the math is weird it is deep)

fair point

The amount of positive vibes and opinions in this thread makes me feel uneasy.
This is not the way

I am having fun as well.

For me, it is all about managing expectations and defining success. I set goals that are possible within the confines of THIS game. Obviously i cannot PvP non stop, nor always win. That would be a different game, and the players i want to kill get a vote in the matter. The same applies if you want PvE. The game challenges players by using other players as an obstacle to unending success.

Fun, for me, is trying to survive and improve in the game world as it is. I would like CCP to get off their asses and add some actual content, but i suspect that will never happen so i choose not to dwell on it.

With the FW patch coming out I seem to enjoy planning ahead to be 1 step ahead of the curve when the patch finally hits. Some times I wonder if I enjoy planning more than actually getting to the goal.

I play everyday. No matter what I do in the game I have fun for a few hours of unguided sci-fi overload.
Itā€™s all good.
