I’m waiting until Omega goes on sale. Subscription cost for Omega has increased 60% since I last purchased it a few years ago (monthly cost apples to apples). I’m not going to pay £15.99 (~$20.16 USD) a month (ongoing, like for like) for a game of this quality, graphics are very mediocre. I have a very good system (PC) and 200 Mbits/s fibre connection. My rig runs much more intensive titles with ease and they cost a lot less per hour to play. Even compared to other online service games such as ‘iRacing’ which have a similar business model but different genre ($13.00 a month). EVE is around 54% more expensive per month. Are EVE’s running costs 54% higher? Or are a lot of players on free Alpha accounts like me? Both Ubisoft and EA stock are suffering with new titles underwhelming, while I note that EVE’s concurrently online player stat has recently ducked below its 5 year period, 31K average. If you feel the same please leave a reply or comment or like or whatever… If you disagree please PLEX my account thanks
I’m sure that applies to @Chad_Frostpacker as rumor has it that he’s about to acquire 4500 PLEX for free, maybe he’s willing to do it as he disagrees or if not then out of courtesy.
If you pay per month it is like it is. And if you really do, then your post is about 3 years late. So i don’t really get it, why you are complaining now.
If you pay in advance, you just missed the biggest save ever by combining a dual save from store PLEX with a save in the NES for about 6.24$ a month.
It really makes no sense to pay per month. There are always discount options available. And if you decide to only pay month, then you might want to wait for a sale and get yourself a stockpile of gametime codes at a reseller.
Or you stay an alpha. Then you should have nothing to complain about price.
I’ve recently came back to EVE to see what’s what. Monthly comparisons were made so as to apply a fair comparison across time and industry. I wouldn’t actually pay ‘monthly’ I’d find a sweet spot. This is why I used terms such as ‘like for like’ and ‘apples to apples.’ I hope that alleviates your confusion?
@Bronzette realize he is just roleplaying and this is when you have to be persistent to get a hold of his 4500 PLEX or at the very least a 1 bil ISK handout. He will try all kinds of excuses but you should not give in to his wordsalads.
I don’t buy omega here either. Never have since I started. I have spent a lot on many other games in the past, but the reason was never about pricing. For this topic, I will try to recall just the online games I blew a lot of my husband’s wages on.
All currency is in USD;
I think I spent less than $100 on World of Warcraft, I never felt the RP aspect of that game.
Then in 2006 until 2012 I spent at least $550 on Guild Wars, I loved the buy to play model and spent a lot on the costumes and add ons. While I no longer spend money since the poorly developed sequel, I still own my account and play mostly on the weekends with a PvP group.
About that time in 2012 I moved into Neverwinter D&D and spent less than ever over the 8 years. I think about $150 at most to unlock some classes, although it was billed free to play. They ended up removing a lot of content to save them money and I left the game permanently.
I picked up Black Desert basic for $10, in 2018, and returned to the buy to play model. While it costs $15 per month for Value Packs, I have spent more per year on Black Desert’s pearl store, than I did in those 6 years with Guild Wars.
In my experience, it has never been about how much I spend. It is more about, did I enjoy what I spent it on? It is my personal opinion, buy to play, with a cosmetics, buffs, and add on store, is the better game model. If CCP had never gone free to play, this would be a consideration. However no one will buy into something that has been already given away freely.
Thanks everyone. I’ve just bought a Gold Pack. Does anyone know what would happen if I bought another Gold Pack? Will the extra Omega time get added on? PLEX added on or is it limited to 1 Pack per account?
Update… I couldn’t buy multiple Gold packs etc So I bought Bronze, Silver, Gold and they do add on. The Omega time has been added accordingly, I’m still waiting on the 750 PLEX.
So that’s 4.5 months for approx £35
approx £7.80 per month… much much better TY
