In Memory of Sir Patrick Stewart / Jean-Luc Picard: Let's Have an Epic Star Trek like Battle!

Capsuleers of New Eden,

We just lost an absolute legend of sci-fi and the stage with the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart. For so many of us who fly through the stars in New Eden, Captain Jean-Luc Picard was the ultimate inspiration for what it means to command a starship.

Instead of just lighting a quiet cyno vigil, let’s honor his memory with an all-out, cinematic Star Trek-style fleet battle—and leave a massive field of wrecks and anchored memorial cans in his honor!

Forget tidi-fests and boring structure bashes—we want phaser banks (lasers) lighting up the grid and photon torpedoes (missiles) flying everywhere. Bring your shiny Amarr beam boats, your heavy Caldari missile platforms, or anything else that puts on a massive light show across the stars.

Event Details

  • When: Monday, November 2nd — Starting at 16:00 EVE Time (11:00 AM EST)

  • Staging System: Autaris (0.5 High-Sec — safe staging and reshipping right on the border!)

  • Battleground: Jan (0.4 Low-Sec — right next door to Autaris) — At the Sun (0 km)

  • Format: Free-For-All / NPSI Brawl & Memorial Can Anchoring

Rules of Engagement

  • Ship Restrictions: Kitchen Sink (Cruisers, Battlecruisers, and Battleships encouraged for maximum spectacle!)

  • Weapons of Choice: Lasers (Phasers) and Missiles/Torpedoes (Photon Torpedoes) strongly encouraged for peak Star Trek cinematic flair.

  • Pod Express: Hold fire on pods so pilots can jump back into Autaris, reship fast, and get right back into the fight!

  • The Memorial Site: Bring an anchorable container to drop at the Jan Sun (or on the Autaris gate) with a tribute message or your favorite Picard quote to leave a lasting player graveyard after the smoke clears. (And if any CCP Devs or GMs are watching—come join the fleet and help us turn Jan into a permanent memorial!)

Whether you want to hold the line shouting “The line must be drawn here!” or lead a glorious charge yelling “Make it so,” undock, warp to the Jan sun, and help us turn the grid into the Battle of Sector 001 in honor of the Captain.

“Things are only impossible until they’re not.”

See you on grid. Engage! o7

So much for that Idea, One of the most Iconic Space Exploration TV Actors out there and No-One showed to the site, nor even to drop a memorial can, what a disappointment i have for the SCI-FI and EVE community at the moment, if anyone still wished to pay respects or drop a Secure Container with a Quote feel free to come to Auturis System and lay one down around my athanor structure S.T.R.I.P.

what I have done instead is I have renamed my athanor to [ Autaris - Sir Patrick Stewart Memorial ].

I understand a lot of you are far from this system, but if you are able I would love for any fellow travelers passing by to stop through and drop a secure cargo container with a quote or memoir, thank you!

Are you sure it isn’t Autaris system? Anyway, that’s over 30 jumps for me one way. I like Star Trek but not as much as to make 60 jumps in New Eden.
Anyway, James T. Kirk is my favorite captain ever but I still wouldn’t make 60 jumps for him.

Carry on, Ensign

Not that I am a huge fan of Patrick Stewart, I did like his version of Scrooge, but you didn’t plan this out very well. I realize death is sudden, but you should have set the date further out. People don’t actually exist in the EVE universe. Very few of the real players reside on the forums.

I think I would have gone for two weeks and not 2 days. Setting the time to a 12 hour window and treating it as a wake, would allow people in a variety of timezones to attend. If this was my event, I would have also told people in all the help chats, yes I do know the GM gets pissy about announcements. I would have the same line translated for the various chats pasted “Sir Patrick Stewart - Epic memorial space batter [location, date, EVE time] for 12 hours, see you there!”. Then closed chat. Unless you like being told you are spamming.

You have my condolenses,

I like space batters too. Let’s all have some cake!

Sorry I missed it, I was busy at the VA clinic yesterday.

That is my cell phone auto-complete for you. I won’t bother to correct it, since we all know AI is the new age god.

I would like to thank everyone who viewed and liked the post, what i have in Sir Patrick Stewart’s Honor, I have renamed my athanor structure in the system of ‘Autaris’ - ‘High-Sec: 0.5’ .

1It is now named : " Autaris - Sir Patrick Stewart Memorial" – Around the structure i have placed a few small secure cargo containers titled with quotes from Star Trek, X-Men, and Real Life from Patrick Stewart himself. If anyone else in or around the Lonetrek / Autaris area and would like to deploy their secure cargo container (can) to honor him, it would be greatly appreciated.

I do understand that not everyone in EVE lives in the forums, as I myself am one of those people and that also not everyone is near this area of space and can be a bit long distance, I truly appreciate everyone who wanted to participate in the battle and correct i should have planned it further ahead, next time i will plan it for 2 weeks later so everyone has time to get ready and arrive on grid.

Fly Safe, Mine Safe, Stay Alive!! o7

16 EVE time is when EU is getting off work and US is asleep or heading to work. Me personally, it’s in the very early hours of the start of my day and I don’t start my day with immediately getting on EVE. EVE is rather toward the end of my day when I’m done with all my errands/things. But for most EU and US residents – which make up the core of EVE players – this timing was just inconvenient. I anticipated as much when I read your opening post, but I can’t do your home work for you.

Also – who is Captain Kirk again? RIP for the actor, I’m sure he had loved ones who cared about him, and my condolences to them, but I hope he did more with his life than just play that one dude on a show I have never seen.

Thank you for your service.

Yes and I miss Walter Koenigs passing also. Star Trek' actor Walter Koenig's official cause of death revealed

Walter Koenig (September 14, 1936 – October 25, 2026) was an American actor and screenwriter best known for playing Ensign Pavel Chekov in Star Trek: The Original Series (1967–1969) and the first seven Star Trek feature films. [1, 2]

Looks like I am too late again.

No one ever does memorials to Ted Cassidy (1932-1979) this actor was, Balok’s Puppet (voice), Gorn, and Ruk in 3 separate episodes.

As Ruk

What about having an Elon Musk memorial space station?
I don’t think he made any appearances on Star Trek or Star Trek Academy?

I am almost certain he look dead or dying, but he was a historical figure of some sort.

I miss everything.

If you do a Patrick Stewart Memorial Mining Fleet, let me know. I’ll show up and bring some friends as well.
