I mean lets be honest, ship names dont really affect anything. No one has a dscan window wide enough on their screen to read the insulting sentence you put on your ship if this was added. I kinda don’t understand why this ridiculous feature was added.
Because personalising things pleases people. It’s one of those quality of life type feelgood things that’s optional, like wiping your ass or drinking Evian.

If your FC is calling based on the target’s ship name and not their character name and not broadcasting targets you need a better FC.
