This isn’t advertising - Jita local is now useless (well at least less comical than it used to be). When people spam their offers 20 times - multiplied by the hundreds of people doing it - the chat window is a fecking blur - self defeating AND moronic !
They shouldn’t - that’s what the HyperNet Window should be for. If players want to engage in it - they open the interface… simples. The fact that the interface itself is poorly designed and lacking any proper filtering is another conversation.
I’m addressing the frustration the rest of us who are not interested in the whole mechanism are subjected to because of it.
Earlier, while travelling to Jita i followed someone through 8 systems who spammed their Hypernet Offer at least 10 times in EVERY local chat they passed through ! - Seriously - you don’t see what that causes ?
and again, similar to the reddit issue, @CCP_Convict and co are taking twitter as their official forums…
As if all players are following CCP on twitter or checking twitter for CCP news…
They shouldn’t. Mass-spamming contracts/lotteries/etc, most of which are zero-effort scams, as fast as you possibly can is great for the scammer but a net negative for everyone else. All of this stuff should be restricted to people seeking it out on the market and looking at what has been posted.
Things that have been part of the game and are an accepted part of the community are not a problem, even if you think they are. The nanny-state nonsense has got to stop. You can’t regulate everything that annoys you, dude.
Jita spam is not “accepted”, it’s grudgingly tolerated because there’s no solution being offered. Hardly anyone thinks it adds anything of value to the game or wants it to be there. And it’s hardly “nanny-state nonsense” to want chat channels to be functional and used for chat, not a bunch of bots spamming the link to their scam as fast as they can post new messages.
It’s accepted. We all know it will happen. Nobody complains about it anymore, which is why I noted how absurd it was that you and others started complaining about it. Spam in Jita is as fundamentally EVE as ganking, scams, nullsec politics and a lot of other things that make the game what it is.
I’m really having a hard time understanding just what it is you like about the game, given how much of its core you seem to think needs to be regulated and changed.
Resigned acceptance of the fact that CCP is not going to do anything about the Jita spam problem is not the same as approval of it. And you have already been told the reason that people are complaining now: because there’s even more spam, and it is extending out beyond Jita and making even more systems have an unusable local channel.
Also, it is utterly insane to suggest that Jita spam and F2P cash shop trash are the “core” of EVE.
People are complaining now because you guys will complain about literally anything for any reason, any time.
Jita spam is fundamental - it’s a tradition in the game. There are a lot of little traditions in the game that people respect and acknowledge because they’ve been around for so long. I’m sure you’re the guy complaining when somebody makes a Poitot joke in fleet, too.
Sorry, but this CCP apologism has reached the point of utter delusion. I can’t believe you’re sitting here making a serious argument that Jita spam is a fundamental part of EVE and must not be touched.
And I never answered your question because it is irrelevant and off topic. What I like about EVE has nothing to do with F2P cash shop lotteries.
CCP didn’t create Jita spam, dude. The players did. Just like the players created the forerunner of the hyperlink.
My question is pretty relevant - not sure what exactly you like about this sandbox game because you seem to get bent out of shape when other people play and appreciate things in the game you don’t. But hey - if you can’t answer the question, that tells me all I need to know.
