Nah, the seller just needs to be able to buy enough HyperCores required to sell an item. Nothing is said about the ISK price of these HyperCores, but I don’t expect them to be 100% of the raffle value.
An example with made-up prices: let’s say you want to sell an item for 100M ISK through the HyperNet Relay. This raffle price could correspond to an entry barrier of 10 HyperCores, which are each going for 1M ISK on the market. As a seller, you’d only need to be able to afford 10M, or 10% of the total raffle value.
Again - those were made up values, it could be much more or less. I don’t expect total HyperCore value to be 100% of the raffle value, it’s probably much less.
I realize CCP is a business, and I do want EVE to continue, for many decades more; but, this business is bad business. Start to finish.
CCP’s history of dealing with in game casinos, what those casinos paid for in game, (which will not be replicated by CCP, with this platform), and all the attendant interactions or lack thereof, will echo for months to come in the public arena.
Now that i have mulled over the system - it would have been better as a part of whole contract system revamp: A new UI and all the other stuff and improvements that players asked for years. And instead of tying it to new type of cash-shop-only-item it could have been a new type of contract called “Raffle” that required PLEX to set up along with already existing WTB/WTS/Auction contracts
Hypercores can only be bought originally for RL money. If they are then re-sold on the market for isk it doesn’t change the fact that they are ONLY originated by spending RL money.
And I hope that CCP offers gambling addicts a way to permanently opt out of the HyperNet Relay on their accounts in order to protect them from themselves.
If the subs are not enough maybe they should fix the damn problems as that would convince more people to pay for subs. Money issue solved by solving the ingame problems.
Wow, this is a great idea. I always wanted to spend more real life money in this game, now CCP is introducing even more ways for me to burn my 401k into this video game.
I guess the next step is golden ammo? Golden ships? 20 second invulnerability consumables that turn your sheilds into 99.99% resist and can be stacked? And that can only be penetrated by platinum ammo?
I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but even I know stuff like that doesn’t stop kids from accessing content they’re not supposed to. What I meant was that CCP should cover their asses in case someone decides to take them to court over it (like with Epic over Fortnite’s lootboxes).
But, hey, thanks for not being a jerk to me about it.
Physical items require a huge upfront investment unless partnered with a producer/seller due to production costs, storage, etc. Usually never a good idea for a company looking to squeeze an extra buck out of a player base. In game items require an upfront investment of dev time. Dev time is a short investment cycle as it is on the books only for the hours used initially. Physical inventory can be on books for years from an accounting perspective.
Yes, they were popular and did a ton of business and I can see why CCP is trying to tap that market for a quick buck. The issue becomes wealth inequality. This was preached on in EvE Vegas and this literally shoots that in the head, burns it, and leaves it for dead. I literally just doubled the price of all of my AT ships due to this announcement. I haven’t even evaluated how I am going to handle T2 BPOs. All that is happening is rich players got a new way to squeeze even more out of the player base. Sounds similar to the above statement doesn’t it? Sure there will be little things on it now and then maybe, but most people are going to use this as a vehicle for big ticket items and abyssals.
Had this been handled differently I might be on board, but I am opposed to the current implementation as it stands.
Firstly, as a trader, I would like to say that I am disappointed that something sold to us on Saturday as
“we are doing something future forward, we are inventing a trading paradigm that can be used for wealth redistribution that can be used in New Eden, but also in reality”
Is in reality, just a raffle.
Now, with that out of the way, the numbering system is back to front on the tickets left.
If I see 511/512 for a Vedmak I assume there is only 1 ticket left.
I also think the lack of Confirm on multibuy is wrong, because everywhere else in the system you have to click Confirm after you initially click.
For sanity of players, that should be disabled by default and only turned on after direct plead to Hilmar with the pleading persons psychiatrist opinion added for legal department.
